Those in need truly benefited from the chance for a warm meal of merit + a few minutes of Christian guidance. My daughters and I served plates, bussed tables, and I serviced the water for the dining room. They carry on entirely with NO government support. It is all funded with donations of food and materials which they sell at their thrift shops. They claim 86% of all revenue pass through to the actual rescue mission. That is exceptionally efficient! With their operation they generate an average of 500 meals a day. This translates into 3500 meals a week... or about 15,000 / 30 day month.... or an IMPRESSIVE 180,000 meals a year! Families are served separate from single men, and the men are divided into a safer and not so safe group. Children and young people volunteer and the staff watches over them carefully. Contact or interaction with volunteers and those they serve is well managed and seems safe enough. By the same token those whom my daughters and I served were cordial and grateful with thanks and smiles. I am truly humbled by their plight and am looking to help in more ways then just volunteer hours. I encourage one and all to go volunteer. It will help you find thankfulness for where-ever you are in life ... and your time and efforts will help those in need in meaningful ways. The organization also runs facilities which provide a safe place to sleep. They have rules for those sleeping in their facilities so it is sheltering and permanent continuous residency. Curious and logical. Oh well - there it is .... do some good for others ... maybe do so good for some in our region who have great need for basic survival. I give 4 stars because it can always get better. I have seen amazing work done by other organizations for those in need (in comparison).

Food Share is such an important resource and lifeline to Ventura County! The staff at the…read moredistribution center truly care about their mission, and it definitely shows through their actions. At a former job of mine, Food Share allowed the educational non-profit organization I worked for to shop weekly for fresh produce to distribute directly to elementary school students and families served in need, many of whom struggled with food insecurity. This partnership was vital, and very much appreciated by all because it helped improve food access throughout our community at wellness fairs and nutrition classes. Thank you for your hard work! I will never forget about the huge difference Food Share continues to make in countless lives throughout Ventura County, and the value they place on equity.

Once I arrived it was difficult to figure out how to get actually get in there, the food pantry is around back and you cant just drive back there from the street. Its a little far away but was worth checking out. After reading what happened to Mary M. in 2017 I can't give 5 stars.

DRAGG's mission is to provide an alternative to gangs, graffiti, and other misconduct through a positive workforce training opportunity in the unique environment of the automotive and trade industry. The DRAGG program has operated in Ventura County high schools since 2011, serving at-risk students related to criminal involvement, gang participation, dropping out of school, substance abuse, and other poor life choices. DRAGG leverages the shared enthusiasm within the automotive industry by providing a common interest for students and mentors while building a positive connection. I've volunteered with ACTION several times with my church. I love the interaction I have with the seniors we serve.
