He told me I only needed 3 weeks to study after the practice test. I studied for 3 weeks intensely and passed the PMP exam on the first try with an "Above Target" score. My Project Management Academy (PMA) experience was outstanding and resulted in me passing the PMP exam the first time. Early March I took the 4-day PMP Boot Camp which was taught by a phenomenal instructor, John D. John taught my class with professionalism, incorporated real-life experiences / examples, and was able to break-down the PMBOK into understandable and relatable pieces. After completing the class, I took a couple weeks to utilize the PMA's website and on-line material. Most helpful was the Study Plan, additional Course Outline material, and practice exams. I attended a preparation workshop conducted by Bill Holmes back in January of 2024. This workshop provided a solid foundation of understanding regarding the Agile principles and methodology covered in the PMI-ACP certification exam. I took the exam in February just a few weeks after having attended Bill's workshop and had no problem passing the exam. Perhaps more importantly though, Bill went above and beyond simply preparing our team for the exam. He challenged us to look at our existing Agile business processes and to evaluate these against the Agile practices we were learning. I had Bill Holmes as an instructor for the PMP class over in Jacksonville and he was GREAT!! Super knowledgeable guy with a very bubbly personality so I learned a lot and didn't ever get tired and want to fall asleep during any class. He taught us A LOT in a short period of time and made it fun with real world examples of how the Material applies to our different industries, which made it easier to remember!! I just passed my PMP test Above Target, thanks to the great boot camp training course I had with Michael Giacalone and the detailed online and physical material received during the course. The practice exams really help in preparing you for the real deal, I'm happy with the results and the investment of time and money was well worth it, thanks again to the team at Project Management Academy. The course was in the St. John's Town Center which was really central and easy to find, I took the boot camp in late Jan/2019, having never seen the PMBOK before taking it and took the test the first week of May/2019. As a licensed Professional Engineer, I envisioned sailing through the boot camp course as well as the exam. Reality hit within the first few hours of the first day when I realized the volume of content to absorb! PMA's instructor, John Dokos, put me at ease by presenting the course material in a fashion which allowed good note taking as well as good study guidance. He would often provide analogies of the course curriculum to his various workplace assignments which helped to allow me to grasp an understanding with ease. I recently went to the class in March 2018, Jacksonville, FL led by instructor John Dokos. I was not sure what to expect as this was my first experience in this type of training. The training was very well developed in manageable learning blocks which provided a solid foundation to take the PMP exam. I will have to say there is more studying required to fully grasp all of the material, but I accomplished passing the test the first attempt and did it one week after the class!! I just completed a 4-day Project Management Academy bootcamp in February 2026 in Jacksonville with instructor Raquel Horta. Raquel was excellent, deeply knowledgeable about the PMP and able to guide us through the material with patience and grace.
