Long overdue review, Carlos tried to do work for me on March of 2024. I can confidently say I had the WORST EXPERIENCE working with Carlos out of any contractor I have ever hired. He bids on jobs he does not know how to accomplish, and that became evident with the quality of his POOR WORK. I had to replace multiple electrical devices because he promised to protect them and did not! Some are still painted on that I did not replace. He did not sand the mud he put on the walls evenly at all and had to have my new painter resurface EVERYTHING I paid Carlos to do. He also threatened to take me to court because I paid him for a deposit of half of the whole house worth and fired him after a couple of horribly done rooms and wanted to pay him only for the rooms he did and he proceeded to use foul language and threaten me with legal action. After agreeing to a quote of $1200 and a set appt date of April 3, 2023, four days prior to work start Carlos G., owner of Pristine Painting, sent a text message stating that he was unable to do the project at our complex for the agreed amount and raised the cost by $800. I need to state that this is disheartening as well as unprofessional, incompetent and unreliable. Carlos - I definitely "do not" understand this at all. You made a verbal agreement with myself and the president of our Association, to paint the lines on our two parking, lots, stencil the assigned numbers on each of the spaces and line the two "no parking" zones for the price that you quoted of $1200 - paint and labor included. You told us when we spoke with you at our meeting, here on the property, back in January that you were completely capable of doing this job. Three weeks ago you set a date for us for Monday, April 3, 2023 which you stated was available to do this job. Again, I do not understand how you can increase the agreed to price by $800 and back out of a verbal agreement which is binding by law if we do not agree to the additional $800. In a quick recap. Carlos came to our home multiple times, gave us an estimate. We gave deposit and sign contract. He shows up to work, does the prep work for 1/4 of the job (by prep I mean tape paper to the floor). Proceeds to let us know that he now believes the job is double his initial estimate. We are not sure what has changed bc the home is the exact home he came to evaluate a couple times. Feeling like this was no longer a fair price we withdraw from his ridiculous new estimate. He then refuses to give us our deposit. The most unprofessional individual I've ever met. We had three people come and give us estimates and most were in his same ballpark, we opted to go with him, sadly the worst decision in our remodel. All he did was come for a couple of hours and put paper in one of our rooms and decided it was ethical to keep out deposit. No just that, but he was inconsistent with his communication. At this point it is fair to say he stole $1100, let's say $1000 ($100 for the couple or hours he worked and for taping paper on the floor). read more

Carlos is a fast talking, under estimating, excuse filled, time waster. Just fired him before he even started the job because he said I didn't confirm with him, OK. Yet he calls me at 9am the day of the job to confirm we're still on(supposed to be an 8am start time). Then he tells me how he was "doing me a favor" for a touch up job that would take a few hours(6 walls/approx 60 linear feet in 3 rooms with carpet and tile, and 3 beat up doors and jams) over fresh drywall, basically prime and paint, plus sanding on the doors/jams.... at least a days work. I became concerned with the low est/bid and let Carlos know we were done and he nicely tells me "fuck you". Great customer service! At least I didn't have him do what would probably have been a hacked half day of work with results like the other guy who gave 1 star. read more

This young man, Carlos, re-painted my San Diego home when we purchased it in 2013. He did a wonderful job and was very polite and professional throughout. We had several different colors in different rooms/areas and he did a fabulous job blending. We were eager to move in so punctuality was big for us, and he always arrived as scheduled (unlike our tile guy who was a nightmare). Finding a good painter was hard. Many residential painters flaked when we called for quotes. I'm so happy to see that he is actually a business owner now of his own Painting Company, because then he was working for someone else's house painting business at that time.
