Neal Rose, the owner, never provided an official quote for my build and solicited me to provide upfront costs on a credit card to do preliminary excavation. I get the feeling this is an excavator trying to become a builder. He provided references but all three turned out to be business associates that raved about him. He could not provide addresses that I could visit to see his work. He only provided pictures in text messages. He did visit the site with an excavator on his own nickel "to see if there were large rocks in the ground". That resulted in two six foot deep holes on my lot that will have to be backfilled. Then suddenly when I suggested we use a local excavator to do some preliminary clearing to achieve a location for the house (instead of giving him $18,000 on a credit card) he immediately quit the project via a text message. Didn't have the guts to talk about it on the phone I guess. Home planners beware.

I tried Yelp and got several replies. Steve called on a Sunday and was available on short notice. He showed up exactly at the scheduled time. He was in and out in three hours for a fraction of the cost. Did a nice job. "Didn't break nuttin', didn't steal nuttin', didn't lose nuttin." :-) Didn't "fix" anything that didn't need fixin'.
