In August 2025, I took a PMP online prep course with John Dokos via PMA. John was a great instructor, giving us a mix of required information, anecdotes, and helpful tips. This course was four half-days on consecutive weeks. It's a lot of material and attention required, so this was a good structure. I can't imagine doing this as full days over the weekend. Regardless, John was able to keep our attention and engagement across these marathon sessions. He truly embodies PM as a mindset, as he's been a PM across multiple industries and decades. In addition to content, the tips he offered included how and when to get the most out of Project Management Institute resources while prepping for the exam, which improved my readiness for the exam and even saved some money. As far as PMA, the amount of supporting material is immense. PMA offers prep exam questions, videos, and more. Their prep questions are very specific and start to repeat after a while. They are more useful for reviewing material than prepping for the exam specifically, for which I'd recommend the $49 PMI Study Hall as a final step. I took a March 2025 virtual class with John D and it was truly invaluable. John provided information on what we actually needed to know for the test, and even things we didn't need to worry about. Very glad that I took this to prepare. Once the class was over, per John's direction, I used the PMA Learning Dashboard to do all the quizzes, tests and mock exams. I am happy to say that, even though I am fairly new to project management, I passed on the first try!! John was very helpful in giving us tips on how to apply for the test as well. I took the two-weekend virtual classroom PMP Bootcamp with Scott Rudowski during August of 2019. Scott was an excellent course facilitator who added personal experience, extra real-world examples, and tips he's gleaned from exam feedback from prior students and colleagues to make the course more than a simple "OK, let's dryly go through the PMBOK Guide." PMA's online study materials, namely the Question & Answer and Timed Practice Exam tools, are phenomenal and really help if you learn by drilling questions. The study tips and timeline are very helpful as well, though your best course of action is to know how you learn best (for me, reading the PMBOK Guide and taking hand-written summary notes, followed by drilling questions). All-in-all, the course isn't cheap, but the bonus prep materials and length of time you have access to them (6 months) really help you feel you are getting value for your money. He did a great job walking us through important concepts and how to analyze a question and work through the relevant concepts. I really wish I wasn't pushed to write this...but the instructor asked me multiple times via email to do so. So, here I am. I was a participant in the August 4th Weekend Boot Camp. The class was reasonably engaging...reasonably in the sense that we were able to type comments in the comments box. There were quite a few times during the first weekend (Aug 4th and 5th) that I asked a question or offered a comment and didn't receive feedback, a response or an answer. I chalked it up to a busy instructor going through a great deal of material in a short time. I realized by the second week that the class was literally just going through the motions of reading powerpoint slides. The only time the class actually got any good out-of-slide value add was during the Risk portion, where the instructor droned on for about 15 minutes about automotive risk, tires and a company that never recovered from a risk related issue that wasn't their fault. It was a great story, mind you, and I thought that this would be a major portion of the Risk section of the PMP Exam...since he was spending so much time on it. It was not. He just likes telling that story. I did pass the exam, but only after spending an additional week with material from a Udemy.com course. I felt unprepared to take this exam based on the material alone, and the instructor made sure to tell the class that "...this course alone won't help you pass..." and that we needed to "...study individually for [an additional] 4-6 weeks..." before attempting the exam. I understand the logic: do more, more time under tension, blahblahblah, but a "boot camp" should better prepare a person for stuff and things. Why did I pay you over $1800 if you were just going to 1) go through a slideshow presentation (that I can't get access to, by the way...) and 2) tell me that the course isn't enough to pass the exam? I cannot recommend this course to anyone, unless the person knows absolutely nothing about project management and wants to see the PBMOK in detail to begin their journey. read more

I took an in-person PMP Bootcamp with instructor Scott Mitchell last September in NYC. Scott was a great instructor, who kept engaging the whole class, regardless of their experience level. He was able to make a boring topic interesting and added real life examples to make difficult subjects relatable. The study materials provided ended up being a big help in preparation for the test. I did not do much studying on my own and was able to pass the PMP exam on the first try after finishing Bootcamp. Although the cost was fairly high, it was absolutely worth it. Would recommend for anyone who wants to learn the material in a short period of time. read more

The PMA organization provided a lot of resources and support to use after the bootcamp which were extremely useful. From tutoring support to exam tip study guides, I really felt a sense of structure in an otherwise convoluted pathway to study for the exam. I took my bootcamp course with Crystal Richards at the end of June 2021 and I have to say she did a fantastic job of giving us a crash course for the PMP exam! It's one thing to take a bootcamp course in person but doing this all virtually is tough and she really made the course engaging and made it easier to take in the high volume of dense content that the PMP demands us to take on. She even fought her way through a power outage on the final day to make sure we got the learning we needed! I stuck to the study plan suggestion and committed to completing my course within 6 weeks of taking the course. I just finished the virtual bootcamp with instructor Derek Beck. This is the second PMP Prep course I've taken. The first course was with a different organization, and I was left feeling lost. I came into this course with some basic knowledge of what would be covered, but was very unclear on multiple areas, including the foundational PM Knowledge Areas. Derek has an amazing way of explaining all components of the PMP in a way that actually makes me excited to study. Previous to this course, I was very discouraged about the material. Thanks to Derek's teaching style, I have a much better grasp on the concepts, and the study material is much more targeted so I know where to focus. What I appreciated most was the involvement he allows the students. He had us take practice questions live, and asked us to talk through our answers. The Project Management Academy called me the day after I posted my initial review and apologized profusely after talking to me very curtly when I called to resolve the issue of certificate they still hadn't sent me. Additionally, they apologized profusely for their instructor's lateness and poor facilitation. They offered to have me come to another 4 day boot camp, which I explained I did not need, and additionally could not take another week away from work to correct their mistakes. This is when it gets interesting-- the company offered me a full refund (I did not ask for this) becuase they were sorry that the class hadn't been satisfactory to make things right. I actually thought this was a really upstanding offer from a company to right their wrong and had planned on amending my review to state this. They then asked me that since they were giving me a full refund would I be willing to remove my 2-star review. I told them candidly I don't know how I would feel about that ethically, and I thought the review was a factual, unbiased assessment. Today I called to see where the certificate was and on the status of the refund. I was told the company put the certificate in the mail the day after I called, as of today it is still yet to arrive, they told me it might be here the next day. When I asked about the refund they told me that since I wouldn't remove the review we hadn't come to resolution so they would not be refunding me. It is very interesting that the first time it was presented as a refund for the class not being satisfactory when really it was the company offering a refund to remove my review. I am very wary of all the reviews on Yelp now, this is how I selected this company to do a PMP class with and I showed bad judgment in trusting these reviews. I organized a 3 1/2 day PMP exam boot camp for a group of project managers in my office (Westchester). The coach (Scott Mitchell) found a perfect balance of conveying important information, bringing it to life with real life examples and keeping it light enough that everyone was engaged until day 4. I took the PMP course the week of 3/23/20 led by Joe Snyder and the course was a great, in-depth introduction to the PMP material. Joe led the class well and answered questions before, during and after the course to help us prepare for the exam. In addition to the course, PMA provides all the material you will need to study and pass the certification including: the PMBOK textbook, PMP exam guides, AGILE guide, study cards, practice exams and more. This is a tough exam and you'll need to utilize the tools and track your performance to make sure you're ready. The tools provided by PMA will make sure you are sufficiently prepared. I didn't realize until late that a recorded version of the entire course is included along with practice quizzes for each section. A month or two before the exam, review the entire course again and take the practice quizzes until you consistently score over 90% - that really helped me to pass. This course is essential if you want to pass the exam and attain the certification. read more

As most people know, the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam is one of the hardest exams with 200 questions completed over a 4HR time frame. It's not common for people to pass on the 1st try. There are even MIT grads that didn't pass the first time. However, there were many great reviews about Project Management Academy and their preparation methods with respective passing rates. I worked with our organization to get our team to prep and obtain the 35 Hours Education Credits needed for PMP via PMA and was so happy that we did! We took the course in October of 2017. All of us passed the first time and that is due in part to PMA's outstanding course instruction, instructor and materials. I am writing this review to communicate the great experience I had with the Project Management Academy when I took the PMP Exam course in September 2017. My instructor, Alan Gopin, was very knowledgeable in the Project Management field and articulated the course material, tips and best practices for preparing and taking the PMP exam very well. Alan emphasized the key points to pay close attention to throughout the course, to avoid pit falls when taking the exam. The course material, laminate study guides and practice exams provided by Project Management Academy was critical to me passing the PMP exam. Alan advised if we follow his guidance for preparing for the PMP, that we would pass the PMP on the first try. Guess what, I took the exam in October 2017 and passed on the first try. read more

I took PMA's PMP Exam Prep Course in September 2016 (New York, NY). The course is well planned out so you will not run into the problem of missing topics or running out of time. The instructor is knowledgeable and has experience presenting the course material as well as real world expertise. There is enough in-class practice for a crash course. Taking the last day to do a mock exam with scoring helps to consolidate the material. However, there are exercises at the end of each knowledge area that we skipped over to do on your own. It would be good to find time to do these during class time. That's the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. read more

I attended PMP's boot camp workshop in November 2017 in Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ. A week later, I took and passed my CAPM exam on the first try. The instructor (Alan Gopin) is a seasoned project management professional, who draws from real-life experiences to explain concepts to help the students understand the vocabulary and terms. PMA provides students with all the resources required to study for the exam - PMBOK, exam strategies guide, flash cards, etc. PMA's website provides students with access to pre-assessment tests, video tutorials, flash cards and practice quizzes. When the quizzes and tests are graded, the answers are accompanied by a description of why the correct answer is the best answer and why the others are not. I absolutely credit PMA with my exam prep success and recommend this course to anyone interested in obtaining their PMP or CAPM certifications. read more
