Had 2 commodes rebuilt. The plastic guts don't last but a couple of years, so they need to be replaced every few years. Took the Tec less than an hour to replace. I'm in a condo and you're not allowed to do your own work. If you have a leak, you're responsible for any damage to any other units also. read more

Prout's replaced installed a water heater for my condo on Marco Island 3 years ago. In October water was found in the drain pan. Prout's came out and examined the heater twice, confirmed that it was leaking and told me they would replace the heater under warranty. I called back in Nov. when I did not receive a bill for the labor to check on the status and found out that they did not replace the unit. Over the last six weeks I have found water in the drain pan and Prout's has refused to change the water heater. They said it wasn't leaking and the water is not from the water heater. They are frustrating to deal with and don't follow up when they say they will. read more

Prout's replaced a water heater for me in 2015. The installation couldn't have gone better - I was thoroughly pleased. BUT, I sold my condo last week and during the process, my attorney came to learn that the work permit with the city had never been closed. The Prout's office was completely unresponsive, after several calls. I finally had to go to the Marco Island Building Department and pay the inspection fee out of my own pocket in order to get the permit closed. Seven years later! If you use Prout's, make certain that they close the permit. The woman at the city told me that they have 130 open permits from 2015. read more

I used the same plumber for 30 years before moving to Marco Island. We had Prouts Plumbing in this morning. They did a long list of repairs and a few redos of previous projects done by the 3 other plumbers we used here the past 7 years. I have been using Prout's plumbing for years. However, I will NEVER use them again. In the past 5 years I have had to have my hot water heater replaced 3 times! Once in September 2011, a second time in February, 2014 and this third time in December 2015. That's 3 water heaters over the course of 51 months. I think that is totally unacceptable. There is no reason that a water heater should only last 2 years. I believe that they are using defective water heaters or that their installers are installing them improperly. In any case, I am very disappointed in the fact that they were not willing to make any adjustments to my bill and that they did not think it was unusual. The water heaters were under warranty but it still cost me over $400 each time to replace the defective water heaters Everywhere I have investigated, it has stated that the average life of a hot water heater is 7 years. We have a whole house water purification system so there is no mineral build-up either. We have a whole house surge protector, so there are no power surges responsible for the failed water heaters. We have used Prout's for 2 bathroom renovations and for all of our other plumbing needs since we moved to Marco. I will not use their services again based upon this experience read more

This is the most efficient and professional plumbing company on Marco Island. We have been 35 year customers and we have NEVER been let down in a plumbing emergency . Cindy is very considerate and polite with scheduling and follow through . We have found Prouts to have high standards; and they are an HONEST company !!! I contacted them to ask about their charges. They advised they charged $85.00/hour. Based on this information, I scheduled an appointment. The plumber spent an hour and five minutes at my house. A few days later I received a bill for two hours of work. When I called, they said the bill time starts from the time the plumber leaves his last job. Hence in my case, it took the plumber 10 minutes to get to my house, and since the job went over by five minutes they charged the additional 15 minutes as an additional hour. This pricing structure, including the traveling time, should have been explained upfront when I inquired about the billing rates. I find this lack of transparency on their part unprofessional. Consequently, they have lost a customer. read more

Really bad experience. We had two new toilets installed in October 2017 costing a few thousand dollars with installation. Within a year the toilet in the hallway leaked (even with us being absentee owners, being in NY 90% of the year.) I called Prout's to complain and they told me they would look into whether the issue was covered by the warranty. The repair was completed 1 yr and 3 days from the date of installation. I was told they would call me back (which they never did) Instead I received a bill in the mail for full installation costs and parts totaling $162 on January 14, 2019. I called to complain and they told me there is nothing they can do and its kind of like a toy breaking. I was appalled. In my opinion the toilet was never installed correctly which caused the leak. As stated above we don't live in the condo 90% of the year so the toilet was hardly used. Not a good customer experience at all. I would not recommend this plumber for anything. read more
