First time trying this place. Running late - my fault. Called to let them know I was 15min behind - was told they would spend 15 min in the cut or charge me $35 no show. I chose the no show. Brand new to the area and this shop was highly recommended. Made an appointment a few days out came back today. What an awesome location with that high end man vibe. You tell when you walk in they know how to treat a beard right. The decor was on point with the music to match the vibe. The price was epic for the tremendous service and cut I received. This is the saddest review I have ever written. My great admiration for these guys have changed. Had a great conversation with Chris to make an appointment for a hair cut. we talked about how well they take care of the locals! Chris was going to Texas, and asked me to call him when he was back, and he would get me in. I have left messages for him, they have not been returned. Best I can tell, after 40 years of business in Stillwater, I must not be a local- Now I add that after this review, that Chris just called me and acted like a 5 year old child.Said I threatened him. The return call, instead of making an appointment for me, he said he was calling the police on me. For what, telling the truth. Chis said he makes $100,000 a year and gives $30,000 to Stillwater causes. He was screaming and would not give me a chance speak. Then screamed that I am not welcome in his store. I personally didn't get my haircut (duh), but I tagged along and got to experience one of the most fun barbershops I've ever seen! Chris is awesome! So nice and so focused on giving quality cuts. He was great to chat with and you can definitely tell his personality through the decor in the place. The barbershop is in the downstairs on a mansion looking building - I'm pretty sure it's called "*Insert name here* Mansion". There's a small private parking lot which is nice and there are signs on the door for Prohibition Barbers. The inside is something else. Lots of cool decor and great music! But the best, best, BEST part is the cute and cuddly dogs, Gandalf the Grey and Bertha May. They just hang out on the couch, but since I wasn't getting a cut I got to hang out with them! Went for the first time to see Chris after reading so many great reviews for Prohibition Barbers. Was an amazing experience. The shop is stylish and unique just like the barbers. They have two friendly dogs to greet you and are happy to be pet. Chris took his time to give an excellent haircut and beard trim and gave very good advice for caring for my beard. I hesitated for months, probably years, before I came in. I've always wanted to try a real barber, but have had a great relationship with my hairstylist and I've always been hesitant as a female coming into a barber shop. I'm so happy I went to Prohibition though! I had fun, the atmosphere was chill and very welcoming! I will definitely be back. I read the reviews and made an appt. They are booked almost a month out. When i arrived I found they were very causal and friendly. Chris cut my hair and he did an OK job, little shorter than I normally do but wasnt bad at all. I was a little disappointed with time and effort honestly. I will say its on me mostly, with such great reviews and booking so far ahead I was expecting more. The other barber spent much more time with his customer, my 10 min cut felt rushed. I can get this at most barbers, I was looking for better. Probably won't be back due to booking and distance. He did a good job just not exceptional. read more
