They are quick with the work but their customer service is horrible. We made a small adjustment the scope of work prior to signing off. My husband had an agreement about the change but on the day of service, they did not do the added work and when my husband called. He was told it would be $400, which happens to be the base charge for them to come out to you house. The additional work was extremely insignificant ( 7 foot tree that was maybe 2 inches around we didn't even ask the to root grind the area. They were cutting my neighbor's tree and the tree fell on some wires which were attached to my house. The line ripped off and damaged my siding. The wire was just laying on my deck/backyard. Called them about the tripping hazard and about the damage to my house and they said they would send someone out. A few days later someone went to my backyard and snipped the line (turns out to be a cable line). I work from home and did not have internet for a few days because of them.They however denied that it was them. Might have been in retaliation because I called multiple times regarding the matter. 6 months later and my siding is still damaged. Horrible company with zero accountability. read more

I tried twice. First time was to get some trees removed. I tried to email follow up questions for the quote and got no answer. No biggie. Then i had a tree down from a storm blocking my driveway and they offer 24/7 service. It was a Sunday. We got one from ProTree and I called them right away b/c my wife had been wanting us to remove two decaying trees in the front yard, one that was bumping the house and making the lawn all mildewey and stuff. ProTree was great - they sent a guy out to make a quote for me while I was at work, the price was reasonable, I booked them and about a week or two later they came out and in less than 3 hours the whole lawn and house was transformed b/c two sadly decaying trees were removed and given new life as mulch. If I could give this company a mega-minus star rating I would. This company should be called "Antitree." They are a disgrace to their profession. I asked them to "trim and shape" a beautiful, healthy old apple tree in my front yard. I had had it carefully pruned many times in the past. When I saw how they butchered this tree beyond repair, I could not believe my eyes. They cut down its size by 70% and amputated ALL it's fruit bearing limbs! Since the limbs are gone, it will never recover. I never discussed removing lower limbs with their representative, who claimed he was an "arborist" but I learned later, had no certifications and no formal training. Their unskilled, unsupervised workers used an electric saw to remove every branch in sight in a matter of minutes. No tree should be treated like this. This tree that yielded 250 tasty apples last year; grew zero apples this year. I am heartbroken. Never allow this company near your treasured trees. read more

Pro-Tree did a great job removing three enormous poplars from our property and trimming the others. It was a sad occasion for us, as we love our trees, but two were definitely a hazard and one was in the way. So we were not looking forward to having this job done. We have a difficult driveway and yard, and Pro-Tree did a good job navigating it all. Their price was very competitive, and they were professional and prompt. I especially appreciate their responsiveness. We've called several tree companies prior and didn't even receive a return phone call. I hired Protree to clean up 2 trees, and remove the dead limbs. In fact, I started with the conversation, that I have a tree over my patio, that provides a natural canopy over the entire patio, and blocks the sun until 7 pm at night in the summers and it provided privacy. I was clear I had 2 dead branches (one at the top, and one over my neighbors property and they could go and remove it from my neighbors side). I came home to find that they totally took down every branch over my patio - they left nothing that will cover my patio. They caused a hardship for me, because now I have to plant another tree and wait years for it perform the same function. The original tree is useless to us - no privacy and no shade. They offered to take $100 off the original $700. I wrote them a note that I will not pay for a service, when they destroyed my tree. They keep billing me. read more

A Protree crew was working in our neighborhood trimming trees and chipping them. Then workers were not wearing basic protective gear : safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, ear protection. The worker loading the tree branches into the chipper was doing so with his bare hands, no safety glasses, no hearing protection. read more

Our front lawn was a mess because of the surface roots emanating from three old large trees. In addition, the trees themselves were showing signs that they were struggling with disease. They were no longer looking nice. We made the decision to remove the three trees and grind the roots to oblivion. Protree gave me a very fair and competitive price quote, and they did an excellent job. They removed the three trees, ground the roots down far enough to support a new lawn, removed a small decorative retaining wall, and regraded the disturbed area. They reseeded the disturbed area. They threw the grass seed down by hand and it was not uniformly spread. They previously warned me that they were not landscapers by trade. Because of this, I was prepared and put down additional seed using a spreader. They protected the disturbed area to prevent erosion of the "soft" lawn. The lawn has hardened up and the seed has germinated. The new lawn is established. I give Protree 5 stars - 5 out of 5. They had all the necessary equipment, and all of their employees were great. Received a mailer for this company and emailed them for a quote. They called and made an appointment. They evidently showed and then I waited. I received an email 2 weeks later asking how things were and if I was ready to schedule. I said I didn't receive a quote. They said they would send it again. I have several large trees on my property. A couple of them have grown a little leggy. I contacted Pro Tree Services and asked for a quote. They quoted me a competitive price. When they arrived to do the work I asked the crew foreman to carefully trim a maple tree so an arch it made with an adjacent tree could be preserved. He trimmed the tree as I requested. Overall the crew did a nice job trimming the two large trees. They did an excellent job of cleaning the property when they finished. read more

Avoid ProTree Services out of Aston, PA (Owner: Jim Piazza) at all cost. We are members/homeowners in a homeowners association where our private property is deeded fee-simple to us A small strip of association property adjoins our property at the entrance to our village. Very large trees were removed from the association property adjoining ours and ProTree proceeded with their reckless, unsupervised project with no regard to property boundaries as I watched in horror. With the wildly swinging, uncontrolled removal of huge, heavy trunk sections, ProTree did massive, irreparable damage to three or four of our mature trees thus destroying our privacy, energy-efficient shade and wind shield, natural beauty and property value. These same huge trunk sections were also permitted to freefall from high up onto our trees thus crushing and snapping many large branches on our trees and gouging up our mulched garden areas. The freefall of these weighty tree sections may have even caused three large holes in our paved community entrance roadway. If not the trees, the holes were the result of the truck's extension pods used to stabilize the hydraulic lift truck with the basket attachment. Other companies always place protective pads under their equipment to prevent this type to pavement damage, The workmen even trespassed onto our property to totally saw off badly damaged limbs from our trees due to their carelessness. When the business owner was called on the phone (after I called the police), he was clueless as to the property boundary lines and refused to provide any of his liability insurance information. The BBB knows nothing about this company and the PA Attorney General's office apparently has no registered contractor listing for ProTree either. They claim to be licensed, but I have been totally unable to verify that claim. The PA AG's office is currently investigating the parent company's licensing structure for possible violations. Thanks to the assistance of the PA AG's office, I was eventually able to obtain the Certificate of Liability Insurance for the parent company and have filed an insurance claim against them. Neither the company, our HOA nor the management company for our HOA would provide the necessary insurance information, which is required to be on file before work begins for ProTree, voluntarily, upon request. If you want to hire, in my opinion, an unskilled tree butcher who might leave you up the creek and with major damages and headaches when the job is done, go for ProTree Services in Aston, PA. Otherwise, save yourself major problems and choose an experienced, knowledgeable arborist who is certifiably licensed, registered and insured. Reply Forward read more
