I've never been in here, but man this place has everything!! It was a bit overwhelming at first, but they have staff walking around and asked if they could help, and quickly pointed me to the area I was looking for. Not only did they point me in that direction but they showed me some popular items of things I probably would have overlooked. They have a great mix of toys, books, crafts, stuffies, educational, etc for all ages. They definitely carry unique items as compared to some basic toys like you'd find at Target or Walmart. It's like a miniature version of Toys R Us (for those of us who were around for that!). Things may be on the pricier side, but to find everything you need gift wise in one spot, may be worth it! Or what fun (maybe overwhelming fun) would it be for a kiddo to get a gift card to a place like this! Caution on that, because I truly don't know if I'd bring my 3.5 year old in here. What a great toy store for Fresno. With Toys R Us and (dating myself) Arthur's long gone it's hard to find a good toy store. Located in an upscale strip mall at Nees and Blackstone this one managed to have a very good selection of quality toys. Walking through real quick I did notice plenty of trucks, games and educational toys. My time was limited here so I had to focus on my mission... Lego! They had a dedicated back room with sets stacked to the ceiling. Most of the main series were available (I did not see architecture or the excessively big sets). Some seemed a few dollars overpriced while others matched MSRP. The staff was friendly and wanting to help. Being a local business I was happy to pay the extra $3-5 versus dealing with the big box stores. I was happy with my purchase and would recommend to others. read more

I had a few hours to kill and wandered into this store but I'd been eyeing it for the longest time. I'm so glad I was able to! Just walking in and my imagination was sparked. I was warmly greeted right away and the clerk offered his help if I needed it. They have every toy you can think of, it seems. I felt like a kid again. I tried my hardest to not spend too much but I know I'll be back time and time again. I easily spent over an hour browsing and shopping. Everyone I encountered was kind and helpful. They had great attitudes! While I was there a little boy came in wearing a birthday crown and he was so excited to pick a toy. Of course! What an awesome place to take a kid for a special occasion. I also saw a woman who was upset about her recent purchase. The cashier was patient with her even though she seemed to be annoyed. He offered her an exchange and she was okay after that. I was just overall impressed. Ample parking in a shared shopping center lot. Plenty of other stores to also visit while in the area. Nearby restaurants to grab lunch. read more

Fresno has very few dedicated toy stores. Professor Toy is a good store to find various things for children of all ages. Being a small store in a high-end shopping center, the selection is not as diverse or extensive as toy stores in large cities. There are many duplications of similar items in the store rather than a wide variety of items. Prices can be high. The selection of educational toys is good and there are opportunities for the children to actually try out the toy, to play with it. That is the best part. Service can be indifferent. The store is tucked away in the southwest corner of the Vilagio Center. There is plenty of parking. read more

My daughter LOVES this store. It is so sweet and looks exactly like what a toy store is supposed to look like for kids. When you walk in, there is immediately a little corner where you can play with those adorable calico critters. Then as you walk through the aisles, there are sections for books, cat and the hat, shopkins, kitchen/house toys. They even have a section for babies and toddlers. The prices are decent. They're not bargain toys, but the prices are definitely not outrageous. Just decently priced. However, this is not a place that you can just stop in real quick to grab a toy. Anticipate at least a half hour to let your kiddo roam around and soak up all of the fun and explore all of the little toys and areas of the store! read more

nice toy shop! this is a great place to get thinker type toys for children to actually engage in imaginary play. they have play dolls here that they don't carry at target, walmart etc, such as the "lorens" dolls handmade in spain. they have a great selection of corolle dolls & other one off doll brands. we were looking specifically for something minnie mouse as a present to our little niece who loves minnie mouse but they only had a tiny selection of disney things, so we picked out something different. the lady who helped us at the register was so helpful. she told us about a 25% coupon in their catalogue i had no idea about, and she pulled out the catalogue & applied the discount towards our purchase! that was a nice surprise as it saved us $10.00!! there's a huge selection of calico critters, which was wonderful; unique puzzles you don't see often..& so much more. if you're looking for thinker type toys, professor toy is highly recommended. i'm sure you'll find something here for kids of all ages 0-102. one recommendation for this shop would be to control their climate better. it's way too stuffy for such a crowded space & with kids all around & sniffles being prevalent esp during fall/winter months, germs spread faster when the environment is sticky & humid. that's why i took off 1 star. read more

The Antidote To Target I don't know why I've taken so long to say something nice about this store, considering all the compliments I've had in recent years on the things I've bought there. It reminds me of the good little toy boutiques we had in the San Francisco of my boyhood. Thousands of items from $2 to $200. Something for everyone from infant to frolicsome adulthood. Remote controlled shark blimp to delight a four year-old. $5 science trick to fascinate a 12 year-old Knowledge Nerd. My son forced me to go to this store after seeing a multitude of commercials on TV for Easter. I've purchased here about 3-4 times since I've discovered this little gem of a shop. But it's never been a regular place I visit not because anything is wrong I just usually get toys at target or online. But today was different I had to return a toy I bought as a gift for a very disappointing reason. I purchased a stuffed toy for my autistic son's friend. I had to return it because she started bullying my son. I went in and they told me they don't accept returns on plush toys. But after hearing my reason why I was returning it the nice lady at the counter asked her manager and she said yes. My son choose a toy in its place and it really made his day. Being autistic he really doesn't have any friends and to lose one over such a sad choice she made he was really sad. I totally appreciate the level of understanding and care that the employees showed on behalf of my son. It goes to show that people like them make the business and it shows me that it isn't just about the money. They just made a customer for life and I will be recommending them to all my friends and family. Thank you ladies you made a little boys day! I'm very great full! Great job ladies! read more

The experience of going to a toy store with one's child should be a pleasant one. Not here. Toys are not all there is to a toy store. Yes, they have a nice selection, but so does Amazon. The experience of actually going there is unpleasant due to a combination of child-inappropriate adult music playing, unfriendly, unhelpful and morose employees, unskilled, super-slow gift-wrapping, and general crowdedness (don't even think of going in with a stroller). Overall, the place gives off bad vibes that don't even come close to competing with the more neutral atmosphere of Barnes and Noble just down the corridor, and which, incidentally, offers a nice discount to all teachers. I've given Professor Toy enough chances, but I'm done. read more

Professor Toy is the place to be. If you have young children, bring them in! They'll love it. My kids ask to go every time we are in Fresno. I genuinely love the staff, who are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their products. They also seem genuinely happy to see us every time we are there. I love that it seems a bit of a more elite type of toy store without feeling stuffy. The shelves are lined with quality toys with competitive prices. Sometimes things may be a few dollars more, but I don't mind paying that to a local shop with great customer service. Even though this was an excellent toy store with a wonderful selection for my three small children, my experience at Professor Toy was beyond abhorrent. While visiting from out of town I decided to purchase surprise gifts for my children, as I often do to lessen their disappointment of my trip. As soon as I entered the store I received the coldest greeting from the young lady at the counter. She did not ask me if I needed help finding anything and I could tell very obviously my presence made her uncomfortable. I could see her repeatedly peeking at me as if I was going to rob the store while holding her cell phone. Moments later, the mall security guard Bill showed up, whom I am sure she texted to come protect her, and sat behind the counter as if he is a store employee. Another female customer arrived and everyone was cheerful and inviting all of a sudden and was glad to be of service to her. I was so hurt, enraged, and humiliated that I could no longer focus on shopping so I decided to leave. But rather than disappointment my children I approached the counter with the contents already in my basket to Bill's surprise. The young lady was no where to be found, busy helping the other customer with all her shopping needs. Even though Bill is still suspicious of me, he gestured to a young man from out of no where to ring me up. He was a very nice and courteous young man named Jay and I appreciate his strong customer service. But thanks to the young lady at the counter, I spent a lot less money at Professor Toy than I was prepared to. read more

Professor Toy is a great place to find toys for kids of any age. They have a wonderful selection. Very helpful staff. Very relaxed atmosphere when we bring our kids, nobody's pushy or uptight, and they have great deals. If you're also a teacher they have a whole back room dedicated to teaching supplies. Just opened up a puzzle at the cabin that I bought on their 50% off rows. 2 pieces missing, so irritating, 15 minutes putting a 100 piece puzzle together to find out u can't complete. from the outside, its easy to miss with that water fountain right in front. the items in this store are extremely over priced and im not impressed at all with their variety of school supplies and toys. many of the same toys and books i also found in Barnes&Noble (same shopping area) at same/ lower prices. everything else you probably can purchase online for less. the workers are not that great. twice ive gone in with my nieces and had to GO LOOK for someone to help me.. the first visit, a weekend and probably one of their busier days; an asian male employee was the most helpful. my last visit was on a weekday with less customers in. i had to look for someone again. one small girl was extremely busy ringing out a family so i walked around searching still and found everyone else in a room near the restroom just laughing and talking away. one of the most unprofessional & poor services ive experienced from a specialty toy store. wont be going back. & good luck with finding parking read more
