The facility offers many features including an indoor pool, a huge 50M outdoor lap pool, water slides, diving boards, squash courts (my personal fav), racket ball courts, kids gym with rock climbing wall, basketball courts, indoor track, weight room, yoga studio, spinning studio, tennis courts, softball diamonds, soccer fields... Whew... That is just the athletic facilities. They also offer many other community related services such as pre-school, day care, child and adult education, self defense training, fine arts programming... etc... The JCC is truly a world-class facility and my corporate membership that costs ~$50 per month is a steal! Generally speaking, for such a large facility with so many members, the place never seems jam-packed with people like Life Time Fitness always seems to be. The longest that I've ever waited for a lane at the indoor pool is about 30 minutes. 95% of the time I dont even need to wait. I've never waited for a lane at the outdoor pool and I always am able to schedule a squash court. I hesitate to write this review because I dont want a mad-rush of new members to spoil my oasis... :-D The JCC is a truly great facility and a asset to the greater KC Area...

It's a step up from what the city offers and is a bit more expensive, but less intense than KC Ballet, which was what I was looking for. The only reason I'm going 4/5 is because the complex is massive and for folks like me that are only coming once a week for a class it was really hard to find where I needed to go on day one and the folks at the front desk had no idea where the dance classes were held. They were very nice though so that did soften the blow. Now that I know where to go it's all smooth sailing and I'd recommend them to others.

The venue is perfect for concerts, plays etc. and every seat is a good seat. I first saw Mr. Botti in concert years ago and I thought I would literally lose it. He tore that trumpet up. I have never heard a trumpet sound THAT good, ever! HE is the very reason I fell in love with it. My instrument of love was always the saxophone, but honey all that changed after hearing this cat. He also happens to have the coldest band ever and is such a brilliant yet caring person. He provides opportunities for other phenomenal musicians to play with him from all over the world...not everyone does that...talk about unselfish, it's very admirable. Having taken…read more4 year of art classes in high school in Shreveport Louisiana I had been lucky enough to have gotten a good foundation in art early with dedicated teachers. While in Louisiana I had some newspaper articles written about my art while there. When I first arrived at the Art Institute in 1965, I move into the then new dormitory with a excellent cafeteria and dinning area that impressed me. However, dorm life was a disappointment since I had to share the room with a roommate that had no intentions of finishing the semester and I had one these guys for my first two semesters. Both boys (they never grew up) were always having friends over (who also were quitting) so they were drinking and partying in the room at all hours of the night. I was forced to go downstairs and study in the dinning area to get my work done. I was disappointed in the Art Institute, first in my Foundation Training in that from what art work I saw that my instructors had done reminded me of my first year in high school art. However, I had never liked English or History in high School but I love attending both of these classes taught by Roy Culver (English) and John Burke (History) . My second year I started my major Industrial Design thinking about being a car designer or at least product designer. Again, I was disappointed in the teaching and had a strong feeling that my teacher who was also the Dean John Lotus really had no experience teaching Industrial Design. I also noticed that there were many manufacturing companies in Kansas City at the time that were probably using Industrial Designers but we were never exposed to these companies and those companies more than likely never knew there was a Industrial Design department at the Art Institute. The final straw and the reason I dropped out of the Art Institute was a story told to our Industrial Design class mid term of my second semester. I was already wondering what I was doing at the Art Institute when one morning Dean Lotus came into the classroom with a big smile on his face and told us that he had received a phone call from one of his best students that had graduated the year before and that the student had gotten a great job. After a long story about how great the student had been while a student at the Art Institute our Dean told us that this student had gotten a job in Minnesota with a big manufacture called Church they manufactured toilet seats. I said nothing and finished the class then walked to the Resistor Office and resigned. I was drafted into the Army 90 days later and later sent to Vietnam. I did get the job as an Technical Illustrator and stationed in Saigon where I not only helped put out a magazine there (GRUNT Magazine) that turned out to be quit popular and even today issues are for sale on the internet and even some colleges have it in their archives. I was assigned to a photo unit and we sometimes made ID photos for American construction contractors and after talking to them I decided to change employment directions. When I left Vietnam I when back to LSU in Louisiana and got a degree in Engineering and 4 months after graduation I got a job with a oil company working in New Guinea, I never stopped from that point working in Thailand, Sumatra, Vietnam, Bahrain, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Nigeria. Frist I will say that my early art education taught me to think outside the box that had been an asset in my professional life enabling to solve engineering problems that were though impossible before. I went on to being a Project Manager on my last $6billion project in Nigeria before retiring in Thailand where I am writing this review at 76.

Training Umbrella takes hospitality to an unprecedented level. Never before have I attended a training course and been privy to the assortment of complimentary items they offer. Every morning there is free breakfast food (cinnamon rolls, bagels, breads, cakes, bagels). You can get your fill of unlimited coffee, tea, or sodas from the fridge. There is a microwave and a toaster if you need them as well. A basket of salty and sweet snacks is always stocked on the counter. Not only that, but every afternoon the desk clerk bakes fresh chocolate chip cookies and brings them into the classroom. It's almost surreal.

The Project Management Academy Bootcamp course led by Gary Lind was absolutely amazing. I very much enjoyed learning from him as he gave actual examples for all the topics and critical concepts we covered. He also was extremely engaging and made the class very exciting and fun to be a part of. Gary is obviously someone with an extensive background and knowledge and pair that up with his current role as a pilot and you get one heck of an instructor with extreme enthusiasm and passion. That level of dedication to students (including responding to emails at 3AM) is very difficult to find in the education space. Because of Gary, what could have been a long and arduous 4 days of intensive studying, turned into a very fun, all-encompassing learning experience that goes beyond just the PMBOK. I looked forward to the course each and every day and thoroughly enjoyed it. I passed my exam scoring above average in all 3 criteria areas because of Gary's coaching and prep. He not only discussed the material but also the mindset of the exam taker and the ways to beat a test and understand how to find correct answers when you are not 100% certain. I am so happy with my CAPM Prep course! This 3-day course was full of knowledge delivered by an instructor led virtual class over Zoom. Our instructor, Hans Meijer from Miami, FL, was absolutely amazing. It was obvious that he was teaching with years of hands-on experience and that he was passionate about passing on his knowledge. I attended the PMP Bootcamp in September of 2018 and my instructor was John D. I passed the CAPM exam after attending the training. I took the CAPM instead of the PMP because I didn't meet all the requirements for the PMP exam. The material and resources provided were amazing and super helpful. John made the material from the PMBOK very easy to understand and had lots of industry knowledge to help make things relate to real world. I would advise anyone who wants to pass either the PMP or the CAPM to attend this bootcamp. They have lots of online resources for studying and reviewing the material. The online videos have lots of information and John brings more information that combined made it easy to pass this the test. read more

I attended the Project Management Academy PMP training in February 2018. I highly recommend the course for anyone who is serious about taking, and passing, the PMI PMP certification test. My instructor, Alan Gopin, was excellent. He thoroughly understood the material and has practical experience to enhance the lessons. The course and study material provides a structured approach to learning the PMI methodology. The in class training reviews all of the material you will need to know and the website provides the study helps to learn and understand the material. I participated in the PMP Exam-Prep Bootcamp offered by PMA in November of 2014. This camp was a 4 day instructor led course. Francis Mies (the instructor) was great and bought a lot of pertinent real world examples to our class. PMA provided a good number of study materials (i.e. various handouts and online videos) including the PMBOK. After bootcamp, PMA continued to provide support and access to mock exams, videos and other study materials for 6 months. Most importantly, I was able to pass the PMP exam on my first try. If you are serious about sitting for the PMP exam, I would highly recommend taking a bootcamp to help you prepare for that exam. read more

I attended the Nov 2018 PMP prep course in Overland Park, KS. The instructor John did a great job of relating the concepts taught in the PMBOK and the training materials to real world examples. I attended the January 2019 PMP Exam-Prep Bootcamp offered by PMA and taught by John Dokos. I sat for my exam two days following the conclusion of the Bootcamp and passed with an above target score. I attended the 4-day PMP bootcamp with Alan Gopin in February 2018. While the class was completely immersive and moved at a very fast pace, it completely set me up to pass the exam. The 4-day classes broken down the PMBOK into manageable and easy to understand chapters and taught me the basics needed to become a PMP. I really enjoyed the process of prepping for the PMP exam through training at PMA. The Bootcamp was the first step, Aug2022, lead by Wayne Brantley. Wayne has a tremendous history and a wealth of knowledge that he is able to relate and relay to his students. The bootcamp is fast paced, a lot of information but incredibly useful. I met this guy, Mr. Ted Carey at someone's garden, and to make a long(winded)…read morestory short, he works with K-State in an extension research location in Olathe, where he specializes in research where a person uses large tunnels (think quonset huts) to extend the growing season of vegetables and fruits. The best part is, he told me that during the growing season (they do various berries, for instance), they need volunteer pickers, and the pickers can pick a bucket for every bucket they pick for the research people! From a pamphlet of some sort of open house they did, they say they grow: "collards, cucumber, eggplant, onion, garlic, squash, melon, rhubarb, asparagus, blueberry, blackberry and raspberry. Research is also under way on organic fertility and pest management techniques, including compost tea, EM, and the use of screened high tunnels." In addition, their research arm is beginning a certification program (as far as I know the only one in the area) with JCCC for sustainable farming entrepreneurship called, appropriately enough, "Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurship Certificate" (http://www.jccc.edu/home/depts.php/1205/site/sustainableag). It's in its first years, but it hopes to teach the basics of beginning your own farm business with a focus on practical experience with at the Horticulture research place in Olathe during the year and a half long program.
