This place RUINED my vehicle. I took my vehicle there to be diagnosed for a problem with the motor…read moreso they could run everything through carshield and fix it and get me my car back. Well, let the nightmare begin. I get a call that my keys don't communicate with the vehicle, funny, I never had any problems and neither did the tow truck driver the day BEFORE I got this call. So they say they have to remove ONE BOX for it to work. I say ok your the PROFESSIONAL do what you think is supposed to be done to fix my car. Well, that leads to wires being cut, fuse box disconnected and left like that, 3 computers being deprogrammed, and I STILL have not gotten a diagnosis. Not to mention they tried to charge me for a diagnosis they NEVER did and charged me $80 to tow my vehicle from one lot to one right next to it. So thanks to this garage, my vehicle needs a $1600 wiring harness, 3 computers reprogrammed, and only God knows what else because this is where the new mechanic got before I had to tell him to stop because I now have to get rid of the vehicle in the state it is in because I can't afford repairs that this garage has caused on top of the problem they NEVER even diagnosed. I am now out a vehicle to get my kids around thanks to Auto Tech. Oh and when I came in to tell them what the initial problem with my motor was doing, the sounds it made and how it acted, the confused look on supposed to be experienced mechanics, should have been my sign to take my vehicle elsewhere. Just be cautious of sending your vehicle here, if I hadn't I'm almost certain I would have my car back by now, instead I'm out $5,000 for the car that we just bought in February, and time, and a way to get my kids where they need to go.

So i purchased a vehicle on Sept 29 2019. I saw it on FB marketplace on the 28th. I messaged Steve…read morevia Messenger and asked a few questions about the vehicle. It was listed as one price but I offered cash down and the option to make payments. He gave me his minimum down & thoroughly expressed he would come pick it up if I refused the remaining balance. I understood completely & said he had nothing to worry about. I told Steve I would be traveling from Greensboro and that I would have to find a ride. I ended up contacting him on Sunday, the day of purchase to come look at the vehicle. I wanted to set up a time because someone else would have to bring me. We communicated all of this through messenger. I informed him of what time my ride would be available to bring me and he said that was fine because it would be after he left church. I traveled about an hr with my kids in tow to view and test drive this vehicle. I did a test drive and thought the car was reasonable for what I saw that day. I did ask when was the ladt time it had an oil change & was told I don't know. (I should have taken the hint then) It didnt appear to show any major issues that I have experienced in my past with other vehicles. I had read the description of the minor issues that could be fixed but I had no idea what I was in for. I told Steve I wanted it and was asked to wait behind a cash paying customer because their process was going to be easier. I came into the office belly & kids in tow. Steve asked do you have more you can put down today? I said no, I only have enough left to add on my insurance & get gas. He said that's fine, we will work something out. He asks a few more questions & out comes the contract. He even had me set with 30 day tags which I had requested. He reduced the price $500 than the windsheild price & $400 less than the FB listing. I was in shocking. I've been in need of a vehicle especially with a full time job, 2 kids & 1 on the way. I said Steve, you've made my day I want to cry. He said no problem. Can you make this 1 last payment and it's all yours. I said of course I can do in within a months time. I signed all documents and continued on back to Greensboro. Less than 4 hours later, I began to see a bluish white smoke coming from the exhaust. The plan was to get an oil change and/or tune up during the week and gradually get small items checked on. The smoke issue began to fade then Oct 1 2019 my ABS and brake lights come on. The brake pedal feltna little off so I figured I would get that looked at once i went to get the other services and we should be fine. Then comes Oct 2 2019 when I left work and the smoke appeared again. I check the coolant and oil which appeared fine with my experience and proceeded to drive my 4.5 miles home. Not even 1 min into my ride th car began smoking yet again and idling very rough. I said let me get home and take this to the shop in the morning. Of course, I had to find the funds to get it looked at and all 3 service specialists I spoke with were in shock. They asked how I even made it to into the service center. There is over $1,100 worth of worth to consider the vehicle safe. They say there is no way this vehicle could have passed inspection on Sept 25 2019 which was dated in the glove box. Rusted undercarriage, no brake lines, oil gasket leakage, valve stem issues and other items. I put at least $75 in the gas tank and I've only driven my kids to school, then to and from work which are all in close proximity. How could you sell someone a vehicle like this? Or even allow them to test drive it when it is considered unsafe to drive? I'm reached out to him and I'm being put off until next week. I have messaged him on messenger and text after the call while at the service center. I just want my money back and you can have your rusted scrap metal back. Thanks but no thanks. I wouldn't recommend this dealer to my worst enemy.

Doug Walker is about as good it gets in terms of finding a mechanic who:…read more1. Knows his stuff. 2. Works on import cars. 3. Is honest, reliable & does what he says. 4. Is someone you can trust to do a job & to do it right. 5. Is able to communicate what is happening to someone's vehicle to just about anyone regardless of their mechanical knowledge, and does so in a way that helps the owner make educated decisions about how best to keep their car in good running order. I live about 50 miles away & will take a vehicle to him to be worked on, as I know others will do as well. Doug's Imports is known thoughout Southside Virginia as being THE place to carry a vehicle - particularly imports - for repairs. I first came into contact with Doug in the late 80's when he had worked for the VW dealership in Martinsville (which closed about the time he opened Doug's Imports). I then dealt directly & got to know him throughout the years as I took my 87 VW Jetta to him (as well as other vehicles) for periodic repair. I've recommended him to others, who have been as happy with their results as I have been with mine. I know that he's worked on friend's Volvo's, Toyotas, BMW's, SAAB's, and Mercedes (in addition to VWs of all types). And I'm sure that list is far more expansive than I could know. Doug knows foreign automobiles like the back of his hand, and is the most thorough mechanic I know of. Specifically, my case in point is a problem I had with my 87 VW Jetta. It would run great all the time, except when the temperature got above about 95 degrees & I would need to go somewhere during the day. I could go out & try to crank it until the battery ran completely down - it would not fire at all. However, the next day, when it was 95 degrees then too (and I did NOT need to go anywhere during the day), I would leave work & it'd fire right up & run fine. It was only during days when the air temperature would get over 95 & I needed to go somewhere during the day that I'd encounter the problem with it not firing at all. Morning, night, rain, cool days - it would run great. But on days when it was super-hot, I could just about bet on it giving me a problem. I took my VW to Doug - which naturally brought on a cool spell, during which the car cranked for him flawlessly. It wasn't until we had a scalding hot day a few days later that Doug was able to reproduce my problem, which he was then able to trace, identify & fix in short order. Doug discovered the problem to be a cold solder joint on a fuel sending unit that he could then reproduce on the vehicle. In that, he determined that the intense heat - particularly that reflected off asphalt - was expanding that cold solder joint on the fuel sending unit under the car to the point where it would not make contact enough to send fuel to the engine. If the car was moving, or unused during the day to the point where it cooled off a few degrees when I used it in the afternoons, it would cool sufficiently to make contact to allow the sending unit to work. What Doug did was one thing that won me over as a customer - Instead of taking a shotgun approach - a hasty use of a wide range of problem-solving techniques that would have been nonselective & haphazard in addressing the problem - something that could have needlessly replaced a number of functioning components on the vehicle that were not related to the actual problem, resulting in a repair bill that could have exceeded several hundred dollars or more. Doug instead listened to the person who spent more hours in the car than anyone, and once he was able to reproduce the problem, quickly zeroed in on the issue, fixed it & had it back to me within a couple days, for less than $250. And, it was a problem which has never happened again. Now, that is a thorough mechanic. A 5 star rating is not high enough for Doug's Imports. My personal experience with them has been far & above any others I can compare it to. They know that one reason you purchased an import car was the reliability factor & that with proper care most foreign automobiles are capable of being 200,000+ mile vehicles. And too, they realize that their long-term success is in earning your repeat business, and the business that comes from your recommendations - neither of which is likely to occur if you are having to take it back & forth to have the same thing fixed again & again. That's why they strive to identify & fix the problem the FIRST time. If the above isn't sufficient to get you to go to Doug's Imports, add to it that Doug is a super person, is easy to deal with, and is one of the nicest folks you could ever want to meet.

Supposedly they had already done it so I had to accept it. You know like the extra groceries they charge you for at the store and you have to buy them because they already put them in the bag, or the when the plumber charged you for a new toilet though you only wanted it un-clogged but he already installed it, oh and it happens to be one them Japanese high tech toilets so it's thousands extra. But wait Gunter Automotive doesn't have a cool off period, and yes this it is in the contract so if you change your mind, suddenly they ain't so friendly no more. You are out of luck. Every other dealership I have ever dealt with has a return policy. And NO Gunter does not point this out for obvious reasons. So, I am just saying that, that is their policy I am sure most people will love to find this out. Here is the other great thing about Gunter. Their interest rates are the same even if the term period is shorter. All other finance companies will give you a lower interest rate for a shorter term (that is how long it will take to pay for the car) for those who may not know. Come to find out that they also assign your contract (basically sell it to another lender) and yet they may keep part of keep part of the intertest collected. How convenient. And yes that is right on the contract. I will continue to look into the business policies of these great people and keep you posted.

Problem #2: called on Monday morning to be informed that they could not even look at until Wednesday; would call me back then. One might think a stranded motorist would get some priority, but no. No call by mid-afternoon Wednesday. I called to be told that they were just getting to it. Nearing closing time and no call, so I called again. Diagnosis was no fuel to engine from pump in the tank. Replacement of pump would cost over $800, which seemed extremely high for a bolt-on part. I asked for the cost break down and was informed the pump cost was $464. Problem #3, that price is extremely high. I found a genuine Bosch OEM replacement part on Amazon for $174. I called an offered to have the part drop-shipped. They admitted that they are allowed to install customer parts but refused to accept my Amazon part shipment, with concerns about getting the wrong part. I told them I would accept full responsibility for all labor if I sent the wrong part, but they would not give in. They use O'Reiley parts all the time and the O'Reiley counter price for the part is $274. But they would only give me their "Matrix" price for the O'Reiley part which turns out to be about the same as the Nissan part. They knew they had me over a barrel. They gave me a $50 coupon discount on the job, but I still got screwed out of $240. An to add insult to injury, of four promises to call me by a specific time they never called; I had to call back each time.
