As a local I have been to ASAP multiple times. Every time I have been there the staff is welcoming, and very approachable. The place is very clean and the cats look very happy. We adopted a sweet cat from here in July and we could not be happier. I recommend this place, the application process is a breeze and is paperless. One difference between ASAP from other shelters is that you can foster cats and that they have different age cats avaliable. They will also not discriminate against people with disabilities and try to match you with a cat/kitten. I really enjoyed my experience and highly recommend ASAP. read more

I didn't adopt a cat here, but I wanted to write a review because my daughter is a girl scout and we came here for a field trip. What an amazing place that I honestly didn't even know existed! The people working here are so knowledgeable and good to the cats. The girls had the best time playing with the cats as well! They have small rooms to go in where you can hangout with the cats in an enclosed, safe environment. I can definitely tell that the cats here are really loved and cared for! This is such a loving place for these cats. Also, shoutout to ASAP for being so good with the girl scouts who visited them as well! read more

Amazing shelter, they obviously take great care of the kitties! I brought my 8 month old kitten to get neutered, the whole process was smooth and stress free. They were able to get my kitten in the next day, and they did me a favor as my cat got into something sticky so they cleaned it up for me! I loved the place, very adorable kittens and cats all of different breeds and unique personalities. When I went looking on the internet for a cat I've always wanted a cat of my own, I filled out an application by Tuesday, on Wednesday they called me and told me certain details about this cat and so i slept on it for Thursday thinking what cat to choose from the list I could choose from, I loved Monet, Checkers and much more but I can't remember who else on the list on this recent Friday the 24th (of January) when we pulled into the parking lot they're usually closed unless you have a scheduled time you can schedule at on a closing day a certain time the girls working their are super understandable and definitely know what they do. I checked out all the cats and especially the kittens oh my gosh, if you're a kitten lover you must see these. Then theirs super nice, rascal and crazy kittens, the staff mentioned we can open their crate to pet them up close I petted Monet the same one I put on my list and Tommy a black cat both meowed at us when walking by then when we saw a small box room (I guess you can call it) with tiny kittens in it we didn't know how old each one was but their tiny little fur-balls they were all playing trying to attach my shoes luckily I was wearing tennis shoes I would recommend wearing actual shoes flip flops could get eaten. But these kittens were so cute all different colors and breeds. We had no time limit on how long to be in their for but we lasted around 5 mins they wanted to get out and be free so it was funny gently pushing them back so they don't escape. Then our time we told the staff we be back or I could come on a day they're open but you know what I did, I got a kitten for $75 which wasn't to bad actually and they do this buy one and get one free I would of taken that offer but I don't need a second but I highly suggest if your into kittens or cats please stop here if your in the Goleta area. Staff 10/10 really friendly and helpful especially when they can to accommodate your request. They run through useful information about the cat you choose, if had its shots or anything else. every volunteer/worker at the shelter is extremely helpful. They are always keeping the interest of the cats health in mind and only care about the health and well-being of their cats. I haven't been there to recent but I am happy to know that it is a no kill shelter. I am happy to know that if I need help with food they will help with a bit of food dry and wet if that's what you need. I also go there to get vaccines and spay and neuter. I have been wanting to adopt a cat through one of ASAP cats shops. I now realize I need to look elsewhere for a cat since it's been a month and it's just left me confused and bummed. I contacted a store called cat therapy about the adoption process and was told I needed to go to ASAP to fill out an adoption application. I did this, and never heard back from anyone. It took an additional 3 emails to both asap and the shop and two phone calls each to get any sort of response. I then was sent an email from someone at ASAP saying we'd been approved and can go to the shop to adopt. We go, and we bond with two little kitties. As we go up to show the staff member our approval email she states that we can't adopt unless ASAP cats approves the SPECIFIC cat(s) we are interested in. Which, I understand but it was very upsetting that after so many attempts to contact them; they never made that clear at ASAP. We were then told that the kitties we were wanting were basically ours, we just needed the specific approval for adoption. Well, we found out via Instagram that they had been adopted by someone else and and then we were told it was our fault for not contacting ASAP about the cats and paying the fees and checking the availability. I understand that the shop (cat therapy in SB) is also at fault for not telling us that the cats weren't available but what's upsetting about ASAP is they seem to be impossible to get through to and even when you do, they won't give you ANY clear information on the process of adopting cats through them. Hands down this is the best animal shelter that I have ever visited. This shelter is one of very few true no-kill shelters in the state, and are full of loving and kind volunteers who know each cat by name, cared for in a clean and well-run facility. From the medical staff, trainers, volunteers who do everything from cleaning, feeding, playing with cats, welcoming visitors, they are true cat lovers who are dedicated to bringing the right cat and family together by assessing the needs for both. My home does not allow pets so I come here to get my "cat fix" frequently. Many of the volunteers recognize me and say hello, always friendly and willing to answer my questions even though they know I can't adopt immediately. They are so sweet. I've seen so many diamond-in-the-rough kitties come and go, many of them being older cats that are just the sweetest things just wanting a hooman's lap to warm without all the kitten crazies so they already know how to be clean and use litter boxes. Such cool chill cats! It's always bittersweet seeing them go because I hoped to adopt them, but I'm so glad that they found a good home sooner. I really can't say enough good things about this place. Just go if you're looking for a kitty companion in your life and I'll probably be there to sigh wistfully until I can move and meet my own purrfect kitty match! read more

Very sweet cat shelter. Next to each cat was a small description, and while most of the cats could be touched, the ones that were quarantined had warning stickers so you'd know not to touch. Occasionally they let out some cats to an outdoor area or one of the indoor rooms where visitors could go and play with them, and a few cats are let out to run around on the floor. There are sinks with soap everywhere so as to promote hygiene and the workers are very accommodating about interaction with the cats. Very cute place! read more

ASAP is a fabulous place to adopt a kitty from. The cats are screened well so you know what you are getting yourself into and the staff is extremely knowledgeable. I go out and visit the facility even when I'm not actively looking to adopt to socialize with the cats and to buy merchandise that helps support the facility. This shelter is amazing! I adopted my cat from them and they had behavior specialists available to help her adjust to her new home. The cats are fed a good diet of premium food (Science Diet) and given excellent medical care. They are given a variety of tests that even impressed my veterinarian when she reviewed my cat's medical records from ASAP. Even if you can't adopt due to a variety of reasons, stop by to play with the cats. I stop by every so often to play with the cats and donate. They are always so grateful. read more

Professional, clean, and well maintained facility with excellent knowledgeable staff. I adopted 2 kittens from ASAP and it was a very good experience. I feel good about adopting from this facility because they are not trying to unload pets on people. The ASAP wants to insure that it is a good match for both pets and prospective adopter.
