Rick was the DJ for my wedding ceremony and reception, and it was truly fantastic! He asked me and my bride for some of the key music pieces (walk in, walk out, first dance, father-daughter dance, etc.) and a couple of other miscellaneous songs that we would like to be played, and then he filled in the gaps with what he felt matched our taste. I reached out to Rick among other DJs after doing days/weeks of yelping/googling and was more than impressed with Rick right off the bat. His response email was detailed, to the point, didn't feel canned and he was basically the only one who wasn't trying to up-sell me or push extras or things I didn't ask for in my initial request. Moving forward, Rick was always quick to respond to my email questions - usually in less than 24 hours, which was super helpful. We decided to move forward with Rick and things only became more professional from there. He laid out in detail the breakdown of the cost, timeframe as well as provided a great worksheet (google docs) that we used together (DJ & wedding couple) to lay out important songs like 1st dance, father/daughter - mother/son dance, etc. and whatever songs we specifically wanted (or didn't want) played as well as coordinate the timeframe between vendors. We ended up using it from day 1 up until a few days before the wedding. He was super organized and that really took a lot of stress off of my shoulders. In addition to hiring him to DJ our wedding, we also used him for our photo booth as well. The photo booth was a HUGE hit, all of my family and friends (from the oldest to the youngest) were in there throughout the night. They provide a copy of each photo strip to the bride & groom in addition to each person in the picture so we had a ton of fun looking at them the days following the wedding. I received a quote promptly after contacting him with the event needs. It was detailed yet straight-forward and included thorough explanations and additional questions to help navigate through the more technical details of our lengthy program. He was adaptive and flexible, as well as familiar and knowledgeable about the venue and eager to understand every aspect of the event, and even the seemingly irrelevant information was never too minor for him to know, which demonstrated his ability to envision the whole program and be proactive in finding a solution for any potential interruption to the flow of the event, which is NOT the norm that I have experienced in my years of working with a variety of DJ's. He absolutely goes above and beyond. I arrived 3 hours prior to the event to find everything already set up which gave us plenty of time to run through the program and discuss any last minute changes which gave me the confidence and assurance that every event planner needs a few hours prior to the start of the event. I was so pleased with how seamless everything flowed and I heard nothing but positive comments from the Gala committee and attendees about the music selection (that fit perfectly for the crowd in attendance) and the lighting, the photo booth, etc.! We got married in Mendocino CA on 9/14/2013 and Rick did an amazing job! The music was such an important part of the night to us and I put a lot of thought into a playlist and talked with Rick about exactly what I was looking for, music that reached all generations at the wedding: us, our parents, and our grandparents. We just had our wedding last week and Rick NAILED IT! When we first discussed the type of music he would play, I was a little skeptical because he told us to give him a couple of songs as a "flavor" for the wedding and to trust him to take care of the rest. Obviously we wanted a little more control, but we decided that since we were so focused on a number of other details, that letting the DJ control the music wouldn't be the worst idea. Our wedding was tough because we're a mixed race couple (me being Caucasian and my wife Vietnamese). This makes it so that our families like very different styles of music. He then explained what he had to offer and asked if that sounded like something I could work with. He gave me a quote right then and there as to what he would normally charge for the services requested. After that phone call I kept looking around but didn't find anything that compared to what Rick had talked to me about. I gave him a call back about 3 months later, and to my surprise he remembered my name. Not only that, but he remembered what we had talked about over the phone 3 months ago.
