Be VERY cautious before signing up for personal training here. The initial "free session" was mostly a high-pressure sales process, which in hindsight should have been a red flag. Some aspects of the program also didn't match how they were presented during sign-up (things like guidance around goals, communication, and support outside of sessions). I do want to say that my trainer herself was kind and genuinely good during the sessions I had with her. I don't think the issue is the individual trainers as much as the structure of the program. That said, I did run into a couple of scheduling issues where I showed up for confirmed appointments that had been reassigned, and communication overall was inconsistent. I also would have appreciated more proactive follow-up--I needed to cancel my last session in December, life has been crazy, it's now Mid April and I never heard from anyone again--though I acknowledge I could have reached out as well. *****The biggest issue, however, has been the cancellation process.***** The contract requires written notice through a specific support email, and in practice, that process has been slow and difficult to navigate. It took multiple attempts to get clear direction, and communication was limited to being routed back to the same support channel without meaningful follow-through. Based on my experience and similar complaints from other customers, this appears to be a pattern. This creates a situation where it's easy to sign up, but MUCH harder than expected to cancel. A well equipped commercial gym with a women's gym section that is very convenient if you aren't comfortable with the open floor. Machines are well loved but rarely broken or damaged. If a machine is being repaired, there's usually a second machine to use. It's not as clean as other gyms but that is not solely the gym's responsibility. The cleaning stations commonly need to be replenished but there's also nearly cleaning stations you can resort to. Plus you get extra steps, win? At times it may be too hot but I see the benefit of a heated gym- it's not always optimal during the summer. For the convenience and practicality of a gym, it meets the standards. Nothing fancy but nothing lacking. They could use a better range of fitness classes. The only classic ever see is Zumba and cycling. You can't beat the amenities for the price! read more

I've been going to Fitness Connection for over two years, and it's honestly been frustrating. I'm not saying all the equipment is broken, but there are always at least 6 machines out of order at any given time--and they take months to fix them. It's ridiculous. Yes, it's a $10/month gym, but that's no excuse for neglect. The place is overstaffed, but nobody seems to take responsibility for maintenance. I've told them repeatedly for over a year to add more 15s, 20s, and 25s dumbbells. Still nothing. They just don't listen. At one point, I even offered to help fix one of the broken Smith machines, but they didn't even know what part was missing or what to say. I've taken photos of 10 broken machines--it's that bad. This place has potential, but the management clearly doesn't care about upkeep or member feedback. And yeah, I know they might reply to this review with something like, "Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we'll make it right," blah blah blah... come on bro, you and I both know that's not true. read more

They use an outsourced coaching service, they come in to manage the gym's local trainers and come up with a sales pitch that they train their team on to sell personal training packages. This outsourced company is called "Elevate Fitness Coaching." To purchase personal training, you transact with this company, and all your "Support" (irony) is handled through the email they provide on your agreement. This keeps the gym free and clear of disputes or any responsibility to you when it comes to personal training. Unfortunately for us, we learned this the hard way and I hope to save you from the same painful 2.5 months we've had. The sales person they had the night of our PT consultation was a 20-year-old named Hunter Buckman. I trusted what he was saying was in my best interest. My partner and I met with him for 2 hours, each of us providing our deep intentions and motivations for the program. I only signed up for Fitness Connection in order to have personal training. The sales trainer lied so unbelievably- he is a very charismatic kid, and they didn't schedule my first session until 6 days later, so it took me 6 days to learn the truth. The big lies: - He said the training sessions are 1 hour. - He said there was no cancellation fee. - He said you can pause your membership at any time for as many times as you want. The little lies: - As a part of your personal training benefit, your trainer will come up with a nutrition plan that meets your fitness goals - as discussed with Hunter Buckman. - You will leverage a portal to work with your trainer and reference your plan and goals there. - They did not tell us there would be a registration fee charged on top of our training sessions either. I saw this charge on our cc statement later. After my first training session, I learned the sessions are 30 mins, my trainer had no idea about any portal or nutrition planning, and that freezing is a one-time option, for a fee, that extends your term length. I also learned it would cost me over $1,000 and my partner hundreds to cancel my subscription after 3 days. I messaged Elevate's Support email as per the agreement stating "cancellation requests must be submitted to this email..." They responded initially to say they will get back to me. Once I followed up to say I am concerned you are letting too much time lapse and my account will try to renew - she responded, and I have this in writing from Elevate, to say they will "honor the original date my cancellation request was submitted." Since then, I have not heard from their support desk and it has been over two full months since I submitted my cancellation request. Their billing dept continues to contact us. The billing folks told me they have no way of reaching Elevate and I have to keep emailing Support. They told me that both of our accounts will be sent to Collections unless we make more payments or the people ignoring me will have to acknowledge my cancellation request and change the status. Otherwise, they eventually send us to collections. I have tried emailing the various emails that come in asking for updated payment - ClubReady, Elevate, Tech Ridge, etc. - explaining this again and again. No one has reached out. I have been emailing them for over two months. When I saw Hunter at the gym, he had already heard something was wrong and we talked. I find it upsetting that my Support contact got to his ears, but no one has the business conduct or professional courtesy to reach out. He listened to me, acknowledged that he lied about session length and cancellation policy, apologized to me for being deceptive, (it seemed sincere); and said he would personally see to it his boss wraps up our cancellation request. He even whips out his phone and [pretends to?] text this alleged person. Since that convo, he avoided me a few subsequent times and then left to train his sales method at other gym locations. I am SHOCKED to see how low this rating is! I have been a gym rat off and on for the past 20 years. I started as a 24 Hour Fitness girlie, then Planet Fitness (YIKES), then got real serious with lifting at Golds before I got pregnant and couldn't have that gym life for a decade. Now that kids are older and I'm approaching 40, I decided to get back to the gym life I love so much and my body NEEDED after 10 years of neglect. I was nervous to go back to a gym - I wasn't ready to go back to an expensive gym like Golds or 24, I was NOT going back to planet fitness, then Fitness Connection popped up. Same kinda low cost commitment like Planet but perhaps it wouldn't be as...purple or lunky as planet. Y'ALL. I wish you could have seen my face when I saw alllllllll of the equipment and machines this place has. FOUR platforms. TWO huge TRX type racks where multiple people can perform BB lifts, tbar exercises, body weight hangs/dips, pulls up, etc. At least FOUR bench presses INCLUDING incline and decline benches. THREE leg presses. TWO hack squats. TWO cable machine areas PLUS several assisted cable machines for beginners. A WOMENS AREA and WOMENS ONLY cardio theater (I don't need this but it seems SO useful to so many women who may not be as comfy as I am in the BIG gym). ANY piece of equipment I've ever needed, learned about, or used can be found here. For anyone else who has been consistent at a gym before, y'all know how rare it is to find a "DISCOUNT" gym with ALLLLLL of these things! Even the big gyms don't have this sort of selection. PLUS, for beginners or people with injuries, their assisted machine selection is MASSIVE. You can easily get a full body workout just using the assisted machines while being a full blown newbie. I was totally comfortable when my 70 year old Pops considered FC for himself, I knew they'd have any equipment he'd need and I knew staff would take care of him. On that note, let's talk about that staff. One thing I love most about being a gym rat is my gym community, and this gym has an awesome community BECAUSE of their staff. Even when I am comfortable in a gym some places have staff that just being the energy, good feels, positivity down. Some gyms reek of ego and poor customer service, some gym employees just feel like predatory salesmen, and I was nervous another all of these possibilities when I started at FC, but my experience has been the exact opposite. From front desk, to management, to trainers, to custodial staff...I havent had one bad interaction. In fact, each time I have an interaction with someone I feel even better about my new gym community and I feel even more supported in my post-children-gym-journey. Front desk is also great at welcoming and saying goodbye to members which seems small but it makes a huge difference. These people are obviously here to make sure members feel welcomed and cared about, BEFORE they're looked at as a dollar sign. I SO appreciate how non predatory FC has felt. This FC is so great and the community this location has built is so nice to be around, I've even been trying to get a job there because the positive gym vibe they maintain is something I need and want more of in my life! It's very hard to find this kinda vibe at a big gym, but FC's got it! So, please, if you're considering a new gym a if youre brand new to the gym OR an old gym rat like me getting back to it - TRY Fitness Connection. Their current rating does NOT reflect the experience ive had here over the past 6 months, and id HATE for anyone to find themselves in the purple and yellow nightmare that is Planet Fitness before they get a chance to check out this place. For months over 15 machines have been broken and in the mens bathroom all the urinals are broke. Even all of the water fountains are broken. What's bad is we pay maintenance fees which add up to hundreds of dollars a year that aren't being used to fix any of the broken equipment and a bathroom you cannot even use. read more

Pros: - Staff is friendly and knowledgable - Variety of equipment - Price is affordable - Has a schedule of classes, including weight lifting and biking, that you can do on the weekdays. Cons: - Hours aren't as robust on weekdays and weekends - Can be packed in the evenings; not all members clean machines after use, can be congested. I've danced through my share of lackluster Zumba and other group fitness classes, and I can tell you that if Dennis is teaching a class, there is no way you will leave without the biggest smile on your face (and hips that probably haven't seen that much shaking action in years). I actually joined this location after Dennis guest-taught at another gym just for him. He's literally that good. So -- not sure about the rest of the gym. It looked fine to me: clean locker rooms, plentiful equipment, cheerful desk staff. But if you're looking for an amazing cardio class, see that you find your way here. read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had with a gym. I read their terms and conditions in detail. I cancelled my membership (in person) in December of 2024. I knew they would bill me again in January, but after that I was not to be charged again. To my dismay I was fraudulently charged $18.40 in February and March. I called to dispute the charge. I also visited the facility 3 times and spoke with the location manager, Kennedy. She assured me my funds would be refunded. Despite having this issue open for two months now, I have yet to get resolution from them, and the lack of communication is irritating. It's not that much money, but they took it from me without my permission. I don't think they want me to walk into their store and steal $36.80, so why do they think it's okay to steal that money from me? Since they can't handle this like professionals, I'm going to my bank to reverse the fraudulent charges. I highly recommend you avoid Fitness Connection at all costs. Crunch Fitness, Planet Fitness, and other gyms in town are way easier to cancel and better gyms. I've had memberships with all of them. Do not ever give Fitness Connection a recurring billing method. Incompetence at its finest. Heads up to everyone going into this gym, feel free to use any of their "premium" amenities cause no one pays for it anyways. They "terminated" my account in March, but then reinstated my account with no authorization from me on the same day. All because they accidentally only charged me $5 a month instead of $10. They terminated me for violating their "terms of service" and I still got charged months after they told me they'd cancel me. When I spoke to their joke of a customer service department, they said they understood that my account was to be cancelled, but no one actually did it so they continued billing anyways. Not a solution, just an admittance to the sheer incompetence of their entire staff. Sign up for the $10 a month promo, stay for the fact that you got no other damn choice cause no one knows how to cancel you. Thanks for nothing to the entire management staff. read more

Bought memberships form Fit Factory in Colleyville; they never completed any kind of welcome communication or reached out about dues or services. Horrible horrible experience for the consumer - but I am sure they were very happy to gain business in an easy fashion - very happy for the revenue but the consumers really did get screwed over in the transaction and Fitness Connection is not interested in resolving disputes related to this situation in an ethical manner. Be are this company has shown its morale compass so just be aware and watch out for yourself. update - further exasperation- I was on the phone did a 30 days cancellation- the agent Laura on the phone stated no further charges then I get an email stating one more charge and can use gym for the next 60 days. Being a member is like any other low cost fitness club membership. Until you try and cancel. I cancelled 2 memberships in March and they only processed one. So I got billed for one membership in April and didn't notice until I got billed again in May. So I went back into the club and spoke with staff who during our conversation, said it was all taken care of. It wasn't. I got billed again in June. So I went back in and was told that the person saw the issue and I would be all set going forward. He said I had no active accounts. I got billed again in July so I went in to tell them to remove my bank account from all accounts so I would not get billed. The ladies looked at my accounts and said they couldn't do anything and I had to call Corp FC. So I called and they said I had to go into the gym physically to take care of the issue. Rather than go in, I called them. They once again assured me that they resolved the issue and I would not get billed. In August, I was billed again. So I called the gym and asked to speak to a Manager and I got Max. He said he found an account that was still active. He said he would make sure that it got cancelled and that he would speak to the manager, Darius. I asked Max if someone could follow up and call me back. He said they would. They didn't. I called back a couple days later and the Asst Manager told me Darius had to take care of this issue and that he was busy but they would have him call me. He never called. Because they now acknowledged that I still had an active account, I figured they would take care of it and someone would let me know about a refund for the months I was billed. Nope. They billed me again in Sept. I called them again and one of the staff said the managers were busy but he could help me. He immediately found the account that I was being billed for and said it was still active. He said he would cancel the account immediately to stop the billing and I could call Corp FC for the refund. He added notes to let them know it was their error. I called Corp FC, which is terrible. Very long wait times and even longer hold times. After over an hour on the phone, I hung up realizing they were not coming back on the line. I got a voicemail later from them saying they would not issue a refund because I just canceled in Sept. I called them the next morning and they said they could not do anything because the club made the errors and they did not document anything in my accounts. All my visits, my phone calls, actually being there to cancel the account, they blamed the club and said that's all. So, I called the gym and actually spoke to Darius. Just like everyone else in this organization, he said he believed me, but there was nothing he could do. He said he just came back to the club because they had to change management. Staff and others there said they had similar issues with other Customers. They all blame others and no one is willing to step up, say we screwed up, and take responsibility. When I told Darius someone needed to take responsibility he just said he wasn't taking responsibility for what previous people did. This poor leadership permeates through this organization. There is too much competition in the market to put up with the way Fitness Connection treats people. Go to Planet Fitness, Crunch Fitness, or any other fitness club, but avoid this organization. read more

I signed up for personal training with the idea I would see if I liked it/the trainer. The contract I signed states that there's a 2 month commitment and one must provide 30 days notice to cancel. However, today about an hour before my training session, I was notified by my trainer he was no longer working there. Since I had already been working out with him, and he knew all about my goals, diet, condition, etc. I decided I wanted to cancel my personal training for now. But I felt discriminated against. So the flyer is a lie, they are very judge mental. They have the "we have so many members we don't care if we run people off" mentality. I've been to other boxing agencies within Austin, Texas but I enjoy this organization the most as the workouts are fast pace, always different, the staff are professional and it's a nice gym. I like coming to a clean gym and this gym is clean. When you first start, the people on the videos aren't facing customers and can be difficult to copy but you'll memorize the poses by the third session. It was better two three years ago I think, lately cables are always busted, half of 4 cycling machines are barely working. There is a room with lots of bikes but that is higher tier and group cycles only. So can not do my triathlon training here. Hello , so I'm a travel nurse here in Austin and when we signed up for the 20$ membership, we specifically asked the associate if there was a contract and he stated no , so we proceeded to sign up . Long story short I wanted to cancel because I get off at 7:15pm from day shift and can't make it to the gym before closing on fri sat and sun and we find out from manager Anthony that the associate that lied to us didn't matter and that we were stuck in the contract no matter what and we had to pay 100$ . This company is lying to people , signing up people for 20$ memberships and not being held accountable for conning people into contracts . This associate also filled my form out online all I did was give my information and verified it was correct.
