just one example of what to expect on your freshly resoled shoes

i almost never leave yelp reviews, but im putting this out there so other people don't repeat my mistakes. a couple friends and i had ~10 pairs of shoes to resole; the usual spots were fully booked up so we looked around to see what alternatives were out there. we saw that pro deal resoles had a quicker turnaround (score!), cheaper prices (double score!), and offered a pretty wide selection of rubber. we were mostly resoling old shoes and gym beaters, so it was a "eh why not" kind of decision. let me tell you why not. 1) communication. it really is as bad as previous reviews have said. i'm not sure who's getting benet to reply to emails but it certainly wasn't me. standard things like "we got your shoes" or "here's when we think it'll be ready" were never communicated. 2) related to #1, timing. we originally went to pro deal resoles for the advertised quick turnaround. however, not only did the other resolers end up getting the work done quicker, they were more transparent about the status of the work. the shoes we sent to pro deal resoles felt like they entered a black hole and most of us ended up replacing those shoes since we had no idea when (or if) the resole would be done. 3) quality. i can honestly live with #1/2, but this is the real deal breaker here. i had read reviews of people's shoes delaminating, but once again, why not, right? when i received my box of 10 shoes back about 3 months later, i found that 3/10 shoes already had toe rubber that was peeling off the shoe. since returning shoes to my friends, most have reported that their shoes have also started peeling after light climbing. as for my personal experience, i took a fresh spankin pair of tn pros for a couple days of multipitch, and by day 4 both shoes were showing severe signs of peeling. 4) honesty. when i received the shoes and saw the 3 pairs with peeling rubber, i sent an email to benet asking for a partial refund (or maybe even just an explanation?). it's been 2 months and i'm still getting ghosted. overall, we wasted about 3 months and $400, and we have 10 pairs of shoes that STILL need resoling. lesson learned, stick with the reputable resolers

Benet has resoled several pairs of climbing shoes for me- his work is great and he stands by his product. Great communication, and was very helpful getting my Tc's dialed in. Thanks again!

Here's a before and after shot of a pair of my La Sportiva Venom's that had a lot of damage to the rand and sole.

I really have to honestly say that I don't understand what the other reviewers are talking about at all! Maybe things have changed over the past few years for the better. I contacted Pro Deal Resoles (PDR) in early 2013 about getting a couple of pairs of shoes resoled. I had some that were severely damaged, and others that weren't too bad. The owner, Bennet, was very fast to respond to me with price quotes for each pair. I'll add that a couple of my pairs, most resole shops wouldn't touch as they said the rand was too damaged. I filled out the forms and sent my shoes off via USPS express to PDR. USPS is kinda slow, but they eventually got there at the end of the week. It took PDR 5 business days to resole and repair all of the shoes I sent in and then they were shipped back to me and I received them early the following week. During the whole process Bennet was extremely responsive and answered all of my emails within a few hours. So from a customer service and speed standpoint I give this company a huge 5 star rating! So how about the actual work? I am extremely impressed with the work and resole job! They look great and all of the damage on every pair of shoes I sent in was completely fixed! I would even go so far as to say that on one of my newer La Sportiva pairs, the point where the sole connects with the rand looks better after the PDR resole job than the original manufactured sole. On top of all of that, PDR offered a variety of different rubber types that matched all of the shoes I sent in. I decided to go with "inexpensive" on the pricing for this review, because while rock climbing shoe resoles are not exactly inexpensive, PDR has easily the most competitive prices of any resole company, with a resole coming in at only $25 and a full repair for any damage to a pair at $39 (I had a few of these haha). So in conclusion, as of 2013, I would say this is definitely one of the better rock climbing shoe resole places you can use. I highly recommend them for the great service, really good quality resoles, and a fast turnaround. I'm not sure what happened a few years ago, but whatever problems the other reviewers experience are clearly gone now!

They are rather limited on their Heritage line, but I think most Redwing stores don't carry the full Heritage line. When they fit you for shoes, they do a thorough fitting, so you end up with exactly your shoe size. If they do not carry a shoe you desire, they will go the extra mile to order it from their warehouse. Also, they will offer to wax/treat your new pair of Redwing shoes for free! A very clean, spacious, well lit, and inviting store: a welcoming environment with very high quality products!

Kohls, what is happening?! I've been shopping at Kohl's for years and I just walked out, uncertain…read moreI'll ever walk back in. I pulled up at 8 pm. One hour before the store closed. When I walked in, the cashier was sitting on the counter of the cash wrap in jeans and a baggy, wrinkled t-shirt, kicking her legs like she was at the park. Great first impression! I needed a new outfit for a job interview. Found a few outfits I wanted to try, all potentially to take home. I went to try them on and found the fitting rooms closed (the COVID flashback was intense!). I asked the very casual cashier why (I promise, I was polite) and she told me they now close the fitting rooms two hours before store close. I told her that they were losing my business because I don't buy clothes when I can't try them on. She shrugged, said okay and told me to have a nice night, it was clear it didn't matter to her that I was walking away from spending money there (how much are you paying her? It's too much). Call me crazy but wouldn't a clothing store want the fitting rooms open so people will, you know, buy clothes? I get it, times are rough for retail. Kohl's is apparently addressing the problem by hiring staff that don't care about hard times and instituting policies designed to turn customers away. Interesting approach but the empty parking lot tells me it isn't working. Tired of stores forgetting that satisfied customers are key to profits and instead giving the bare minimum to get the store from open to close each day (seriously, I'm not asking for special privilege, I just want to make sure the pants fit over my hips and don't sag. Good luck Kohl's, I'm going elsewhere. If I can't try clothes on I may as well order them online for half the cost, the desire to make sure clothes fit being one of the last reasons I still shop brick and mortar stores. It's sad because Kohl's has always been a favorite and now I have to drive to the next city to shop for decent clothing and even more important, decent service.
