I say wait I'm using my old plate. Notary says too late, you're supposed to say first thing that you are using your old plate. Exact words to me..."it's all on you now." She did not ask me at the beginning of the transaction if I was using my old plate, I guess everyone else but me is just born knowing that. Another customer there at the time said that they were asked that first. They were lucky, I'm out $40.
