When searching online for local martial arts, we came across Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. They offered a deal for prospective students and we decided to try it out. Our son is 6 and the very first class, he got taken down by another student and was pretty upset. The Instructor was awesome with him, helped show him how the moves were, let him try it again. I thought for sure my son was not going want to do it again after crying and being upset on that first experience. But the instructor handled it so well, he wanted to try another couple of classes. We had two more classes on our into deal, and by the end of those my son was hooked. Love this placed love the patience the instructors have. On some days there are tons of kids here and it would be daunting to try keep that many young kids focused. But they do a great job. My son has been willing to try new healthy foods because the instructor talks to the kids about healthy habits and build strong healthy bodies. It's been great so far for us. Definitely recommend!

The park is named after Ross Pendergraft, a prominent resident who was the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Donrey Media Group, a national media company. There is not much to this park. It is relatively small and features a Bass Reeves statue titled, Into the Territory. You will also find a covered stage/pavilion (which serves as a unhoused person camp) and some benches that are positioned along the parks paved walkways. There is a patch of green space, but nothing large enough for playing field sports. The park's primary purpose is relaxation, picnics and small to medium special events. The park is well maintained and has a capacity of about 500. It should be noted that the park does not have any restrooms or water fountains, so, plan accordingly. This park has a decent sized green space and is the site of many special events inclusding the city's Fall Festival, the Fort Smith Lambda Society Pride event and group exercise classes including their popular Zumba class. An interesting fact about the park is that a time capsule is located there, behind the Bass Reeves statue, and is to be unearthed in 2118, 100 years after being buried.
