This should have been an easy project but unfortunately we hired the wrong company. The salesman was the nephew of the owner and made a lot of promises he did not keep. We have a wood outside staircase that needed to be repaired and painted. We were told it would take a few days to a week max. That is not what happened, the project was delayed the first week and then it just kept getting worse. Workers were sent without a supervisor and they made mistake after mistake. I had to contact the salesman several times. The new paint kept peeling off the wood, the wood was not cut straight. I have finally given up and will paint it myself. To make things worse, we were told that we could finance it for 18 months with no interest. What was not shared is that we had to make monthly payments for 18 months so we were charged a 27% interest fee on top of this overprices repair. read more

On April 20, 2026 I answered cold call from Larry Wise, Pro Handyman Services, an apparent representative of Productive Home Renovation (Lic. # 1076623) asking if I needed work done on my home. As I actually had two tasks that needed completion I agreed to meet with their representatives that afternoon. The two tasks were 1. Replacement of caulking at pool coping, and 2. Clean out of the rear yard rain drain system. When Ethan (the primary representative) and Johnathan, from Productive Contracting, came they looked at both tasks, but chose only to bid on the second one. It was explained to me that they normally had a several thousand dollar minimum fee, but that to provide fill in work while inspections occurred at other jobs they could clean my rain drain system, restore it to operation, and test it on the following day. They expected that it could take up to two days of work for multiple people. Their estimate and fee was for $1800. I accepted that estimate and signed contractual papers, including wavers of senior citizen review periods for the task. The next day came and the personnel did not show up at the time expected, but several hours later. A plumber and his assistant arrived, I showed them the system. My wife and I left to take care of some shopping that was needed. When I returned about 3 hours later the assistant, who was the only one I saw doing any work, approached me to tell me they were finished. I then, with him, took a garden hose to several key drains to determine if the water entering the system was being discharged to the street. It was, so I offered the final payment, but was told that Johnathan would come by later in the day to collect it. As I considered the experience I found that I was disappointed with the effort and the fees I was charged. If this was really a 3 hour task, I should not be paying for a 2 day job. But, I fulfilled my contract and made the payment when Johnathan arrived late in the day. After the weekend I sent an email to the firm stating my unhappiness with how I was charged. I received a responding email saying that they would look into the matter and talk to Ethan. After sending another email I had a call from Ethan defending their charges after I my dissatisfaction with the price and the way the job was handled. After posting this review, at a much lower rating, received calls from the office team asking to discuss the review and offering some compensation. I will accept that compensation. I can not give this company a strongly positive recommendation. They may well be fine for large jobs where they are asking well above their minimum. Get other offers and be careful of their pricing. read more

So, if you are looking for cheap... Don't look here. They are not cheap. If you are looking for quality, professionalism, quality guarantees, no change orders, no hassles... No need to look anywhere else. We were going to have our house painted, several hundred feet of wood replaced, and an enclosed patio re-floored. Guy Buchsweler was our PHR contractor. On estimate day, he showed up on time and spent several hours surveying every inch of the house exterior, taking measurements and photos of any potential problems. I then got a very detailed estimate of what needed to be done and the related costs. We eventually signed a contract and the job, despite involving multiple disciplines (e.g., roofing, tiling, carpentry, etc) as well as an unexpected hazmat situation (mold/asbestos in the attic) was completed on schedule without a single change order. Not to mention a great job by all in minimizing dust/dirt/mess with a complete clean-up every day. Guy coordinated all of the work, provide us advance notification of every job task and inspected each task as it was done. It was seamless service. I never waited more than 5 minutes for a return phone call or message. So again, if you're looking for bargain basement - this isn't your contractor. However, if you are looking for high-quality service, as promised, and ultimate coordination, this is a great firm. I'm ecstatic that I decided to go with them.
