My daughter goes here for junior training and we had a very bad experience. There were a couple on incidents Bobby would constantly bully and yell at the players because they couldn't perform the exercise training. One day my daughter was in tears after practice and I asked her what was wrong, she told me coach Bobby yelled at her because she wasn't able as good as the other girls. That made me upset how can this guy call him a coach when he puts them down and bully them. So I'm putting it on here to warn others of his poor coaching skills. read more

I can't help but have my heart hurt when reading these negative reviews about a program that has brought so many great opportunities for those that 1.cant afford the training 2.wanna play but doubt their skill level 3. A program that truly gives back to the community that Bobby loves through and through. I have been so Blessed and Fortunate to have met Bobby and able to call him a friend well heck he is Ohana, Mi Familia, my brother, and truly what human kindness is. He did not have to do what he did for myself or my family as we were helping my aunt battle a disease that she succumb to after a long hard fight. Project Serve and Bobby helped get together a charity tournament that helped raise money for my family to help with medical expenses and doing all this knowing Bobby could have had clinics and lessons and doubles tournaments, but he did not he offered his courts, time, and gave my family reassurance that there are still good people left in this world that are selfless in a time of need. Project Serve is Austin Sand Volleyball. It offers volleyball lessons, open play and tournaments. There is nothing in the area (that I have heard of ) that so closely emulates actual beach volleyball. Being on a hill with no wind stops you get wind that is so typical on a breezy beach, some of the finest sand around, and the nets look brand new (and are lightning fast to adjust up or down to men's/women's height). I saw a negative review had been left, and I had a very hard time believing it for several reasons. First being that I looked at the person's review history and it was almost comical how many one star reviews were left, it actually made me laugh out loud. Secondly, I have played on Bobby's courts over 20 times, have been around him a lot and he is super accessible because he is always there, even on the days of 110 heat index, he's out there in it. Do people get days off at most jobs, yeah, so if he missed a day, I think a rational person could realize that is a pretty normal thing to have happen. I will say, I've never seen a lesson yet where he wasn't supervising it, if he did have assistance. He has always been super outgoing and accommodating, always keeping things light, but on the court he's a fierce competitor, and I mean that in the most complimentary way. I keep up with the upcoming events, open play, tournaments, etc. they offer on their Facebook Page, seems to be the easiest. Well I hope this is helpful for those new in town or just wanting to get better, I feel very lucky to have stumbled upon Project Serve, and am speeding up the learning curve a little more each visit. read more

Fair warning, this may be a bit long winded. I feel like it's necessary to explain exactly why I'm giving this business 1 star. First off, Bobby Jones is a complete hack. He bills himself with all of these credentials and accolades, of which none are very impressive. And let's be honest, there's a reason you become a coach. It's either because you are too old to play professionally anymore or you just aren't good enough to play professionally but you still have a passion for the sport. When it comes down to it. Bobby just isn't a very good person. If there isn't money involved he wants nothing to do with it. So, if you're a parent looking to get training for your junior, you may very well have a different experience than I. If you're willing to keep throwing money at this guy. I heard about Project Serve a while back and wanted to give it a shot. So I paid for a private lesson. And paid the premium to have the head coach Mr. Bobby Jones run it. I get there and he avoids me until right at the start time. He then asks me what I would like to work on. I tell him my serve receive passing, maybe some hitting/approach issues, and if we have time, defensive strategies. We proceed to do one drill for the entire session. And what's more, the training only lasted 45 mins, not the hour I paid for. And half way through Bobby decides to have another coach, who was shanking balls, run the drill with me. So not only did I pay extra for Bobby and not get it. I didn't even get the full hour. Let's chalk that up to a bad day. So I decide to give one of their tourneys a shot. I show up on time, albeit, literally on time, not a second to spare. And while I was parking I get a call from the tourney director Chrissy Glen. "Hey where are you we have subs waiting to play we have to kick you from the tourney." I told her I was parking and was able to play that day but I've never been treated like that. I've never been late to a tourney luckily, but I've seen people show up late to different locations like Aussies/Moontower/Kreig/Zilker/Riata and the tourney director makes every effort to fit them in. Like give them a later first game so they have time to get there. I've never seen anyone get kicked though. Let's chalk that up to growing pains as it was one of their first tourneys. One last shot. I sign up for this Invicta training class that meets every Tues & Thurs. Day one Bobby tries explaining how it works. There are no coaches. You pay to play pick up basically. He says in his introduction speech, "If you don't like it, go train somewhere else". OK, great start. A few drills into the session one of the other players in the class is trying to run the whole thing and he's yelling at people (not in a motivating kind of way) then he starts kicking balls. I tell him, to calm down and stay positive, that's the only way we are all going to effectively increase our skill level. We train for the remainder of the time slot without a much needed coach, as we are all pretty much blind leading blind. And there was no mediator to step in when that guy started kicking balls. I've had numerous experiences with Project Serve and the staff there. I will not be spending anymore time or money there and would warn anyone thinking about doing so. I hope the multiple examples above help show what kind of organization this is. But if you are still not convinced I would hope that you ask around before signing up for anything. Everyone I know in the volleyball community have reaffirmed my experiences. Just ask anyone for an honest review of Bobby Jones and his organization. Coaches Bobby, Sara and Josh know their stuff. After only a month and a half, I can see major changes in my daughter's technique, strength and stamina. The sand training has gone a long way in making our daughter a better player on the hardwood, and the Christ centered approach to sports means a lot to her mother and I. The coaches understand volleyball technique and they know how to teach players in a way that brings out their very best. I highly recommend the Project Serve Volleyball Club to players of all ages and levels of experience. The families we have recommended Project Serve to have tried it, and loved it. Alright. This will be very thorough. Me: I'm a Wednesday and Friday open play player and frequent on the weekends for a few hours in the morning to get in some doubles before the day starts. I'm not a professional and am just an amateur volleyball player just like 90% of the people that attend these courts. Bobby is the owner and Josh basically works there full time. Josh has always been in a good mood and always welcoming and willing to help out. Bobby has consistently treated people poorly and has a reputation among the volleyball community in Austin for being a crook and having horrendous customer service for his business he is trying to run. Here is why. There are 4 courts here. There is open play that we all go to Wednesday and Friday that everybody pays a subscription for $20 per month. This includes all 4 courts. 1) He consistently rents out the first court to soccer tennis players during the open play time frames that we have all paid for. He then charges the tennis soccer players an additional 20 dollars a piece to play for the night. The open play players that have paid for the month of play time get kicked off the court, even though they have paid for it. The most recent occurrence, the open players were kicked off, and then the tennis soccer players were told they needed to pay an additional $5 dollars a piece if they wanted to play on the court they paid $20 a piece to reserve already. This is charging people twice for a service they do not receive and is unethical even on the loosest of standards. 2) Bobby (the owner) puts up tournaments and organizes a cash price for the winner. Bobby is an open player, which is well above the skill level for these tournaments. He then plays in the tournaments to beat less skilled players to try and win the money from his own tournament. That's about as unethical as it gets. 3) The courts are incredibly pitted out. That's normal as there are so many people that play here and pay to play here. We arrived an evening for open play and we were told we needed to help flatten two of the four courts out by hand. This would have taken 10 guys at least 5 hours to truly flatten out the 30 cubic yards of sand that at pilled up. If you are charging people to play and use your courts, you should be leveling them every so often to keep them in good shape. Feel free to message or reach out if you have any questions. What a difference a year of training with Project Serve has made in my daughter's volleyball game. She not only found a passion for the beach scene - earning a spot at the BVCA's and AAU JO's - but her indoor game got exponentially better. The indoor game not only got better from just her total physical improvement (I.e. jump higher, faster, stronger and general conditioning) but her passing, serving and reading the hitter all moved her from being a rotational player to playing every point for her club and school team. I joined their inaugural sand volleyball league which was not really a league at all. We played the same 2 teams, every week. We pretty much paid to play pickup for two hours and for a mediocre-quality shirt; and I've seen that they are capable of ordering quality shirts. They must be reserved for the clients who pay per class. Back to this "league," the games were not monitored or refereed, so no rules were called. The two teams we played against often had net, doubles, attacks, and lost track of the score (I am guilty of this last one). Overall, this league is overpriced and should not be referred to as a league. I understand there are a few glitches that come with an inaugural program, but Project Serve needs to work on organizing their current programs and make sure those are run efficiently (classes, tournaments) instead of trying to jump the gun, disappointing people and potential clients. On the final day of league, I didn't expect anything that would happen in a normal league to happen (playoffs via seeding structure, championship medal/shirts). I showed up and the courts were packed. Men's training class was going on in one court and "free play pick up" or something was going on with prizes available for some kind of winners. I had no idea what they were going for, because it seems like it was a last-minute, unannounced type of event or phone calls were made for people to just show up. Something about prizes being given away for these pick up players. I suggest if Project Serve wants to give away prizes on its last day of "league," they make the prizes available to the league players that paid. During one of their weekly night tournaments, a team went head to head with Bobby's team in doubles. The other team was clearly playing better, and because of that, Bobby decided he would make the calls instead of the team assigned to ref that game. He made false calls throughout the game towards the other team, but half of his hand sets were doubles. Guess which team won? read more

Project Serve, Coach Bobby, and his team are awesome coaches and even better people. We feel so grateful they are coaching our daughter and not only care about her improving her game, care about her as a person. My daughter has seen a great improvement in just the three months she has been part of the team and that is with really only going once or twice a month due to High School VB conflicts. She is really looking forward to seeing her improvements once she can go full time! Coach Bobby practices what he preaches and supports each girl on the team equally and with passion to make them the best players and people they can be. My daughter looks forward to going to practices. They are tough workouts but also fun and rewarding. Coach Bobby touches base with his players asking them for feedback on how they feel they are doing, what they need to work on, and how they feel the team and coaches are doing then he acts on their feedback and implements a plan for each player to work on their needs. He doesn't tell you what he thinks you want to hear he is transparent and honest! We are so fortunate to have Project Serve in Austin! It is so gratifying to have mentors and coaches like Bobby, Felipe, and Molly in our daughter's life making such a positive impact on her! read more

I have been training with Project Serve for about 6 months and the results have been incredible. Not only have I gotten better at volleyball; I am also in the best shape of my life. Bobby has the perfect combination of excitement and patience. It is clear that he genuinely cares about each person he coaches, and he knows how to communicate with and motivate people at all skill and fitness levels.
