Everything started out great, but then little by little we needed to fix things and replace things…read more We didn't know any better at the time, but what a mistake hiring Rhett. We paid him nearly $1,000 and he is still a year later costing us money. For starters he fixed all the pipes around our Hayward Pump and Filter, he used the wrong pipes that don't even fit. Then he used tape and some spray adhesive to "Make it work". A year later and it busted, and it's corroded. We hired an actual Pool company and those repairs alone are over $700. The new pool contractor said it's a miracle the equipment didn't completely explode. Good to know since I have a small child. Rhett also told us we didn't need the Hayward Chlorinator that cost over $600. He removed that and I'm sure sold it to someone. We had black algae at one point and he "forgot" to mention it but wanted to add more chemicals, and cost me more money. I have attached a photo of our equipment and his high quality work. If you want to hire Rhett, do so at your own risk. He has no business touching any equipment as it's clear he hasn't a clue what he's doing. Our equipment is special order, and he went to local stores to find the parts and made do with what he could find. He is also not a licensed pool contractor!!! Should've checked that before hiring him. If you'd like to do the right thing Rhett, Venmo me the money back that we paid you to screw this up. Or at least the money you made off of our chlorinator!

He advised me he would be out Monday around 10 am. I waited until about 1030 and contacted him he stated he was on his way in a few minutes but in his words, "most people just leave gate unlocked and I can call you once I get there and let you know what is going on if you need to leave". I explained I was leaving at 11 and so I did. My husband who was pulling out of garage to head to work at 1230 saw him arrive. He called and advised my seal was out in my booster pump. I asked what the cost to replace would be he said he would get back to me. He also advised he had a regular job which was Mon-Fri from 8-5 and he was doing this on the side. He contacted me a bit later and stated the job would be approximately $115.00. I told him to complete job and leave the invoice I would place check under front mat once I arrived home. At that time he said well I usually want 50% down prior to fixing the item. I explained I wasn't able to do that because I was not in the area. He fixed the pump and text me that it was completed in the evening. He again asked to meet me to get payment. I explained I was in Fresno and was not able to meet. I arrived home at 830 pm wrote the check and placed under mat like I advised him. I went into back yard turned pump on and water poured out. I immediately text him and received no response until next morning at which time I removed check from mat. I advised him I was leaving for work and wasn't going to pay until work was complete. He said he had placed sealant and it was supposed to have set up for 24 hours, he didn't think I would turn it on. I explained I wasn't going to pay for a job unfinished. I went back to pump to see if they had sealed by this time and noticed 2 screws laying on ground. I text him that info and he said well the are extra. I turned back on the pump and more water. I left for work and he said he would be there in between things going on at work (the pool company he works for which is not his own company). He came over and said the seal he had replaced caused the other seal and motor to go bad and that it was very common to do that. He also advised he usually recommends replacing the motor instead of the seals. I asked him why he didn't advise me of that from the start. He never answered. I also asked him what the cost would be he said well he went to a paperless invoice system at the pool supply company so he could get that to me for about $260.00 for the pump. I advised him I would call around and get back to him. I called Leslies it was $329. so I checked Ebay and purchased it for $230.00. I advised Randal and it seemed as if he was upset I didn't go through him. He also asked for his money and I again asked for an invoice for seals. I also asked if he would be willing to cut a deal, due to the repair NEVER working that he had just done. He agreed and I left half of the total amount now due under the mat. He also asked me to write the check in his fiance's name which was odd to me. I did not do that and left the check under the mat for half of the total due. The next day I received a very nasty text advising me that he doesn't let his customers dictate this and that. I explained to him I was willing to pay the other half when the work was complete and who would want to pay the entire amount prior to the work being done? I also asked him once again for an invoice on the seals. I never heard back from him and used another company. I would not use him I believe he didn't buy the seals (he used seals from his company that he works for not this company). STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

I contacted my builder and my builder had Pools Plus fix the spots. Now jump 4 years ahead and I have a crack in the plaster. My builder is out of business and Pools Plus won't honor the 5 year warranty on the plaster even though they were responsible for the work. I called P+ and they were eager to fix the leaks. $2900 later, about 3 months I noticed a smaller leak that caused the water to run in the flower bed. They said to send pictures, so I did. The water in the flower bed did not come out very well in a phone photo. They said send more! I told them I had worked with one of the employees named Milo and since he was very tentative to the follow I thought a simple message to the company would have him come out for a look. No such reply to my request. Now I'm wasting water and wondering if the original price tag was worth it! Star rating of 1. Use at your own risk. Glenn Black, frustrated in Visalia.
