Aspen did a large job on our property in July 2021, and they were excellent in every respect…read more They came out promptly to give us a quote. Their quote was totally reasonable for a full day job that involved cutting down and removing 7 large trees and 2 small ones (with stump grinding for 4 that were between the sidewalk and street, thus preventing a tripping hazard near the sidewalk) in addition to pruning several large Japanese Sawara trees, one very large Magnolia and two large spruce/pines. The crew and foreman were skilled and friendly, professional and polite. When they were done, they made sure to clean up completely. So: A+ for the tree work itself. The front office was also excellent. They promptly emailed me a professional contract (meaning: itemized and complete), and they responded immediately to my request for their Proof of Insurance documentation. I mention these Front Office things because not every tree company does them, even if they may do good tree work, and it's nice to have everything totally clear and written down. Prevents hassles and disagreements afterward. At the signing of the contract, Aspen gave me an accurate wait time based on how busy they were. Five stars for Aspen Tree Expert Co. We used Happy Tree on and off for over 20 years. The work was always good until the past year or…read moreso. They cut my neighbors White Pine down and in the process lowering it hit the Maple Tree which crashed into the slate roof. This May the owner came out to survey the work we needed done. A few branches here and there but the main issue was a dead maple. I just wanted the top cut off, leaving the trunk for wildlife. "No problem be back in two weeks". When his crew returned the could not cut the top of the dead tree as there wasn't access with their truck. The owner assumed they could reach it from behind the property. Disappointing, but understandable. Than when asked the price it was only 20% less and in cash! Always paid by check. Regardless 80%+ was the tree they could not do the work for. We meet in the middle. Less than two weeks later his crew was back on my street. One of his guys pulled out a chainsaw and cut all the lower branches of the Oak in front of my house so he could park and hug the curb comfortably! What the hell! I thought maybe he had a contract for the town at first, but he said no its a town tree and branches were to low. It was only so he could park! He is supposed to care for trees. Two weeks ago when we were hit by severe thunderstorms over the 4th weekend and had a large branch dangling over the roof I still called Happy right away. Never heard back. Never. Not even days later. This is not the way to do business. Not professional at all. Like I said, it never used to be like this. Good news we found an excellent new arborist who we like and most of all is honest. When I needed to find a new arborist, there were plenty. Beware of Happy Tree Service! In one instance the work was done in the early spring when the soil was soggy. They used metal plates for the equipment to ensure no tracks left behind in the soil. Another crew I hired left big machine tire tracks in my grass so I'm sensitive to this issue. Vasquez gave me the best price versus others who gave me estimates. His crew takes on the most challenging jobs that others would not do ( as they either passed or charged a price they knew I would turn down). His team will tree climb if the job requires it.
