I would give a ZERO if it was possible. The poor reviews I read are ALL VERY ACCURATE. Progressive will charge you extremely high rate(s) and when you make a claim they turn on you. When the other driver is clearly at fault, who was on their mobile, not looking ahead and they ram into the side of your car, Progressive reply is you MUST use your collision to cover the damages. This in turn increases already sky high rates. They take your money willingly but for what? It took me continuous submission of the same photos, I had to do all the follow up & ask questions simply to find out they did nothing to support me in the claim. I would strongly suggest not to consider Progressive and that you make sure you tell everyone you know who has this coverage to change it immediately or risk having a nightmare when you need transparency. I should have known from the start when my quote lasted only 6 months and without any claim(s) of any kind, no traffic violations of any kind, no driving record of any kind my rates DOUBLED after the first 6 months. After paying my insurance premiums for many years to Progressive, I found out my coverage is worthless. On 2/12/26, Claim# 26-519416008, while driving on I-10, taking my wife to the airport, my vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was hit by a GMC truck insured by Progressive. The driver of the truck ran away. According to the investigating officer, the GMC truck was at fault in this accident. I'm a good driver, no tickets and never had an accident where I was at fault. For almost a month, I have had a nightmare dealing with Progressive to pay for my vehicle repair. On 3/10/26, almost one month after the accident, I received a letter from Hunter Wells in the claim department stating that Progressive could not find a valid coverage for the incident and they will not be able to pay for my claim. I'm a retired auto body I-CAR, ASE-certified technician. I had already started to repair my car. This vehicle has steps, a handle, and a place for a wheelchair. My wife must have this vehicle to take her disabled mother to her doctor appointments. This vehicle is very safe to repair. I replaced the front fender and door with used parts, and they fit perfectly. (see pictures) On 3/14/26, Hunter sent another letter stating the total settlement amount for my vehicle is $7,299.89. There is a catch: Progressive will salvage and keep my vehicle and sell it at the auction for a high premium. My vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was purchased new by my father-in-law. Three years ago he passed away. He made sure this car was in perfect condition the whole time he owned it. I have all the records to prove it. I have put about $5k in upgrades, including a platinum extended warranty for an additional 85,000 miles left. This vehicle has a full warranty, just like owning a new vehicle. Progressive, they know I must have this vehicle, and the only way they will pay me is if they salvage the vehicle and I surrender it to them. I researched Craigslist, Marketplace, and can't find a single similar vehicle, a Ford Explorer IronMan rare edition for sale by owner. Most of the other available vehicles come with a salvage title, are not safe to drive, and cannot be fully insured. Progressive is not transparent in their policy value. Nov 6 2025 got and internet quote for the current car information I provided. I got a surcharge $17 to correct the DOB secondly after 2 hours I received the email to make an account. insurance with them they asked for the car millage. There is no law in Florida to provide car annual millage to the insurer. Dec 22 2025 received email progressive demanding an surcharge for $395 for providing the car millage they did not accept. If I could give zero I would! They weren't great when I was in an accident I wasn't at fault at. They did not want to, and never did assign me an adjuster. I had to obtain legal counsel to help assist with them and the person responsible for the entire accident. Then all of a sudden they wanted proof af address and all kinds of things. At that point I had moved in with my partner, and had nothing in my name, except my business. They refused to take that. Fine I ate the $259 for PIP because of the lame excuses they gave me. I finally got tired of it and got proof of address, they would not accept that. I then moved, tried to do this again, to drop my rates by literally $100+ a month. I gave them everything. They then tried to say that every licensed driver in the house, has to be on my policy, even if they aren't driving my vehicle. Put them as uninsured drivers. Um. What?! First off you tried to dispute the change of address again. They refused to take my STATE DRIVERS LICENSE as valid proof and a letter from my partner, saying that I live with him. Then they jacked everything up. Made the rates go up and locked it in for my renewal. Um what, you just said that you can't use that address until I give you proof, yet you go ahead and add non insured drivers to my policy... They are insured. Have their own vehicles and ins. I then while I was talking to my out of state agent, went online and got 3 quotes all cheaper, didn't require me to add anyone else. Didnt ask for any proof. Just agreed. I told her I don't want to proceed with anything she just said. She then said well I locked it in. Your new rates start 2/14. The hell they do. TLDR: If Progressive has unfairly, illegally, immorally, unethically, and/or wrongfully blamed something on you (especially fault for accidents), email your state attorney general and submit a complaint with the Department of Financial Services Division of Consumer Services. This is the company that oversees, regulates, and holds the insurance companies liable for their mistreatment. A couple of years ago, I moved from Liberty Mutual to Progressive. Shortly after starting my plan, I had an accident that seriously injured me in life-changing ways. I was taking an on-ramp one mile away from my house, and a careless driver ran a red light, and flipped/totaled my truck. I called an attorney and told them to pull the traffic light camera footage and that they had an open-and-shut case. Fast forward, and it turns out the camera was only a live-feed camera and didn't record, so I couldn't get my proof. The responding officer officially did not assign blame to either of us because we had no witnesses or dash cam footage. Progressive KNEW this per the accident report (with my perfect record to go with it). Still, Progressive illegally, immorally, and advantageously gave me fault for this accident that had no definitive proof of whose fault it was. My attorney called Tom Costello (the supervisor of the department that assigned fault) and the employee that claimed me at-fault; he got nowhere and eventually (in an annoyed tone) was told that I was being given fault and that was their final ruling. So, I emailed the state attorney general about it, who forwarded my complaint to the 'Department of Financial Services Division of Consumer Services.' They emailed Progressive and requested the documentation for review. Progressive didn't even argue with them; their letter in response explained how they upheld their decision several times when I or my attorney came to them, but now that DFSDCS was investigating, they stated that (word-for-word) "they have taken another look at the claim file and have amended their decision and found you not at fault." I caught them red-handed, trying to take advantage of my devastating situation and get out of fully honoring their part. That 'at-fault' status made insurance unaffordable, and after my physical therapy, I lost months of my life due to it - which clearly was worth it as far as they're concerned. Beware. read more

I called to file a windshield replacement claim and spoke with Annette Shy (Office: 440-566-1799). While initially friendly, her line of questioning quickly became irrelevant and excessive. She asked about the date the rock hit the windshield, where I get oil changes, and numerous other details unrelated to the repair. When I finally asked if she would approve the replacement, she began requesting receipts and documents that were not relevant to the windshield repair. Due to the frustrating process and excessive requests, I ended the call and paid for the replacement out of pocket. Dishonest! After my son was hit by another car who initially ran, he initiated a claim through our insurance just to be safe. A few days later my new billing schedule for the next 6 month term arrives raising my rates by about 20%. I look at my coverage and they had doubled my liability coverage. After finding new insurance I called to cancel and the lady I talked to tried to tell me that was the minimum in AZ (it's not). Luckily the police found the other driver and his insurance covered the damage. Yesterday I received another letter from Progressive saying they were denying the claim (which wasn't going to be continued) because they had evidence that my son was using his 2002 Tacoma Extra Cab for rideshare. My card was stolen, so I had to cancel my card. In that window where I canceled, my auto insurance was due on October 1st. I got my new card and paid it on October 3rd. My husband wrecked on October 3rd. When the police arrived, his insurance was showing on the app, so he did not get ticketed. We filed the claim the day the wreck happened but because the payment did not process till the next day, it did not count. Complete BS!!! I bought my son a policy to do rideshare. I paid six months upfront for $1540. He signed up for paperless. They made him give everyone in the household me and my wife and two other sons. A month after starting the policy, he gets a paper saying he has to sign to verify nobody else is driving the car. To this day they still say they haven't received it but he got a bill for $2800 in the mail saying that since they didn't receive it, all four other drivers are drivers now. The most fun part is is that they do not cover a ride chair except while you're waiting for a assignment. They not cover going to pick up the food or person. They do not cover taking them to the destination. They lied to us and got the sale and now I can't get a refund back because they say we owe $2800 prorated for the Lil over a month he used it so now I'm $1540 -179 refund they said I would get for a little over a month use. For 2 car full coverage they say also if u download snapshot that will get your bill lowered in the next six month I ask them how much is my discount for snapshot they say $11 The first month they increase my bill from 125 to 247 I call they say because ur snapshot not active. They did that to me every month. I have my snapshot activated and is recording my trips just fun even tho is record things that did not even happen. However for $11 discount they increase my bill to $247 I was like but even if I don't have my snapshot activated u should only add $11 in my bill not $122. They never wanted to give answer. Then I find out I was not even have full coverage and even their full coverage doesn't cover Accident. They say it's only to help you drive legally on the road. It's so disgusting. Ganelle Frazier is the rudest, disrespectful, incompetent insurance adjuster I have dealt with. She constantly talks over you and her whole investigation lasted abut 1 hour. I was looking for home and auto insurance and since I had a previous policy with Progressive, I thought I would try to get a policy with them. However, that was apparently not possible. I have, to date, received 3 letters declining me, each is identical to the other. It stated that TransUnion reporting gave me a low rating. So I contacted TransUnion- and they had NEVER received any request from Progressive. The letter stated I had between 10 and 19 revolving accounts, yet I only have 4; it stated I had too many loans, however, I have no loans, not even a mortagage! It stated I recently opened 48+ bank accounts, again, not true. After receiving the letter I thought there may be fraud on my account, but there was not (whew!!!). The issue is that I have my credit frozen with the credit agencies due to previous data breatches with companies I did business with- and THAT is why I got the letter. Progressive NEVER received anything from TransUnion- so they sent me a generic letter stating my credit was bad. To be fair, the letter looked strange to me, so I contacted Progressive, and the agents I spoke to stated that I was not a viable customer for Progressive... yet, up to today, I had been a customer!! Ironic! Rather than just requesting that I unfreeze my credit, they declined me by sending me 3 identical letters! So they lost a customer, for life!! I do not plan to ever be a customer with this company again. I have chosen a different insurance company that actually has much better rates- so I am happier now, and my Progressive policy is cancelled effective in 3 days (had to wait for final paperwork). TURN OFF AUTOPAY!! They will add drivers to your policy without consent. I have been with them for 15 years and because my son who recently got his driver's license, was added to my policy and I was charged $288 a month. Since I was did automatic payments this was taken out from my bank account. My son has his own vehicle and insurance. When I called them they said they can do this with people that have the same address. They claim they sent out mail informing me of the changes. Since I didn't respond it was considered a form of my agreement. Exact words from the lady I was on the phone with. Even though you do not physically add them to your policy. You will have to show them documents of that other person having insurance to get them off your policy. No money will be refunded as they claim its your fault because they sent letters claiming of the new charges and if you don't respond its automatically added. My mother (20+ years as a customer) has recently been up charged an extra 200+ a month because a tenant has recently moved in her house. My mother never grant them permission. She tried to remove her but they stated that they will not remove her until she has a policy with them or proof of residence at another location. This is absolutely insane that this company can do this to consumers. They give you a quote based on your existing auto policy, promises you a bundle discount, you pick them cause at the time it is cheaper than other competitors, processed the declaration, sends it to the mortgage company, they get paid in full, then all of a sudden, a month into the policy, they send you a notification that you have been misquoted and your home insurance police has increased. Now I owe $260 more than what I was originally quoted and will send the bill to the mortgage company. I contacted progressive, and all they can say was, they could not determine at the time what my actual auto coverage was, so the quote I was given was a mistake, and it is what it is and nothing they can do. Had I was given the correct quote, which they had a full month before the coverage to started to notify me, I would have used a different company who is $200 cheaper/year now with this increase. I only went with progressive cause i thought I was saving on a bundle with my auto insurance, but this is HIGHWAY ROBBERY at its finest. I had two cars insured with Progressive. 89 Celica salvage title, and 06 Jetta. $151 per month. I sold the Jetta new price was $107.85 for just the Celica. ??? Then 3 hours later the price is $122.43 for the Celica. I got another insurance $35 for the Celica. They wanted $75 for me to cancel the account. Then $50, now $58.47. Just a rip off! I even got renter insurance under the new insurance for the $35 a month. Everyone on the phone with progressive gave me a different price over 12 hours time. Another driver rear-ended me while texting, and they had Progressive Insurance. I had the car repaired at Raintree Auto in Scottsdale. They did an awesome job, but Progressive refused to pay for the muffler that had internal damage and needed to be replaced. Even after Mr. Casper from Raintree Auto said this happens, Progressive denied that part of the claim and I was stuck with $500 out of my own pocket that Progressive to this day has refused to pay.
