Even seen some elk, coyotes, and deer. The lodge was great, clean rooms, comfy beds. Great food with a big breakfast, big lunch, a sandwich for the blind for supper, and soup or stew once we got back after dark. Rick and his guide Beau were awesome. A wealth of knowledge and expertise. Was a blast picking their brains and learning about the region we were hunting. As an avid hunter, this is what I want in an outfitter. They set you up for success. Its up to you to seal the deal. And its a hunting outfitter, not a guarantee. People don't seem to understand that. If you want to be guaranteed an animal, then you need to go to a high fence game farm and buy your animal. This is a great lodge in the backcountry of Idaho. We toured around the area and over to Elk City where I used to live and work. Our stay at Silver Spur was really excellent. Rick and Debbie really took great care of us. Our room was comfortable and the food was really great. Anything we needed they took care of for us and we didn't want for anything during our stay. The guides who took us on our trail ride were all very good and we had a wonderful time. Rick, Debbie and their workers were all really great and we would definitely come back and stay again.

I enjoy them more than Hilton-y places that will cook a custom omelette in front of you, but you cannot make rent when you get home. This one is every bit as good as others in its class but more expensive, about 40% on average. It does have a few things cheaper alternatives may not. A clean working outdoor pool is one of them. The kids I saw loved it. Complaints made by others are mostly valid but relatively minor. Also very patriotic decor no doubt but in a good way. Nothing pushy or confrontational. Front Desk help I dealt with was professional. Nearby sister location is an unusually posh Super 8, also generally more expensive than its peers.

In the morning, they offered us some Covid-friendly breakfast packs, which were perfect for taking on the road with us. Strong, delicious coffee is always a plus, and theirs was great! This is not your luxury 5* rating but as a motel, surrounded by beautiful scenery, it deserves a 5*…read morerating. Based on other reviews, we chose this motel & we will most certainly be back but next time for a few days to explore the area, not just a one night passing thru visit. The grounds are immaculate with plenty of parking space for vehicles towing trailers or large motorcycle groups, it has a sturdy gravel topping, good for snow & dust free. They hold events here sometimes so they have a large patio area with a stage, firepit & "Roadhouse Bar", see pic. There are chickens roaming the motel area, there were little chicks while we were there. The owner, Scott, & his wife, are extremely friendly & they have owned this property for 18 years so they are a wealth of knowledge. The rooms appear to have been recently renovated & are roomy & extremely clean! Each room has a table & chair set inside & outside. We were welcomed, upon check-in, with a choice of fresh iced tea, or a beer, several brands & a cookie. Lastly, it is a very walkable little town & there are restaurants & stores within walking distance & a beautiful park across the street. We really enjoyed our stay!

The welcome we received from the motel owners was so warm and the room was great - updated, large, clean and accessible. Situated under many large trees that provided a wonderful sitting area outside of our room. The town was in a festive mood and full of many more than their normal 395 citizens. I would stay at the Big Iron again anytime! We loved it!

The front desk staff are great. I'd come here again anytime. Only small issue: the restaurant next door is under renovation and it's supposed to be the best place in town. I'll have to try it on my next visit.
