It was our first time to Isla Mujeres and we were happy we chose Privilege Aluxes. It was a great location and very close walking distance to all the shops and restaurants in the center of the nightlife area. It was very safe and easy to get around. We chose it for this reason and also that it had a mini resort feel. It was a boutique resort with an all inclusive option if you wanted it. There is a really nice pool area and the room was nice, clean and well stocked. If you wanted you can add all inclusive to any day for I believe $65-70usd, which was pretty reasonable. You can also buy drinks and food à la carte for reasonable prices. Everyday there was a breakfast included for every guest which was a nice perk. It was much nicer than a standard continental breakfast. There were a lot of meats, fruits, omelette station, desserts, breads and standard breakfast items as well as strong coffee. We did add the all inclusive to one day of our stay. Overall the food was fine, I personally would think it would get old fast if you ate there the entire week as the food off resort was amazing and affordable. But it was nice to not have to leave the pool for a day. A lot of other guests said they added AI just for the drink package, which wasn't a bad idea. The staff was very kind and accommodating and they were very sure to ensure only guests were on site. The only suggestion was that for a resort feel type of place there was hardly any entertainment or live music. A little music at happy hour or in the evening would have been a nice touch.

AWESOME, classy , perfectly maintained inside and outside!! Very friendly service! I found nothing that needed repair even lounge chair well in great shape!!! We only had breakfast included because we love all the great variety of the island. The breakfast buffet was the absolute best ever !!!! There were at least 150 choices! Starting with the absolute best fresh baked breads, crusty outside fluffy inside! To the awesome fresh baked pastries, all made on site!!!! I have never had the over close to this good any were else in Mexico or anime Caribbean island!!! The selection of items was astonishing !!made to order eggs omelets etc. chicken, beef items that changed daily , I can mention it all !!! Highly recommend Privilege Aluxes and will definitely return

Amazing beach, little shallow to swim in but take the road by entrance to beach club for amazing Playa Norte. The whole resort was wonderful! Very immaculate kept hounds, well decorated and impeccably clean. Bar drinks were very good and not very expensive if you go with breakfast only. All inclusive add on is $65 pp/pd and doesn't have to be for all days so if you are doing excursions for day you can skip it. The included breakfast buffet is incredible, if you can't find something you like it's your fault. Pancakes, French toast, Mexican specialty, eggs Benedict, scramble eggs, omelets made to order or any kind of egg, canapés, breads, pastry, donuts, cereal yogurt and more- every day there is something a little different and all was excellent ! If you prefer to eat dinner out, it's only half a block to main restaurant area Hildago St. all the staff was so friendly and welcoming! I am definitely staying here again!

Reading the reviews, I get it (from the 5 stars to the 1 star).... On the Island of Isla Mujeres, this spot stands out as one of the most elegant, professional spots vs many of the other places with "party on the mind". The property is kept extremely well with great amenities that get you to feel that "VIP Status". We stayed at Privilege for 2 nights as we had friends getting married nearby so it only took 5 mins to walk over. Checking in early all depends on the staff member. We arrived at Noonish and were told to hang out at the bar or the beach for about 45 mins and they would get us into the room. About an hour later when I checked back in I had a different person... they were adamant about 3 pm so I ignored them and when I asked the previous person, she had the keys ready and the bellhop had our bags (and some flowers) in hand ready to go. We did the WOW PRIVILEGE WITH PRIVATE ROOFTOP POOL and let me start by saying that the "penthouse suite" is the only way to go and truly feel relaxed with privacy. The views from the balcony are AMAZING... Literally a 270-degree view from the balcony. Privacy is great and I kid you not, we almost decided to sleep outside on the Patio Bed gazing at the stars. We took advantage of the beach club which was good. The server was prompt and got everything we needed from cocktails to snacks. The Drinks however we inconsistent and the definition of "premium" liquor clearly varies for everyone. The snacks we got were chips and guac, calamari & few other things (I must admit I was really tipsy so I ate it all :-) ) A few "let downs" for us came with the concierge service & promptness. They tell you to contact them for anything but when we did, it didn't feel like our request was a priority. They would give us another number to contact (ex... housekeeping, maintenance, or the restaurant). Our breakfast in bed never arrived so I let them know and they escorted us down to the restaurant for breakfast. They apologized and the food there was really good but I wanted to enjoy my breakfast on the patio deck & in the private patio pool. The other big miss for us was the Brazilian Night Dinner. The setup was AMAZING and very romantic, but the service didn't match. Getting a 2nd Caipirinha or getting someone to clear out the table was a challenge. If my water glass was low, they were quick to fill it up... You already know I let them know, no water... COCKTAIL PLEASE!! The takeaway, the rating is really dependent on the customer service & how they cater to the guests to ensure we have a great experience. The reason people come is for that above & beyond service. Would I return... absolutely... After staying on the top floor overlooking the island, nothing gets better. We could see our room when departing on the Ferry!!! I would definitely outline some clear expectations with the staff to make sure it's a hit.

We spent a week here and overall it was the best choice we could've made. Location = perfect Service = great Ambience = exactly what we wanted (chill/nice) My favorites : -Jose the bellboy was super nice, helpful and happy ALL the time. -Omar our housekeeper was super sweet and surprised me with birthday decorations and sweet towel animal figurines. -the hotel brought me sparkling rose and a cake for my birthday. -Daynela the manager at the spa, gave me the most amazing massage ever. When I tell you the most amazing massage I mean, I think she has some special power. It was wonderful! And all the staff at the hotel in general were very professional. This is the relaxing vacation I needed. And for the few times we needed some fun, we were just steps away from the main restaurant area" And obviously, isla mujeres beauty is impactful.

We booked a year in advance and for an 80th birthday and arrived early and we paid extra for a garden view! Really? C'mon now! Don't com here!

The people behind the desk simply do not care at all about you! That's just it. You may as well save your money and stay elsewhere. When we first arrived, we asked them for a calendar or some information of events for the day or a sign we can look at and they said - you have to come every day to the front desk to find out. Meanwhile we found a calendar at the beach... Then we are told that we have to pay for a variety of things and luckily the bell hop cleared it up that we didn't have to pay for say the umbrella with chairs. It was our first night and it was pouring outside and unfortunately my wife forgot her hair comb. I figured this is a 5-star resort - they must be able to help. I asked them for a simple hair comb - instead they brushed me off and said go outside and look for one in the dark while it's raining. I said where do I go and are they even open (It was 8pm at night). If I was at any other hotel - not motel - they would just get us one or even charge us for one but come on... I'm not asking for the world here! Did they offer me a simple umbrella for the downpour? No because they didn't care at all. They saw me leave the hotel with no hesitation. Spent 30 min wandering the area looking for one - came back soaked with not a single apology or anything. They saw I was dripping wet - did they offer least a towel? Nope - didn't care at all. If you don't like people or care about this kind of work - why are you the face of the company - why is the company letting you be there?! I asked why they didn't offer an umbrella and their response - well you have one in your room... How was I supposed to even know that?! They saw I was unhappy and did not care at all. I asked why they didn't offer to help me anyway and they said - that's not our job. We don't have this kind of amenity. So much for being hospitable and helping me. Meanwhile they put us in prob the worst room possible where anyone can look in our room from the garden even though we were expecting ocean view. We basically have to have the blinds closed at all times. The jacuzzi is dirty as well. Their website says you can book an ocean/garden view room. What they don't tell you is that only about 6 rooms are ocean view - the rest are all garden. So, when you see ocean/garden - expect garden every time. It's not like we paid nothing to come here. This is the third most expensive hotel on the island. Also, Wi-Fi is insanely slow - barely usable. I tested 3-4MB up/down. And most things not included - unless you do their all-inclusive package - everything is nickel and dimed. They tried to apologize to us but it was so strange. The girl (alexia) that wanted to apologize called me saying that our booking included a dinner we had not utilized yet (yet never heard about this when we checked in) My wife went to go to the counter and found out that if we remove the review, they will include a dinner on the beach. I decided to give the dinner a chance. The food was disgusting- every dish but the bread. It was comically bad. Everything was not edible. Check out the photo menu and this would have cost us $170 - we didn't eat a majority and went to dinner elsewhere - least got to enjoy sunset. The dinner was primarily all liquids and mouse that were just disgusting and the lighting was so dark on the beach that you literally cannot see what you are eating - maybe that's a new experience? Lol. (We tried using our flashlights just to figure it out). We even joked with the waiter that it was all liquids and nothing good - and when dessert came out it was the weirdest dessert ever. Here is your chance for a mousse but instead it was a hard merengue with some jam on top - not good at all. I don't get who advises these chefs that people want to eat this. This was probably the worst dinner I have ever had anywhere - it was comically bad. I explained to them that the dinner was disgusting and they said - well some people love it - I guess that's one way to take feedback. This is where they gave up. Also, a review of the rooms. We stayed in two different rooms and the bed was identical. If you move even a tiny bit the whole bed shakes - it's insane. So, if either of you tosses in your sleep - good luck getting any sleep at all. I tried to explain this to Arturo the manager but he seemed amused by this - very strange. Breakfast is pretty bland and not really worth it. The eggs are ok but they don't salt them at all and if you sit outside - you don't get salt and pepper - very strange. Bread and bacon are pretty good. I recommend eating out any chance you get. The staff does not eat here nor do they understand what is good or bad because that's not their job. They are told - this is what people like.

Where to begin? This is our 4th trip in 3 years. Loved (past tense) this resort until new management/ownership took over. The service used to be impeccable, the staff was friendly, the resort was clean and there was hot water in the rooms. Now you pay more and get cold showers, dirty rooms and grounds and horribly unhappy staff. The whirlpool jacuzzi tub on our balcony that we paid extra for wouldn't get warm enough to even lay in (they used to have nice, hot water). They called someone to fix it, not fixed at all. They don't even bother to heat the hot tubs next to the pool. Dirty room service are left to sit out in the halls all day. The final straw was after being there for a week and everyone knowing who we were the server at the beach club walked up to me and my 87 year old Mother and demanded to see our wristbands. He was mad that my Mother that had just been reading and enjoying her day wasn't ordering drinks and food from him and tipping him. We already paid for the privilege of sitting on their long chairs at the beach! We aren't required to eat or drink. Not an isolated event, read their other reviews. Very sad because we really liked it at this resort. We won't be back unless it changes for the better.

It's soooooo cold in NYC and all I can think about is booking a trip to one of my favorite vacation destinations, Mexico! I came here to celebrate my birthday 2 summers ago and I can't stop raving about these shrimp tacos I ate at the beach bar. Man!! Never tasted something so delicious in all my life. This resort is in Isla Mujeres, which is about 13 kilometers off the coast of Cancun. It's about a 20 minute ferry ride and much laid back and tranquil than Cancun itself. There are no cars on the island so you can rent either a scooter or golf cart to explore, but I spent the majority of my time walking around because I didn't want to miss a beat. I did rent a golf cart. I celebrated my birthday here and the staff was amazing! Everything from my room, the food, the drinks, birthday cakes, and the off resort excursions, it was worth every penny. Visiting Chichen Itza was on my bucket list as my 1st of 7 wonders of the world. I'm glad I picked this resort because it was absolutely beautiful. The white sand & crystal clear turquoise water was like heaven on earth. It was a great way to relax and rejuvenate the soul. I did alot of the off resort excursions such as zip lining at XPLOR park which was insane. It was my first time zip lining and I'm so proud of myself for overcoming my fear of heights. I drove the quads through the Mayan jungle and explored the ancient caverns deep within the earth. It was definitely a bucket list experience. If you're celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or just want to do something special with your love one, definitely do the dinner on the beach. It was absolutely breathtaking. It was a 5 course meal and it was delicious! I even got serenaded while I ate. He sung me happy birthday in English & Spanish. I did the all inclusive package and it was worth it. Breakfast was light, refreshing, and tasty. I loved the fresh squeezed juice in the morning. Dinner was delicious. The beach bar serves up some great food. Get the fried fish!!! I had lunch on the beach and whew! Words cannot explain my excitement. The fresh coconuts and amazing drinks on the beach got me wondering, "Why am I still in New York"? It was truly a 6 star experience! Can't wait to visit again.

I wish either I stayed here longer or that I come back bc its worth it. The food is actually really good here, EXCEPT for Satay. Don't waste your time there. The sushi rice was mushy, sweet, and vinegary. The fire dessert tasted bad. The coconut ice cream was actually okay. So was the cracker thing they brought first. The fish from the fish and chips at the beach club was the juciest fish I ever had. The ceviche from the beach club was almost perfect. I drank the juice at the end. The drinks to get are the Pina Colada and the Miami Vice. The breakfast food from Sabor is pretty good. They don't have good gluten free substitutions. The bread that I got when I asked for it tasted weird and was hard. The yogurt toppings they have in the jars next to the cereal are stale. The parfait cups are good. They had beef fajita one day and it was amazing. The orange juice is good and fresh. Their poached eggs are acceptable. And I always got a hash brown. At the pool bar/restaurant, the nachos were perfect. We got to do the Mexican dinner at the beach club. It was not good. It was just bland and boring. I do think the all-inclusive is worth it. I jumped to food so let me go back to check-in and rooms. Check-in was kind of annoying bc we waited 30 minutes to get helped. They have 3 computers and some of the other guests can be pretty entitled, asking for a lot of different things and what not. They also didn't offer anything to make up for that even though we commented on it. There was a bellboy handing out champagne and wet towels. The room was pretty nice. It could use some rugs but otherwise pretty modern. We got an ocean view and there is a huge living room area that we didn't need. I would have liked to try room service but didn't get the chance. I don't know if anyone else mentioned this in their reviews but the hotel's beach club is on Playa Centro even though the name has Norte in it. That seems like a lawsuit (Mexico?) waiting to happen. So if you want to see the nice Norte beach, you need walk through a few other places on the beach. It can get tricky bc the beach cuts off at the corner. But a lot of people were doing it. There was a very rude gringo at the pool one time who was yelling at a staff worker. Nobody stepped in which pissed me off. I walked over to the staff worker to offer my complaint and support. I saw the gringo around in the days after but he didn't act that way again. But I sure was mean mugging him. read more

We stayed here for 5 nights and on night 1, we had a terrible and unsafe encounter with the hotel's security. The security was rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional towards me and my daughters. We went to the lobby immediately and were told no one in charge was there and we needed to wait till the next day to speak to someone. They did not care to even ask about our issue. After speaking to two different managers over the course of two days, we learned that they are dismissive and do not care to make the guests feel safe and happy at their hotel. The food was below standard. The service at the beach and pool is poor. We had to actively look and call for service. Such a shame that the guest experience is not a top priority for this place since the location/hotel is beautiful. read more

Update: After posting this review, I was contacted by the Assistant Director and met with Javier at checkout. He was professional, genuinely apologetic, and handled the conversation the way a hospitality manager should. He listened, acknowledged the issues, and de-escalated appropriately. It's clear he's been trained well. I want to give credit where it's due. My complaints about Andres stand, but Javier restored some of my faith that the hotel's leadership understands how guests should be treated. I really wanted to like Privilege Aluxes. Isla Mujeres is beautiful and we were looking forward to a relaxing few days. Unfortunately, this hotel made that difficult at nearly every turn. We booked a four-night stay and were placed in a suite that shared a wall with what I can only assume was a nightclub. The music was deafening, going until 4am one night and around midnight on others. Not exactly the peaceful beach vacation we had in mind. We were also told a complimentary bottle of liquor would be delivered to our room. It never came, and we never bothered following up because by that point we had bigger concerns. At check-in, we let the front desk know my wife has a gluten intolerance. They wrote it down. That was the last time anyone seemed to remember. Every restaurant on the property tried to serve her items with gluten. Staff could not tell us what was safe to eat and confidently told her certain dishes were fine when they absolutely were not. She spent most of the trip eating chips and guacamole because she was genuinely afraid of getting sick. For a resort that specifically asks about allergies, the lack of communication between the front desk and the kitchen was honestly dangerous. The most frustrating part came when we tried to extend our stay by one night. The acting manager, Andres, quoted us $800. I showed him the hotel's own website listing the same suite at $662 and a standard room at $451. He shrugged and told us we should book online if it was cheaper because he could not help us. So we booked through Expedia. The next morning we were told we had to leave the property for three hours between checkout and check-in, despite this being a continuous reservation at the same hotel. We could see rooms listed as available online. When we brought this up, he claimed nothing was open. It felt like retaliation for not paying his inflated rate. No offer of late checkout. No early check-in. Not even a suggestion to use the pool or beach while we waited. Just be out by noon. I calmly explained that our experience had not been great and that this could be a chance to turn things around. He was completely uninterested. On top of all this, the bartender at the Playa Norte beach club was rude every time we interacted with him. The service overall felt undertrained and indifferent. I do not write reviews like this often, but I would hate for someone else to spend this kind of money and walk away feeling the way we did. There are other hotels on Isla Mujeres that will treat you better. read more

We won't be back unless it changes for the better. read more

DO NOT BOOK HERE. Terrible staff. I had a wedding on the island and had 6 guest parties stay here and ALL had problems. I am so saddened I ever put this suggestion on our list. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DO A WEDDING HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED POORLY!!!!! This is yet another example of a predatory business. I will never spend another dime at this place!!!! read more

My wife and I just returned yesterday from a 5- night stay. The staff is outstanding, top to bottom. The resort is extremely well maintained and the rooms were spacious and cleaned well each day. Drinks are deliberately made weak, but in addition to the expected Margarita, Piña Colada & Mai Tai, there are several other frozen drinks that are quite delicious. My wife is a devotee of the Mango Tango. The breakfast buffet at Sabor offers a huge variety of options from 7-11. The beach snacks / lunch offerings didn't appeal to me, except for the mixed ceviche which was solid. The beach is perfect however there is a beach club next door that played bad music way too loud at times, but I've experienced a lot worse. We are peaceful & quiet beach scene people, so we didn't exactly get that. The no children under 14 rule was noticeable and welcome. As the parents of 6 we love children, but we're done with that part of life and again, because we were looking for a peace & quiet vacation it was appreciated. We were celebrating our anniversary and when we returned to the room on our first full day we were greeted by a room artfully decorated with roses petals and a towel fashioned like a swan as well as champagne on ice. We will never stay anywhere else in Isla Mujeres. read more

Hotel staff is beyond rude. I was on the 5th floor with the elevator out for 2 days. I had to leave for a family emergency and they would not refund me the one night of 5! Still shocked at the rude greeting, the fact that no one can visit you if they don't have a bracelet from hotel. There are NO ice makers available for the public. Ordered ice 3 times for the suite, never received it. Other visitors said the same thing. Rude staff! read more

It is across the street from an elementary school and next to a cemetery. The hotel was not secured by any type of gate, and the property was open for anyone to walk through. The check-in process wasn't very friendly, and we weren't offered any type of "welcome" drink as most all-inclusive resorts provide. Our room was on the 4th floor, and when it would rain, the door to the patio would leak, and we would have water all over the floor every time. Our hot tub wasn't clean and had only cold water. On the 2nd night, our A/C stopped working, and it was extremely hot. Only about 4 restaurant options and some closed on certain nights. Satay was the Asian restaurant and surprisingly had very delicious food. The breakfast buffet at Sabor was mediocre and did not have too many options. The beach club for dinner also wasn't the best either, but it did offer excellent dessert. The restaurant by the pool had okay burgers but nothing extraordinary. Speaking of the pool, the pool bar did not open until 10 am and at 10:05am the bar staff said they would not serve us because their watch said it was 9:50am which did not make sense. I had to walk to another bar to get service. The pool water was the perfect temperature, but the black wood surroundings would get extremely hot if you were barefoot on it. Some days, they had live music by the pool, and other days, it was quiet. My dad was told in the morning that he could not sit in the beach chairs unless he paid $40. We went back to the beach chairs each evening around 5 pm and were able to sit for free. The mini fridge in the room had a pretty good selection of beers, chocolate, chips, and sodas. My dad's room has a nice view of the cemetery next door. Room service was 24 hours a day, which came in handy. The resort is very quiet and does not have any type of events going on at all. No morning yoga, no night life at the hotel, nothing. We rented a golf cart from the hotel, and that was fun. The hotel is not completely handicap friendly. The only restroom available in the lobby is down a flight of stairs. The elevators are tiny and take a very long time. This is a nice place if you want a quiet place to be. It does have a nice beach area. read more

Can't wait to visit again. read more

Just returned from 4 days at this resort. We chose the all inclusive package, it was great. The food, drinks and staff were outstanding. The rooms are spacious and very nice. The pool area is laid out well with a swim up bar and an outdoor kitchen for food. Just across the street is the private beach area with cabanas and shades beach chairs. This resort is on the north end of the island only a 10 minutes from the ferry. It is a 2 minute walk to Hidalgo Street, food, bars and vender. This easily could get 5 Stars...I just don't give 5 Stars. We will return. read more

Seems great initially and overall, the staff is incredible. However, the management is terrible. We paid for a room with a jacuzzi and we had zero hot water throughout the room or 6 night stay except for the last day. I brought this up multiple times to management and they refused to move us to a new room. Come to find out from other guests that the issue was building wide. Maintenance came to "repair" it which did absolutely nothing. The concierge was incredibly dismissive. Our concerns were then escalated to the General Manager Diego. Initially he came across as wanting to help resolve the issue. He said he could t put us in another room but that he could offer us one day of an all inclusive wrist band (we go to Isla every year, so opted out of the full all inclusive as we prefer to go out to the local restaurants on the island) and a free couples massage. While we didn't really need the wrist bands, the massage gesture was nice albeit it did not resolve the maintenance issue. On about day 4 of our trip, I went to Diego again to tell him that there was STILL no hot water. He proceeded to tell me "that's not true," implying that I was lying. I had nothing to gain and simply wanted a working shower that we paid for; I would have much rather been by the pool or the beach instead of being treated terribly by management. I said that I would wait in the lobby until maintenance could meet me to repair the hot water issue and I was told by Diego that I could wait all day and then walked away. Definitely will not be staying here again as the management does not take care of its guests or exhibit basic customer service read more

This resort was recommended to us by two sets of friends. It was our first experience with an all inclusive resort. The front desk staff greeted us with water and champagne. While the staff behind the desk was not particularly friendly, they did everything we needed and got us checked in. Our room was clean and everything was in order. The food quality and presentation were excellent. During some of our meals, the restaurant was crowded and the waitstaff got behind. However, it was nothing that a deep breath couldn't clear up. Speaking of the waitstaff, they were very friendly and took very good care of us. All the restaurants were excellent. The beach and pool areas were very well kept. We felt safe both on the property as well as walking around town. We will definitely return! read more

First of all, I never leave reviews, and I rarely complain about anything, even when faced with poor customer service / quality of products. I am more of a "s**t happens" kind of person. But this hotel has treated me worse than I ever thought possible. Do not stay here. 1. If you decide to make the mistake of being a guest at this hotel - DO NOT BOOK DIRECT WITH THEM. We booked a package vacation with the hotel (flight and room) and then the flight was cancelled. The hotel rebooked us on another flight that arrived too late to get us on the last ferry to get to the hotel. The hotel didn't notice this and we would have been stranded at the airport overnight if we had not done the research and contacted the ferry company ourselves. I spent literally 6 hours on the phone trying to resolve this with the hotel call centre in Madrid over the course of 3 weeks. They did nothing to help. The airline refunded us the difference in price for the flights, but the hotel did not refund the night we would have spent in the airport. Basically it felt like we were told "tough luck that the package vacation we sold you is physically impossible for you to use - we will not be refunding you the night we sold you". 2. If you make the mistake of booking with this hotel - for the love of god, DO NOT GET THE ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE The food is horrendous. Literally inedible. How on earth they manage to mess up tacos in Mexico is a mystery i will never understand. The only good part about this experience is that now whenever i eat tacos anywhere else in the world, i have a funny story about this "Luxury" resort. They managed to find a cut of meat for the "steak" that was more gristle and fat than meat - i literally didn't know a part of an animal existed that was as indelible as this. The food was so bad that we literally stopped using our all inclusive. We ate out for lunch and dinner. The drinks are equally as terrible, heavily watered down beer and liquor. The liquor has a weird and highly suspicious taste to it. The staff at the Sabor restaurant are the grumpiest people I have ever met, they seemed genuinely annoyed by the presence of their guests. The treatment you got from staff anywhere else depended on how much you tipped them. Warning: They expect BIG tips for every little interaction or service. It is horrendous. If you make the mistake of coming to this hotel bring at least $80 USD in tips per day if you want to be served like a human being. 3. The beach club is across a small road from the main resort (no big deal). But it is where the day trippers from Cancun disembark all day. Constant chaos on the beach. 4.This is not a luxurious hotel at all. It's a crumbling rotten husk of a business. The only thing luxurious about this hotel is the name. There is no way that this is close to being a 5 star resort. It is 3 stars at best. I just want to remind you all that again - I almost never leave reviews. But this hotel is by far the worst place i have ever had the misfortune of stumbling upon. A Final Note: They are going to write a response to this along the lines of "We are surprised to learn you didn't like our grumpy staff, our horrible food, and terrible location - our guests usually like it". They do not care, they are not surprised. There were a constant stream of guests complaining to the uninterested staff at the front desk almost every time we walked past. The response they write to these reviews is probably the only time they actually care about the experience of their guests. Please mark this review as helpful if it has made you decide to not stay at this hotel. The only thing that would satisfy me at this point is making them realise that there are real world consequences to their terrible business practices. Do not book here. You will regret it. read more

AVOID THIS HOTEL! I stayed at this hotel June 4-8, 2023 and it was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. My sister had her wedding in Isla Mujeres and brought roughly 60-70 guests to this hotel and the front desk staff was extremely unaccommodating and unpleasant throughout the entire stay. -- My room had a leak THREE separate times throughout my stay- once from the pipe under the sink and twice from the ceiling. The second time it took the staff 4 hours to address and they lied and said they had already sent someone up when clearly nobody had cleaned up the pool of water on the floor. Not only did it take forever to address, the staff did not apologize about the leak or attempt any urgency to resolve it. The elevator at multiple buildings was out of service more than once. The front desk staff refused to accommodate any requests from my sister, the bride, and to top it all off, they refused to let her back in the hotel on her wedding night because she had cut off the hotel wristband since she didn't want the wristband in her photos. She had to argue with the front staff that she was a hotel guest while she was still in her wedding gown. Although the front desk staff was horrible, the staff throughout the rest of the hotel (bellman, housekeeper, wait staff at restaurant) was the best- very friendly, great service, and even shared recommendations throughout the island. -- Advice to management: train your front desk staff on customer service and how to make a guest feel welcome and want to return. Learn how to accommodate reasonable requests from hotel guests, especially when they're paying and bringing all their wedding guests to this hotel. Advice to potential guests: take your money and stay at any other hotel. read more

This review is a result of being asked to sign an Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). I am posting this on various review sites for visibility. Note: TLDR / Summary at the end. We really, REALLY wanted to like this place, but there were a number of things which made this part of our vacation just a little sour. This was our first time visiting Mexico, and by this time we have already completed our stay at the all-inclusive Panama Jack Resort in Cancun and a hotel named Riviera Maya at Playa del Carmen for a few days. Both of which went great. We stayed at Privilege for 6 nights with the Superior Room and Hot Tub for the end of October. On our third night, we encountered a large cockroach running around the bedroom after coming back from dinner. My partner and I like to keep things neat and clean and we are also very conscious about insects and keeping things closed, but nevertheless it is still possible to see cockroaches because of the area. After killing the cockroach, we promptly went to the front desk, and although they were fully booked, they tried their best to find us another room just for the night but also for the rest of our stay (possibly downgrade). We decided that we liked the hot tub, so we let maintenance apply some spray that night, and we were told they would make a report. The resort would also deep clean and fumigate the room the next day. The next day we left around noon and spent time at the beach while they cleaned and fumigated the room. When we returned, they added a nice decoration on the bed (pic attached). But the following morning, we saw another, immobilized but barely alive, cockroach in the bathroom (pic attached). The fumigation appeared to work, it was just very unfortunate that we had to see another one. After killing that cockroach, we picked up a paper notice that was slid under our door, and it said that all rooms were going to be fumigated that day, which seemed like regular maintenance being done and/or a step taken as a result of our cockroach encounter. We left for the beach while they deep cleaned and fumigated the room again. When we returned in the evening, they gave us a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries (pic attached). Thankfully, no more cockroaches were encountered for the rest of our stay. However, on the next day, my partner realized that money was stolen from her zipper wallet which was inside the bottom of her backpack, and from the 3 different types of currency she was carrying (USD, euros, pesos). Ever since COVID, we didn't like people coming in to clean our room, but because of the cockroach situation, we definitely wanted the room cleaned up. We already had our passports and other documents in the safe, but since we had to leave the room for cleaning and fumigation, her zipper wallet was left in her backpack. Could we have placed the money/wallet in the safe? (which was ultimately our responsibility) Sure, but after their help and assistance with our cockroach issue, we obviously felt safe and trusted the workers employed at this 5-star resort. We don't know exactly who may have taken the money, but it was very disappointing to see. Front desk made a report and security assisted with the situation. On the last couple of days, they offered different types of compensation such as a free night or a refund for a couple all-inclusive days. BUT if we were to receive any compensation, we would have to basically sign a NDA to not write a review about our experience. As someone who doesn't regularly write reviews, this rubbed me the wrong way so we didn't sign anything. Positives?: All the food and drinks (and all-inclusive perks) we tried such as their breakfast and dinner buffet, beach club, and Rodizio were amazing. The location of the resort is excellent, since you have North Beach and local restaurants and shops nearby and/or walking distance. Some workers who went above and beyond to give us an exceptional experience: -Johnny(?), who helped us with check-in -Jose, who helped with our bags -Martin, who helped with everything dinner related. We have seen regular visitors talk to him and we see how much they love him, and we love him too. He would probably be the only reason we would consider going back. I know new people and their regular guests will continue to still go there, as they appear to always be busy, but we just want people to be aware of our experience. We hope that we just had an unlucky stay and others will have a completely, better experience, because there are definitely workers who make this place and experience feel like a legit 5-star resort. TLDR: All-inclusive, food/drinks are amazing. The location is excellent for local shops, restaurants, and North Beach. Encountered two cockroaches. Money was stolen from our room. Hotel wanted us to sign an NDA for any compensation (for cockroaches). Workers like Martin are one of the best people you will ever meet. read more

My husband and I came back for our second trip to isla last week from Saturday to Saturday! We stayed at PA and had AI ( $40 a day for 2 people) and upgraded from a standard room to an ocean view with balcony for $490 total more. It was an anniversary celebration and when we got in our room there was wine chilled and a desert! The rock. Was amazing! Huge bedroom, nice bathroom and big living rooms! Some things I would change is no cups, wine glasses, silverware or plates in the kitchenette... what is it for? Also the balcony was beautiful but the two chairs were metal and so uncomfortable! We still sat out and had a night cap every night but lounge chairs or chairs with cushions would be a huge upgrade! Food at PA was pretty good! We had breakfast in the Buffett and lunch at the beach on our chairs! We enjoyed the quesadillas, shrimp tacos, pork tacos and was surprised how great the chicken fingers and onion rings were! We found Antonio to be the best beach server and was highly attentive! These guys were hard! It was slow season and they were RUNNING around! We had 3 massages in the hut next to PA for $25 US dollars or 500 pesos! It was well worth it! Highly recommend! Went every night for dinner and drinks at hildago and music at the joint or el patio! We spent an extra $1000 on drinks and food on that street , we loved it! Our favorite dinner by far was Limon. Husband had the stuffed shrimp and I had the pork chop! Was the best! Anniversary dinner at Olivia's was beautiful, BuT we were in and out in 40 minutes ... felt very rushed! We had the absolute best lunch at Marbella! After we sat down we were both so nervous it would be like $200, but it wasn't at all! It was the best service we had had on the whole island! It was so hot that day and they put fans right on our table! Beautiful wine selection too! Great complimentary chips and salsas! We chose a white fish to have fried fish tacos our whole bill was $35 not including tip. Well worth it! The sunsets were amazing and the people were amazing and we can't wait to return! read more

First time in isla mujeres and we absolutely loved the island. This hotel, not so much. It has positives and negatives so let's get to it- Positives: Spa was wonderful. The massages are so cheap that you need to book one everyday. We did! The room was very modern. Loved the big bathroom and shower. Water pressure was great. The pool was never crowded. Ice cream was delicious! Negatives: The place was not full capacity so why we were placed in a room next to a room that's being renovated is beyond me. Construction started at 9 so sleeping in was not an option. Service was a hit or miss. Some employees were very friendly and helpful while some couldn't be bothered. I'm actually jealous of those guests who raved about how great their service was. They lost our reservations to satay. When we got there, they can't find our room number and we were never offered one of the open tables that they have and basically just turned us away. Food in all the restaurants were just okay, nothing to write home about. Most of the time it is very bland. On our last day/night, when we came back to our room, it had a gasoline smell. I called the front desk and told them about it and we waited for someone to come up. Nobody did so went out for dinner. We left the balcony door open to air it out but when we came back, the smell was still there so I called again. I was told that someone came up earlier but we had out do not disturb sign so they didn't bother knocking. I made sure that the sign was out and this time they knocked. Long story short we wanted a different room since the gasoline smell was so bad we weren't going to spend the night there. They hesitated about giving us a new room and I wasn't going to be bullied into spending a night in an unsafe place- took them a while to call us back with a new room. Really? That's not how you treat guests. We never got an apology about it either. read more

We stopped in at the hotel yesterday. We were hoping to be able to browse the hotel for 5 minutes (escorted would have been fine) to see if it would be our style for the next time we come to Isla Mujeres. Unfortunately, they could not accommodate a 5 minute walk around the property and were a little rude about it. I can only assume that the property is dated and the views for most rooms are okay at best. That I what we gathered from what we could see from the outside. We are at the Izla Hotel now, which is amazing, but a 10 minute drive to the amazing North beaches. Looks like we will book again at Izla Hotel and drive to the beach. read more

Well lots to say about this resort. First off it needs a serious maintenance overhaul. It would take 10 minutes for my key to open the door. I asked our house keeper to help me get in. She wouldn't and sent me to front desk. I went to from t desk and they replaced my key. Of course that didn't work. Again another 10 minutes of trying the key before it worked. I tried calling the front desk to tell them but of course the phone didn't work. So I had to track downstairs again because the elevator was also broken. The front desk person said let me send one of our bell men with you to check the keys. I said no it doesn't work and I've already spent 45 minutes on this. Just fix it. So later after spending day at the beach we headed to room to clean up for dinner. Guess what they didn't fix the door. 10 minutes later I finally got in. Wife started shower and I went to front desk again. They sent maintenance to fix. He was there for 1.5 hours. We couldn't leave because he had the lock completely off the door and keep leaving to get parts. We were starving and went to the mini bar to get snacks but of course there weren't any because they couldn't get in either. Called front desk and they said call house keeping and they said we only replace once a day. They didn't replace and refused to bring any. I asked for a manager to contact me and no management on property supposedly. My wife lost her shit and went back to front desk and told them we need another room immediately. They finally moved us. No help to move our stuff. Just gave her a new key. We were so inconvenienced and zero apologies or anything. I don't recommend this place. Also the food is beyond disgusting. read more

It was Okay, the food is good, I have two complaints! The 1st one it's the two huge waterbugs that were in the room the 1st night and second the sliding door in the room was outdated; it was hard to open and then it slammed and I hurt my finger really bad and I'm still in pain from it! The island itself it's beautiful! Staff is good too read more

Very disappointed with this stay employees are very rude. My family and I spend over 10k to stay there. They told us if we wanted a visitor overnight we would have to pay 50 dollars. So We met up with my cousin that came from Cancun and we went drinking and he decided he wanted to stay because it got too late for the ferry and when we got back to the hotel they wouldn't let him spend the night even if we paid for him. They said we had to wait till morning to "check in" which is ridiculous it's a 50 dollar payment which we had no problem paying but they kept denying. So my cousin and I had to sleep out on the beach for 6 hours till we could get him in. Which don't get me wrong the beach was nice but if we're on vacation and spent all together over 10k to stay there I would like to be in my air conditioned room. Other than all that rooms were okay view was best part of the whole hotel read more

LOVE this resort. They are so nice and helpful. The people who work here are amazing. We mentioned when checking in that it was our honeymoon and the next day the hotel sent us a bottle of pink champagne as a gift and decorated the room with rose petals. The all inclusive option is the way to go. We ate and drank all day long and the only thing we had to do was provide our room number. For food, we really liked the breakfast bar at sabor. The cappuccino is delish and there is an omelet bar. The beach club is great for lunch. By far our favorite spot. They have a lot of American style food that was very yummy. Plus a great view. We enjoyed dinner at all the locations. The staff at the restaurants are very polite, going as far to hold my chair for me and unfold my napkin. Sometimes the wait for food at all the restaurants can be a little lengthy but we were never in any rush. ROOMS: SUPER CLEAN. We stayed in suite deluxe with an ocean/pool view. It was great and huge. The shower/ jacuzzi bathtub was right up our alley. My only complaint is that the sink water never gets as warm as i like it. The suite deluxe has a beautiful balcony (no jacuzzi) with chairs if you like to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The mini bar was perfect for us. It had two bags of chips (mini), beer, soda, OJ, and water. It gets refilled everyday and is "free" for all inclusive guests! We really enjoyed our stay here! If you're Looking for an activity to do, ask the front desk about renting a golf cart and take it around the island! There are lots of tourist shops and our personal favorite was the turtle farm. read more

Overall, we had a pleasant experience at this resort however based on the hotel star rating, I would not rate this as A 5-star hotel/resort. For reference, my definition of a 5 star is based on hotels such as - the Peninsula Hotels (Chicago, New York, Hong Kong), The St Regis hotels (Rome, Hawaii, Paris), Le Méridien hotels (London, Frankfurt), the Conrad hotel (Manila). That said, the Privilege Aluxes, is perfectly fine... I'd rate the grounds as a 4 star- mostly because of all the resorts on the island, they have the best beach and is walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops. The room we had was nice- very big and ocean facing. We had a hot tub on the balcony. Our air conditioning worked fine but I've observed that it's hit or miss depending on your room, as we ran into others that had problems. I'm not sure if it was user error or technical issues but being on an island, things are slower to get fixed, I'm assuming because of availability of parts etc. Service is also hit or miss- we either had excellent service or poor service - there is no consistency. One example, Our concierge failed to tell us that the excursion we booked did not include a ride back to the resort. Wasn't a big deal in the end but we were all (another couple from the resort that we met on the excursion) just standing there wonder where to go and what to do. I'll chalk it up to cultural differences or things getting lost in translation and in our case, staff being overwhelmed- we went at the start of the Covid delta- and I'm assuming there was a lot of staff that didn't make it in. (Benefit of the doubt here...) but some of the issues were definitely training related. If you do all inclusive, I would say that if they're offering a Brazilian steak night, skip it. The all inclusive food is just ok- nothing special but not terrible. The ceviche is actually pretty good! All that said, the island is fantastic and if you can rent a golf cart for a few days- do it and explore the island. I felt very safe - even went for early morning runs through the town. We would go back and we would stay at this resort again with different expectations and all will be well! Just don't pay 5 star prices. . Hope this was helpful! Ps, if you do the whale shark excursion- almost half the boat got sick so use the pressure bands and take Dramamine an hour before you get on the boat! It's a cool experience abs thankfully I didn't get sick. If they rated this hotel as a 4 star, I'd have given it a 4 star review. Covid testing was easy- they come to your room. Enjoy your holiday! read more
I can't end the year without reviewing my week-long summer vacation in Privilege Aluxes! I had some trouble getting recent detailed reviews of this place so I'll try to provide as much insight here (prepare for a long read): I booked an all inclusive vacation package for mid July 2019 through Expedia. The booking was seamless and required no effort in terms of planning. Once I got off the plane in Cancun, I found the transportation service (shuttle bus) which I had previously added onto my booking. The shuttle took me directly to the pier where I was able to get on the next available ferry. The ferry ride takes approximately 20 min or so. Once I got into the island, a taxi (which was also included in my booking), took me directly to the Privilege Aluxes resort! Our check-in was relatively quick. We were given ice cold towels and cold water bottles by the front desk staff - what a nice touch! I know some couples who received champagne at check-in. We arrived earlier than the scheduled check-in, but the staff will let you change clothes and store away your luggage until your room is ready. That's right...you can start your dream island vacation pretty much as soon as you set foot on the resort. There are a few restaurants to choose from and they're in close proximity to each other. The only one that I didn't really care for is Satay. The food there is ALRIGHT...as in edible..but nothing more than that. But when visiting Mexico, you're not really looking for good quality Asian-fusion cuisine right? Stick with the seafood and you won't be disappointed! The buffet brunch and theme dinners at the beach club were my favorite meals. The all inclusive package is 100% worth it and I can't imagine not having this option. It made for a truly stress free vacation since I constantly had food available to me lol...that includes poolside service, beach service, and room service! The room was fairly standard. I did like that the shower was spacious. No carpeting. I loved watching the sunset every night from the balcony. The staff is very friendly and super attentive! One server was particularly amazing (shoutout to Sammy!). The pools are very clean and well maintained. I loved the swim up pool bar which also featured a food station right behind it- perfect for an afternoon snack after a long day of swimming and relaxing! What a life! At night, be sure to take a walk downtown to visit the local shops and restaurants. During the day, rent a golf cart and explore the entire island! Golf cart rentals along with other daily excursions can be coordinated with the front desk. I've never been to an all inclusive resort as an adult so I don't have much to compare to. However I will say that I did love how this place was more so on the smaller side and wasn't packed with crazy party goers. You could walk from your room to the beach in less than 10 minutes. The water is crystal clear blue and the sunsets are lovely. I loved this resort and island! I cannot wait to return for another trip (minus the crazy sunburn I received!). 10/10 experience! read more

we planned a family vacation for 7 and will not be returning. We paid for all of us to be all-inclusive as well as the Presidential suite and an extra room with a hot tub. very excited to go as all we heard were good things. It started when our transfers through the hotel were not at the airport to pick us up. we called 3 times and after more than 30 minutes, someone finally showed up and wanted to shoehorn all 7 of us in a Ford expedition with lots of luggage. we asked if we could have the van, which was the original plan, they finally agreed to it. When entering the Hotel, we were not greeted as the employees were talking amongst themselves and I literally had to say "HELLO"? room was great except for the terrible a/c which could not keep the room cooled. the second day the electricity went out 5 times but fortunately it was only for a couple of minutes at a time. then one of the bathroom showers would not drain and the a/c unit was streaming water into the bathroom from the ceiling. maintenance was called and they repaired both, allegedly...The a/c continued to struggle that day and by the time we went to bed it was warm so we called maintenance again. they did something to our unit and said you should feel the difference soon. 4AM, wake up in a pool of sweat!!! yup, no working a/c!!!! We were celebrating my daughters birthday and the Hotel would not help with planning anything so we made a dinner reservation off property and were very delighted with everything. Then we went to speak to the Concierge about renting 2 cabanas and the reception was very rude and condescending. I could not believe the attitude and tone he had with me. I just got up and walked away. Clearly, this is the hospitality business but he had no business working in it. I was so done at this point. The final day I woke up to share the bathroom with a large roach. Pictures attached. There were a couple of outstanding employees who went above and beyond.... Johnny at the front desk. Elena at the pool restaurant and Rodizio, Masi at the beach and Luis, our main room guy... read more

Be aware when you book this resort through their website you are not booking with them directly rather a third party. Even if you purchase the insurance for your trip the hotel will not honor it. They booked us with a departure flight with Sun Country airline, who at the last minute cancel the flight until the next day because the pilot and staff have max the hrs of flight time allowed and there was no backup staff. This was at NO fault of the travers. The hotel and their booking agent did nothing to try and help. We were out a full day and a half from our hotel stay. The hotel was not welling to accommodate us for an extra night to make up the day that we had already purchased. Nothing! The reservation person at the hotel was very rude and had poor customer service. The insurance was useless and very hard to contact them. To this day, I'm still waiting for a reply from them. The rest of hotel staff, food and restaurant were nice and friendly. read more

I would give this hotel 0 stars if I could. If you enjoy being scammed of your money left and right and being stalked by a hostile hotel staff then this is the hotel for you. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding at this location and the hotel staff single-handedly ruined my friend's wedding weekend and made her cry on her wedding day. They also threaten to call security on me if I did not upgrade my wristband which was paid for in advance and I signed paperwork for, how classy of them! I am already working with my bank to contest those charges. There are other resorts on this island with kinder and more accommodating staff please take your business elsewhere, trust me on this. And if you're considering getting married here don't unless you want lots of drama, hostility, threats and bogus charges. read more

This is the second time We have stayed here each time for our anniversary in February. This place deserves more than five stars! For one the staff is genuinely kind and very happy. They helped me so much that it started to make me feel uncomfortable! The rooms are impeccable so very clean and light and pretty! The food is off the hook! We had the all inclusive package both times so we did a lot of eating here. They have a different themed buffet each night and in different locations. Sometimes in the restaurant, the beach and even the pool!!! We used room service a lot this time. They are so fast and The food was equally epic! The salon services are great. I would like to give a shout out to the manager Rosane. I got my appointment mixed up and showed up an hour late and she happily gave me a pedicure herself! I ended up having a great conversation with her. There is also the concierge, Jaime. He set us up with a couple tours again and his knowledge of every tour they offer is more than what I could've asked for. He remembered us each day and asked how we were doing. We even shared some time with the bartender Omar as we had each gotten similar tattoos at the same place! He is such a nice family man and his drinks......Yummy!!! There are no words to express the beauty And serenity of this place. Great beach, great food, great rooms, great people, great service! See again you next February!!!! Bye bye Isla for now!! read more

The location and beach are beautiful and the food, drinks and spa were amazing, but if you are going as a large group (6+) be prepared to be disappointed with the service. We had to wait over 1 hour for food at the beach club that had to be ordered twice, on two different days, and then we got double orders all at once. We were watching other tables (30+minutes later)get seated, order and get food after we had sat down. Most of the staff made our whole group feel like we were an inconvenience to them when asking for food or drinks in an all-inclusive resort. We would have breakfast and lunch as individual couples and we all still had service issues. So we knew it was primarily a group thing. We litterally got fussed at by two staff members for asking to sit tables together for our group in Sabor and at the beach club. The older guy in black uniform at Sabor threw a huge fit when we asked to sit together. Trying to just be served water or coffee in the morning at Sabor breakfast was frustrating. You were ignored or had to ask a couple of times for the drinks while staff was walking past your table or just standing at the bar. The pool bar shuts down at 6pm and the pool at 8pm everyday. Why close the bar 2 hours early when you have a band playing and a full pool of people till 730-8pm?? Didn't make sense to anyone there. The pool itself is beautiful, but HOT, like hot tub hot, at anytime of the day. Now for the bright spots, the food and desserts at Satay and Ridizio were some of the best. Just make sure you book your reservations in advance for both, they do not allow walkins. Satay was dead at 730 one night and they told us we couldn't eat without a reservation. The spa was probably one of the best experiences my husband and I had there. So releaxed, very friendly, and pricing was great, some days were 20-50% off. There were some staff members that made up for the rudeness of others and that was Eduardo at the beach club and Fernando at Sabor. They turned it around for our group, and we had a better dining/service experience with them specifically. Would we come back, probably not. But if you are looking for a place that is super quiet after 8pm, and you dont mind service issues this is the place. Just dont bring a group, as a couple or single you would probably have a better experience. We expected and came for an all-inclusive experience and left a little disappointed. read more

Good breakfast buffet. They have Lots of selection and good quality. They are 2 nice pools, poolside cabanas and beds, and the rooms are large and nice. We had a 2 bedroom balcony with king bed and beautiful view. The maids clean up well, and there is a nice bathroom with large shower. The mini bar is also well stocked with food and alcohol. The Wifi is not strong, and it cuts out every time you sign off. Do not stay here if you need stable Wifi for work. Security is around at all times, and overall the hotel was a pleasant stay. read more
