Our review was erased twice from Starlight K9's Facebook group so I feel the need to write it here…read morewhere maybe it won't be erased .... unfortunately leaving my dog here for two weeks while I went on vacation WAS NOT an enjoyable one. I read the reviews and thought this place seemed great at first, every other place was booked up so I didn't have many options. I tried to book a flight to bring my girl with me however it was during the Christmas season so the airlines wouldn't let me take her along. I felt a little nervous about dropping her off as I witnessed another dog trying to hump my 10 month old pup, but the staff assured me the dogs were always watched.... The kennels did look clean HOWEVER some downfalls 1) all the dogs are allowed to run around together big, small, medium, giant, all of them can run a far ways because the kennel does own a very large piece of land ... I thought this would be okay however when I picked up my dog there was only one lady working, she was at the desk helping me for a good 20mins, she was the only person working while the other dogs were left outside to run along together, I see this as an issue BECAUSE my dog came home with scratches all over her face and body ... she also had a cut inside her ear, an eye infection, and a bandage around her paw from apperantly digging it in the snow (possibly true but seems far fetched as it never happens at home). Her dog bed came home with only the shell, the whole inside pillow was gone (however the outside was completely untouched and intact). None of her toys came back including the expensive Kong ones. She was completely crazy when I picked her up and acting like a complete savage for weeks later because the dogs are allowed to do whatever they want. All of these didn't seem that bad however, the one thing that really disturbed me is that they tried to charge me $4 for every meal for 10 days (I had dropped off food for my dog but they ran out, I had discussed with them that if she ran out I would have someone drop off more food, they agreed and said they would call, yet when I came to pick her up I was given a bill for her meals). Anyways, they switched her to the brand of food that they feed the animals (the food they highly promote might I add) which was Pedigree ... my dogs skin was flaky and dry when I got her back ... I tried to buy the same bag at 3 different pet stores (because I didn't want to switch her without mixing her food) where I was told blatantly by the pet store staff "WE DON'T SELL THAT GARBAGE" or "That's McDonald's for dogs" or "Pedigree is pretty much candy for dogs" ... I don't understand how a kennel can promote this brand ?? Also my dog was there for over 2 weeks and she stank and had not had a bath of any sorts (apperantly it's an extra expense I was not made aware of). The worst part of the whole experience is that my spouse tried to go there and talk to them about our situation and they were completely RUDE and unhelpful! I guess there was a reason every other kennel from Chilliwack to Abbotsford was booked up but this one was not. Dogs should be placed with like minded dogs in the same size range not all of the dogs left outside to wrestle together.... I'll cancel my trip before I ever leave my dog here again. Sorry Starlight K9 it's two thumbs down from us. Maybe if you would have been slightly less rude to us and a little more compassionate for the well being of my dog then I wouldn't need to go out of my way to warn people of your kennel. And you could probably step it up a few notches on the customer service department and with your staff professionalism while your at it.

We left our English Mastiff under their care for two days and I'm quite certain she was left alone and locked up a majority of the time. Our puppy came back acting quite differently then after any other time she has spent under care. As well, she completely chewed her bed to pieces which is something she has never done before or since. To top it off, we left her with a whole bag of toys and treats and when we returned to pick her up the care giver had no idea what had happened to everything that we left. When questioned about what happened while she was in their care, we were told to "go to hell" among many other profanities. If you need pet care in Chilliwack I very highly recommend Fairfield Kennels! Our dog has been cared for amazingly there and the care givers are exceptional and very professional!

He is an indoor dog that was very ill for over 2 weeks Thankfully, he is fully vaccinated and his illness was shorted because of it.

I travel a lot so life with two dogs isn't so easy when I am away from home…read more My in-laws usually put their pup at black walnut kennel when they are away on cruises and they take a great care of my in-law's dog so I decided to drop off my two little monsters there. The kennel itself is very clean and the staff there are extremely professional/pleasant. My two dogs love it there so much that they just run off into the facility when I drop them off there. They don't even want to say bye to their human mama. I drive all the ways from New Westminster to drop off my pups here but it's worth it because I know that they are in safe hands.

I am absolutely appalled at the job she did on my friend's beautiful double-coated Shih Tzu.We…read moredropped her off for some de-matting and a shave as she had puppies for 8 weeks and wouldn't let anyone brush her or take her from her puppies. She was in rough shape, but we trusted this groomer to do her best and left this fur baby in her hands. She nicked her multiple times all over her body and she has razor burns and scrapes on her neck, bottom, tail, chest and back, and left the hair on her feet long and extremely uneven. She mentioned she was leaving to go camping that day so was obviously in a rush. Then she went on to say she was neglected? We paid $60 for this poor baby to be tortured for 3 hrs. Obviously an attempt to cover up her tracks as she knew she had hurt this poor dog all over her body, she came home shaking and needed to see the vet the next day for some cream too treat her razor burns. Please DO NOT take your fur baby's there, please take them to someone more kind and nurturing as grooming should be a positive experience for any animal. She is absolutley rude and will abuse your fur baby
