My experience was horrible. The service people are all non-fluent English speakers. I came earlier and they let me in. I expected they would give me erasable writing pads and sharpies. They gave me two sheets of thin papers and two pencils. That was habitually not prepared. The service lady did the routine body check and said something that I did not hear her right. She was inpatient and then started to raise her voice. Then I realized she wanted me to turn around. Dude... I was so embarrassed. The first 10 minutes of the exam was difficult and long case studies. Then out of no where, one of the service guys tapped my shoulder and asked me if I dropped a key. At first, I couldn't understand him. He repeated a few times. I was puzzled, but finally understood him. I told him that I got dropped off for the exam and I didn't drive. Then the guy left me alone. However, that interruption threw me off guard. I made myself answered all questions on time with remaining time to check, but the interruption and unexpected resources did throw me off guard. Prometric Testing Center - Yeayyy !!!! - Tutoring Centers Near Me - Fair Oaks, California

Like some others have mentioned, it's an older testing center, but it gets the job done! Didn't seem like there were signs to designate how to get to the actual test center, but I figured it out from friends. It's on the 2nd floor and there's a sign on the door in the corner. There's two bathrooms near it, but you'll need key access. During COVID, there only letting 3 people wait in line at check in, so the rest of the test takers were standing in the hall. As recommended by my test, we are to arrive 30 minutes before our scheduled test time to ensure that we're checked in, in a timely manner. There were maybe 4-5 people in front of me and it took me 25 minutes before I got checked in. Didn't really expect them to take that long for check-in, so good thing I took their 30 minute recommendation. There was only 1 worker checking everyone in. However, once you get inside to get your locker, there's two testing rooms and 2 people to check you into the rooms. During COVID, they clean bathroom keys after each use, and have you keep your own pen and scratch paper. My test can with a two sheet scratch paper. They also clean the test stations after each use. You're also to eat or drink outside of the testing center...no hanging out around the lockers. If you didn't already know, phones are supposed to be off, in your locker. You're to show your pockets every time you enter the testing room. No watches. They'll check your wrists and ankles each time. They'll have you show them your glasses inside and out, show that you have empty pockets, and have you take your mask off and show them the inside. With that being said, ideally you'd be wearing clothes that have no pockets so you don't have to flip all pockets each time you're re-entering the testing area. Maybe even wearing a T-shirt and shorts/capris if you don't want to push your sleeves up and roll up your pant legs each time either. Finally, there are cameras watching you during your test. You're to raise your hand and get the attention of the check-in person for your room, who will then signal you to leave the room (which they've been quick to respond during my testing day). Be sure to bring your ID and locker key when you leave. This room can get pretty warm, so no need for a million layers. They provide noise canceling headphones, but because people are walking in and out of the room, you may want to bring your own earplugs (they'll have you squeeze your earplugs at check-in to make sure there's nothing in them). Staff are pretty friendly here. Overall, not a bad testing experience. read more

Impossible to get ahold of this testing center. I've called many times and have never been able to get ahold of anyone nor do the prompts help at all, only refer you to the website or other phone numbers with the same exact prompts. Prometric in general is a terrible company with zero customer service. I've called all of their numbers multiple times and can't talk to anyone. I had to schedule an exam through their center and they never sent me a confirmation email. Turns out having a confirmation number is the only way you can confirm you're taking a test there. Alright, I just took the MCAT here this past April 24th. I would say my experience was good. No big mishaps or distractions. I heard from people that there were some issues when they took a test here. For example, the bathrooms didn't work, pencils broke easily, people were making annoying sounds, the industrial ear muffs hurt. Hopefully these things don't happen to you. I was lucky to have a smooth experience and I would say this is not a bad place to take a test like an MCAT or USMLE. Just some pointers if you're taking a test here: Make sure you get good pencils (ones that don't break and are sharpened) Take your breaks and use the restroom on all your breaks It takes like 2 minutes to sign in and out of the testing area so factor that into your break time Don't wear a watch, jewelry, or hats Dress comfortable (I wore a T-shirt with a long sleeve thermal and that was perfect) Try to get there early so you can take your test earlier Bring some gatorade and some bread (or some sort of fruit) Good luck! read more

Took my NBCOT board exams here in Feb 2010. It was a nice testing center as far as they go, lots of security w/ finger printing every time you leave the exam room to go to the bathroom. The chairs are comfortable, room is a good temp at 71ish degrees. Don't trust google maps for how long it will take to get to the location from the fwy, as traffic can change all that. I came to the Prometric Testing Center twice within the last two weeks to take my Federal and State NMLS tests. The building was super easy to find on Primrose Avenue because it's the first set of buildings on Primrose. Once in the parking lot, all buildings are clearly marked, so I easily found that it was the first building on the right (if pulling in from Primrose) and that the entrance is around the corner on the side of the building. Parking is plentiful and I never had any problems finding a spot right outside the door. Once inside the building, take the stairs (or elevator) immediately to your right and go up to the second level. Once there, it will be the first door in the corner clearly labeled with "Prometric Testing Center" and a few signs that only test takers are allowed inside and no cell phone use is allowed inside. The restrooms are located right across the hallway from the testing center, and are available for use at anytime during your test. Those were kept nice and clean as well. The testing center itself is set up with a main lobby, an intake room and two testing centers. When you walk in, you check in at the desk before putting everything you brought with you inside a locker with the exception of your ID, and the locker key. EVERYTHING else needs to be kept inside a locker. I'm usually freezing cold in office buildings, but this one was super comfortable so I found that I didn't even need a sweater. The staff working both times I visited were all super friendly and helpful. Everyone made me feel comfortable and welcome. I would definitely feel comfortable in coming back to Prometric Testing Centers the next time I had to take an exam. read more

I took my GRE here and have no complaints about this place. It was a bit far from where I live but that obviously does not impact my review - it is also the only testing center in the area offering the GRE. Parking is plentiful, I had no problems finding parking whatsoever. When you enter the building the stairs are right there and you walk up them and immediately see the testing room. Clean bathrooms right across from the testing entrance. I walked in and was greeted immediately; you sign in and if you are taking the GRE also have to fill out a form. ID with picture and signature required, and if you are an immigrant like me bring passport or green card as well. You then put all your stuff besides ID and obviously locker key into a locker and sit in a comfortable chair to wait if there are people ahead of you. I was called in after ten minutes and had to sign in again, take a picture, and they check you with a metal wand and you have to pull sleeves and pants up. After that you go take your test! Very quiet, but there are noise canceling headphones if you really want it silent. Good computers and pleasant temperature, I usually get cold easily but I was fine. You are allowed breaks whenever you need it, but I sat through the entire test without a problem. Clean center with very friendly staff. I did not mind taking my test here! read more

So, by the time I'm done, I will have completed over half a dozen tests at this location. That being said, it's a little unnerving that the administrators here are starting to recognize me [they've stopped asking, "have you been here before?"]. That being said, it is a good testing facility. It has moved from its old location at Fair Oaks and Madison to a spot in a second floor office in a professional building, about a mile away. There are two testing rooms - a smaller room on the left, and a larger room on the right. There is also a private room for problem test takers - in case someone is being so disruptive to others that they need to be segregated, or for any other reason. The facility has a number of lockers with locks. Be prepared to dump everything from your pockets - lint, toothpicks, you name it. Put whatever you want to see after the test in a locker. You will be scanned with a metal detection wand. If you are cold, the facility has loaner jackets. I've been going in shorts, t-shirt, and sandals, since the testing rooms are kept at a pleasant 71 degrees. If you wear long pants, you'll need to pull them up to show you aren't trying to sneak in anything in your socks. You can take a locker key and your ID into the testing room with you. Otherwise, depending on the test, you will be given scratch paper and pencils or an erasable glossy calculation sheet. If you're like me, you don't like hearing noises when you test - so, on the plus side, each testing station has a number of noise cancelling ear muffs. Who knows how often they get cleaned [but I haven't developed head lice yet]. Don't use your cell phone in the lobby [they don't like that]. If you have to make a call, do it before your test, in the corridor outside. Bathrooms are directly outside the office door. read more

Just like the previous reviewer, my experience here is in regards to taking the MCAT. I searched far and wide for more info about the logistics and details about the testing center, but couldn't find anything so I figured I'd mention some things here. Temperature: 71 degrees. They post inside the center that they maintain the temperature at 71 degrees so you should dress accordingly. For me this meant wearing a long-sleeved shirt, a track jacket, and sweat pants, but I saw others wearing shorts and a t-shirt. I don't know how they were doing in there, but gauge based on your temperature needs. FYI: you cannot take off your sweater while in the testing room or else they will ask you to put it away in one of the lockers. Lockers: plenty of free lockers to use. They have locks and lockers available that can easily hold a standard-sized backpack and more. Most people don't seem to bring this much (I brought a small plastic bag of stuff), but they are available. Materials: you cannot bring anything into the testing room except for your ID card and your locker key. They ask you to turn your pockets inside out each time you attempt to enter the room. If you need tissue, you can ask for some of theirs, but you cannot bring your own in. Other people: well, it's just like taking a test with a bunch of other people around. You are in your own cubicle so really you aren't gonna see anyone else unless if you lean back in your chair and turn your head. In terms of noise and what not, it's just like any other test. Some people will breathe hard, their stomachs will growl, they will make stretching noises, etc. What are you gonna do. The provide industrial ear muffs, but as mentioned in the other review, they are definitely not the most comfortable things to wear. Alright, that's all I can remember that might be useful. The staff at this location are by far kinder than the ones at the San Francisco location! Testing centers in general are just depressing. But this one makes me feel more comfortable before I start taking a test that zaps the life out of me.... It's a little hard to find this place because it's not easily recognizable from the street. And then when you find the parking lot, and find your parking spot, the main entry is even more hidden... I've been here twice and both times I backtracked because I thought I had missed the entry. But I didn't... it's just hidden. The entry "lobby" is this tiny little oddly shaped room with stairs immediately to your left. Go up that stair, follow the weird little corridor, and Prometric is straight ahead. Bathrooms are to your right. I've tested here in last September when it was still pretty warm, and in December. They keep the testing rooms a pretty comfortable temperature - no jacket or sweater needed. Word of warning: whatever you are wearing going in to the room must stay on your person at all times. If you have a sweater, any sort of jewelery, or even a hair tie, you cannot take it off your person. So plan ahead. read more

No testing center can have 5 stars....because it's a testing center, and testing centers have all kinds of freakish and demeaning rules to prevent cheating. This center was bettter than most: -they called the day before to answer any questions ( that was super nice) -registration was fast -they have lockers to store stuff -staff laughed and joked...got that the rules are freakish, and were even somewhat apologetic. -no finger or hand print -easy parking -clean -magazines in the waiting area So yes, there's the TSA-like wand search thing, and cameras filming you while you test ( oooh, there's some exciting video!) The office is pretty old, but I'm glad they kept it clean. The lady who helped me get settled was nice even though she sounds kind of uptight, she's nice. I like how they do have an office culture there since I could see how it can get pretty boring. I forgot how many slots were there, but there are 2 rooms. I had an appointment ofc, but I got a call 2 days before my appointment and they told me that I could come anytime between 8-11:30am. My appointment is at 11:30am. I suggest coming there 30 mins earlier because there were certain procedures that need to be taken care of. They have noise canceling headphones if you want to take your test in peace. I preferred the silence but occasional keyboard or click sounds from other test takers though. The keyboards and monitors were pretty clean and not grimy. I took a part of the CPA exam so there were 3 testlets. I took a break after the 2nd testlet and had to sign out with them first before going to the bathroom. Went back and had to sign in again. This is for security purposes I guess. I would go back to this testing center. read more

I just took my OAT yesterday at this location. I rushed in, out of breath, at 12:45 on the dot, which was my test appointment time, and the lady at the front desk helped calm me down and assure me that I wasn't late and would be able to take my test. She made me feel so much better. Since you're not allowed to remove any clothing once you're inside the testing room, I left my sweater outside on their coat rack. They keep it at 71 degrees, but apparently it's closer to 73 if the room is full. My testing procedure: fingerprint, photo, two photo IDs, metal detector, pulled my pockets out, stuck my hands in my back pockets. And everyone had a camera aimed at their cubicle from above. My computer screen was kind of weird, in that the words were a little blurry. Turned out I just needed to lower the screen, which I figured out after about 20 minutes. The OAT provides 2 "whiteboards" (that are actually pink laminated sheets) that you're supposed to trade in for new boards every time you finish using them, while the test is still running. So I rushed outside during my test, but the lady at the check-in/out desk was in conversation with someone else that worked there, and sort of just glanced at me. I had to interrupt her to ask for new boards...by the time I got to the last section, I ended up just using the side of my (sweaty) hand to smudge the old calculations and write over them. All in all, it was a good test experience! read more

This is the only testing center I have ever gone to (I think) but it definitely is a great one. Employees are friendly and accommodating despite all the hooplah and do their best not to add to any anxiety despite how strict it is. I was able to do a walkthrough of the experience for 25.00 so I knew what to expect and they ask you each time, if you've been there before, so it's pretty efficient. It's also comfortable enough (well considering*) and clean There was one time I went when the air conditioner was down however and I smelt something burning for a bit but they had fans running the whole time so it wasn't too bad. Still can't wait for the day I never have to come again though. :) read more

The staff was very professional and courteous! When I first arrived around noon to take the GRE, the woman at the front was assisting a student who had some complications with his exam reservation. She offered him a direct phone number to the testing manager's support line and even gave him some talking points on how to expedite the process. To piggy back on what the other reviewers said, the room is perfect temperature. I wore sweats and a hoodie and was comfortable the whole time. Also, they are not kidding around with following the rules; I had to resign my signature because it did not match lol. Don't try anything funny either because they'll catch you! I highly recommend that you eat well before your exam and bring snacks! They allow you to store it in your temporary locker and you can consume them on during your break(s). read more

The older lady on Saturday May 18th in Fresno was very rude. She treated my son like a criminal. ' Hands up, pockets out, turn around...' would have been helpful to explain and speak nicely. Although the testing center looks old, it is functional for all your testing needs. I highly commend the staff for making test day so easy and seamless! The lovely lady at the front desk answered all my questions easily about the location when I called, and even called the day before my exam to confirm my test date and time, which I appreciated. There is plenty of free parking. There are bathrooms outside in the hallway and plenty of chairs and lockers inside the testing office. The computers work fine. Just be sure to wear the noise canceling headphones or bring your own ear plugs because other test takers will be typing away noisily for their exams. Checking in and checking out was easy, and the staff prioritize you checking back into the exam before anyone else to make sure you get back to your exam in time after breaks. I attended a 12:30 test session at the Prometric test center in Fair Oaks, California on 11/16/2013. Upon my arrival half an hour prior to the appointment time, there were no seats available or space to sit in the test center waiting area, and so I was required to stand. Many testers arrived after myself and were forced to stand as well, and by the last few there were not even enough storage lockers available for the testers. Multiple testers expressed concern, but the staff member at the desk expressed zero interest and easily grew aggravated with questions. This would not have been a major issue had we not been forced to wait 2 hours after the appointment time before the administrators brought us in to the testing room. Multiple times while I took the test, an administrator came over to the test station next to mine and caused shaking severe enough to physically move my monitor and keyboard on the opposite side of the divider. During a timed exam where testers frequently run out of time, having the testing center staff cause distractions is unacceptable. In addition, when I returned from my break I was required to wait several minutes over my allotted break time, eating into my testing time and creating unnecessary stress. My ability and the ability of the other testers to confidently perform on an exam (one of the few attributes necessary for a test center) was not only interfered with, but directly compromised by the test center staff. As a result, I feel that both my testing fees and my day were wasted. If you want a test center where you can perform to the best of your abilities, do yourself a favor and avoid this test facility at all costs. Completely appalling. read more

They definitely made the whole environment less stressful especially for someone like me who was so nervous about the test. 100% recommend this place for those who wanna take and pass whatever test they have to take! read more

This is my second time at a prometric center. I had a 2 days test in this center first day was a whole 8 hours long and I can say it has been really good for me. The place is really clean. AC is set to around 25 C. Staff are amazing, helpful and funny. They really made the whole experience lot easier. Very frustrated with this company/testing center. Why are there no other choices? There is only 1 day available in the entire month of November to take the test. I've managed through weeks of testing/studying/applying for licenses. The process is horrendously long and then I have to wait a month to take the test? When you call the center they refer you to the 800 number, then you are provided with 5 minutes of recorded answers to questions that you don't have (I guess that's more convenient for them). The person who answers the phone sounds like they're half asleep and are essentially no help. So my overall opinion is that this testing center is delaying my licensing by a month. I took my Enrolled Agent exam (EA) back in 2009. Prometric has since moved to a new location on 5330 Primrose. The test facility is accurate in align with the other reviews. Be prepared for at least long sleeve shirt of some type. As the reviews say, you are NOT allowed outstide materials of any sort, i.e, paper, pencils, nothing at all. Even your jacket if removed must be stored in a locker. Also, the staff monitor frequently in the test areas. DO NOT try anything funny. The test is real for whatever you take. I took the EA and passed all parts one time each. It was stressful and my suggestion, plan accordingly. Eat hearty before you go bc it may be a few hours before you are done. I went by 1pm on all occasions, so I had a big breakfast and was done with my exams all by 3:30 or 4pm. Then I eat afterwards.
