When I ordered my new Tesla, I knew that I wanted to protect the paint with a PPF. I spent an entire day visiting different installers, from the bigger names (with multiple locations in the country) to premium car detail shops, to smaller shops like Protect-A-Shield. Protect-A-Shield was an afterthought for me. After visiting shops recommended by friends and internet groups, I wanted to exhaust options so called Matt the owner. I stopped by and chatted with him and saw his operation. Compared to the others, it was on a different level. His team was impeccable in their detail and attention to quality. The shop was spotless, and Matt was eager to show me how he did PPF wrapping which left few exposed edges and blended seamlessly into the paint. In his shop were Lamborghinis, Bentleys, and Teslas. He was in a class of his own. Protect-A-Shield was not the cheapest option nor the most expensive. But for the quality it was definitely worth it. When my Model S arrived at the dealer, I picked it up and drove it over. Matt found some serious paint defects and worked with me to get them repaired. He provides better service than I even expected. Now that my car is done, Matt is now frosting the windows of my office. I cannot recommend him and his team enough. read more

In 2011 Matt did the clear bra on my Duramax, in '15 did the bra plus tint on my town car. Ten days ago I took my Lexus RX for ceramic coat, tint and full frontal bra. After finishing talking with Matt about what you want done, you go away knowing you (and your car) are in good hands. He is friendly, courteous and most knowledgeable. His shop is immaculate and he takes all precautions in these crazy covid-19 times. I never think about price shopping for these services when it comes to my cars. I go with someone I know and trust. The RX turned out like everything I expected, you can't tell where the edge of the clear bra is, because now it is rolled under where possible. Tint lowered the temp inside the car big-time. Recently got my car tinted with 20% Pentagon tint and being in AZ I have gotten use to getting into my car and it feeling like an oven. With the 110+ plus temperatures we have been having I don't have to worry about parking under shade anymore. I go through cars about once a year or so. I've known Matt since around 2003. Do the math and they have done a ton of my cars for me. Black, white, silver, gray, blue. I have never considered shopping the competition because these guys use the best product and stand behind their work. I think over 15 years, I damaged one of my hood pieces, due to my own stupidity. Matt actually stopped by my house on the way home from work and fixed it, same day. If you are questioning if it's worth the cost, it absolutely is. Washing/waxing/bug removal is easier. It protects against scratches and swirl marks. I had a RAKE land on my hood once and I thought my car was doomed. It landed completely on the bra and there was zero damage or tears to the cover. I wrecked a Nissan Frontier in 2008 (and materials have long improved since then). The front end had half coverage on the hood. The damage from the tree I hit destroyed the paint behind the bra, but the bra completely protected the front end from any damage. These guys are good and they know what they are doing. They are my first call after I make a car purchase. They've come a long way from the days of mobile tech/working out of their house and I trust them implicitly. read more

Matt recently installed the paint protection film on our 2021 Ford F-150 Lariat. This is the second vehicle we've had him do and are very pleased. We had the front section of the hood, fenders, headlights, fog lights, side mirrors, grill and bumper done. Part of its grill is matte black and he even put a matte film on that section to maintain the look. A top notch installation. Where to begin... I purchased a 2021 Audi A8, since I used Protect-a-shield 3 times before this current time, I thought I would use them again, since I had already built a relationship with them. Before this, they had done a great job and were super easy to work with. They recently changed their name to RPM and with the change they raised their prices, lowered their quality and have become mismanaged. I never leave reviews but need to warn others before they take their high end cars to this establishment. I dropped my car off to get tint and a front bumper clear bra, I get a call around 5 saying my car won't be done and I would have to pick it up in the morning, I told them I couldn't do that due to meetings I had to be at. I show up only to wait till 7pm to get my car. The reason my car was late was, they had to polish another car and they couldn't do both at once. This appointment was set for over a week, so it's not like they didn't know I was coming, I had paid a deposit and everything! I evaluated the job as best I could, it was almost dark and had a event I needed to get to. I got home parked the car until the next day. After my morning meetings I went out to check my car and give it a once over, only to see melted glass and plastic where they were using a blow torch to set the tint. How do I know they did that you ask? I saw them using it on my car while I was waiting, I was told it helps speed the process up. Once I noticed this I drove to Audi to show the tech and get a quote started on what the cost would be to fix it, once I returned to RPM they basically told me they couldn't get me a answer cause the owners weren't around, then I was asked if I knew how tint was applied (which was condescending and obviously ridiculous since I was a returning customer) and they needed the blow torch to "set" the tint. For a $1700 window tint and front bumper clear bra this is unacceptable. This is something you would see from a Craig's list window tinter, not a company that parades themselves as professional and "top of the line" In the attached photos you can see the melted plastic from the front pillar as well as the melted panorama roof glass. The Audi tech knew right away when I told him that I just got the window tinted. A $1700 tint job with $3200 worth of damage. Stay away from this business, there is plenty of other tint companies that will not treat you with this amount of unprofessionalism. read more

I was in my garage cleaning my car off this morning and realized this review is about five months overdue. Sorry, Matt..... Matt wrapped the entire front end of my 2016 M3 about three weeks after I picked it up last August. My only regret is that I didn't take it to him sooner. Arizona roads are brutal as anyone who lives here knows. I spoke with several other installers before making the decision, and my number one priority in this process was the quality of the installation. All these guys use pretty much the same films so that was not too important. I will say however that Matt was thoughtful enough to consider my needs and actually recommended a less expensive film than what I originally inquired about. The installation is absolutely top notch, and I'm here to tell you that I am not easy to please (which I'm sure Matt would attest to). I take all things related to my cars rather seriously, particularly this one. I did have a defect in the film on one of the front fenders that I noticed several weeks after installation and Matt agreed to replace it without hesitation. That's very important too because this type of work is more of an art form than a science, and flaws and defects are a reality. The fact that Matt was so easy to work with says a lot about his level of customer service. Since then I've also spoken with Matt about replacing the film on the front bumper due to some unforeseen damage (I must have hit a boulder or something, plus I'm very anal retentive about this car) and he agreed to do it for me at what I think is a very reasonable price. Again, excellent customer service which I value a lot. Finally, I just want to mention what a clean and professional looking operation Matt runs. This is also something that gives me a lot of peace of mind. At the end of the day it's about the quality of work, but walking into his shop you can tell immediately that he takes his work seriously.
