Distribution activities are several times a year. I've been coming here with a group once a year for years, and we see what the hearts of others do. They refuse perfectly reasonable donations. For example, I brought in 6 clean, completely working florescent shop light fixtures with bulbs and the guy manning the donation door refused them. When I asked why he said they only accept new, in the box LEDs. Seriously?! This was just this week. I've seen this attitude over the past 2 years with other attempts to donate. Inside, the store looks like a mash-up of a used furniture store, a Goodwill with books and dishware, or Olle's inventory overruns; and less and less like a house restoration store with used tools and hardware. Oh, they don't accept wall tiles and ceramics any more either. But if a shipment of trampolines or yard furniture show up, they'll sell them!

They make international connections by inviting individuals to Cleveland for professional exchange. I've worked with members of all ages who have come to Cleveland for short stays of a few weeks, to longer stays of one year or more. Participants that I've worked with have come from countries such as Bosnia, Ghana, Holland, and Belarus. One area of focus is to help these professionals go back to their countries to revitalize infrastructure and community. Volunteering was a great experience. I made many international friends while showing them around town, connecting them to social activities, and even taking them on road trips to Niagra Falls. CIP is a super organization to support!
