I worked with Dr Gracie for several months for a torn tendon in my hip area. She definitely knows her stuff. Every time I left there I felt great! A bit disappointed in the experience. I felt my PT was more interested in his laptop during our sessions then our actual regimen. I noticed other PTs as well had their heads buried in the computers. Also doesn't help the front desk is via webcam. read more

I've dealt with pain in my arm for nearly a decade. It was initially a long mis-diagnosed mass growing in my forearm which was removed about 4 years ago. I didn't make it a full year post-op before the pain came back terribly strong. After a few weeks in traditional PT, I was told to go back to my doctor. My ortho doc didn't want to do another surgery, just pain management. I had inflamed scar tissue and overwhelmed nerves. It was painful to even touch my arm, I could not wash dishes, ride my bicycle, or do much of anything that involved gripping or rotation of my forearm. After having two car accidents, 2 children, and spending a few years in grad school hunched over books and computers, my back, shoulders and neck were in poor shape. I had seen chiropractors, and taken medication, but the relief was only temporary. I was at a breaking point when I couldn't even give my young children a bath because leaning over the bath tub had me in so much pain I would cry. I decided to visit Dr. Jon for physical therapy treatments. He was very professional, and spent a lot of time really learning about my situation. I never felt rushed, I felt like he really cared about my personal story, and my pain. He did several stretches and diagnostics to see exactly what was bothering me. I really felt like he took the information from my injury, and his assessment of my condition to formulate a specific and personal plan just for me. I immediately noticed a difference after my first session. Through series of stretches and exercises I was getting the results I wanted. Dr. Jon always explained what he was doing, and why he was doing it. He helped me understand my body, and the science behind the therapy, which was really cool. I felt confident in his plan because he was so knowledgeable. He gave me some exercises to do at home to help my recovery. I feel that he was very honest about my treatment plan, never pushy, or making me return if it wasn't necessary. I visited Protailored Physical Therapy (PtPT) for a shoulder problem (a rotator cuff injury I'd tried to self-heal for a year). I'll summarize my experience -- Amazing! If you're looking for a GREAT Physical Therapist, go see Dr. Evans at Protailored Physical Therapy. Note: I'm a recent patient, not being compensated in any way for my review. I just thought I should say that because my review might sound like a paid advertisement. But, I just HAD to write a review so I can help others find the healing I've found. MY STORY: I tried to exercise my shoulder problems away for about 1 year. I had somehow injured or strained my shoulder (although I have no idea how) and thought I could fix it at the gym myself. I made some progress on my own, but plateaued and couldn't get rid of all the pain. (Lesson 1 to self: Go in earlier - I could have been all better in weeks versus months had I visited PtPT sooner.) Turns out, many of the exercises I was doing were not best for healing my injury. And, in all that time, I was actually finding ways to compensate for my pain, which wasn't true healing. When I showed up at PtPT, Dr. Evans did a thorough assessment of my issues and asked a lot of good questions. I never felt judged for my year of self-therapy. He just dove in with a positive attitude ready to help. My first treatment Dr. Evans started with is called "dry needling" (sounds worse than it is.) :-) This wasn't a mandatory treatment; Dr. Evans simply explained my options and allowed me to move forward with what I felt most comfortable with. Now, I'm no doctor, but as best I can explain it, it's a technique sort of like acupuncture, but it is targeted and administered in specific ways to increase circulation, release knots, etc. to bring about healing. You don't feel the needle at all (really, you don't) but he then uses the needle to target specific areas in the muscle/tendon. That part isn't too fun (but bearable). But the results were really amazing. After my 1st visit I'd say I noticed a 50% improvement in my shoulder pain. Dr. Evans used this technique a couple more times over the coming weeks. Most of my other visits centered around other techniques (scrapping, stretches, targeted massage, etc., and exercises.) Dr. Evans gave me a range of exercises to begin at home. Each week he would assess and change exercises to target different things my shoulder needed. I found ENORMOUS improvement through these exercises. BOTTOM LINE: I've now finished treatment with Dr. Evans. And after going to about 8 visits, my pain improved 95%, mobility improved 95%, and strength is returning as I'm compensating less for shoulder weakness. The remaining 5% will come with the ongoing exercises Dr. Evans has me doing over the next few weeks. I'm so, so happy with my results and my experience with PtPT. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: From the time I walked in the door, I was greeted by a friendly smile and a welcoming environment. And, at each visit Dr. Evans took time to listen to me and 'tailored' my treatment to my needs, abilities, etc. (The business name fits.) Here's what you'll find when you come to PtPT: 1. Friendly, relaxed environment 2. No wait (I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes to see Dr. Evans) 3. Individual one-on-one attention 4. Dr. Evans has an obvious passion for PT and genuine concern for his patients 5. Did you catch #4? He's a Dr. He has a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. How many PTs can say that? He knows his stuff. 6. He doesn't push treatments or drugs and was open to working with my desire to use natural anti-inflammatories vs other medications. 7. Dr. Evans listens and answers any questions at whatever level of detail you like. 8. And last and most important, his techniques get results. Great Job, PtPT! I have seen Dr. Evans for two problems. I was scheduled to have surgery on my shoulder for a torn labrum, but after some time with Dr. Evans, my shoulder was feeling better and I decided not to have surgery, and instead continued PT. My shoulder now feels as good as it ever has! So glad I didn't go through with surgery. My second time seeing Dr. Evans was for re-hab following endoscopic surgery on my knee. By the end of my therapy, my knee was feeling great and I was back to working out like I was before I injured my knee. I had been having serious back pain with no idea what the trigger was, so after a couple weeks without anything getting better I finally sought out care and decided to give Jon at Protailored Physical Therapy a try. I have always been in the camp of "rest heals all wounds," so I'll be the first to admit I wasn't sure what to expect. At that point though I knew I needed to do something more than just "rest." When I made my appointment and went in for treatment, they were super friendly in a very genuine kind of way that made me feel very comfortable. After explaining my situation and source of pain, Jon went to work. I really liked that as he stretched me out, he explained the science behind how strain on one part of our body can trigger pain in a completely different part of our body. His passion for what he does is very evident. As parts of my body were essentially contorted in different ways, Jon was very attentive and continued to ask questions about what I was feeling. By the time my session was complete, I was shocked at how much better my back already felt. Jon gave me some additional stretches I could do at home to continue improving. I love how honest he was about what I needed to do to get better, and he was not pushy at all about me needing to come back for a follow-up treatment. I am happy to report that my back pain went away pretty quickly after that! Getting older is not fun, and along with that comes more aches and pains. When I was first introduced to Dr. Jon I was happy to see he is was a kind and pleasant man. He was knowledgeable in his field and explained to me what was going on in my body and how he could help me and I could help myself. After a couple of treatments along with home exercise my situation was on the mend. I have come back to Dr. Jon when I needed his help and he always explains what he was doing and why.
