I used the restroom while waiting. When I did see the technician I'm told that I must have a full bladder to do this procedure so now I'm told to drink 2 large glasses of water and wait Again. No one tells me it's going to be an hour before my bladder is 'full' so now I'm waiting an additional hour on top of the 40 I've already waited. When I asked why no one let me know about The full bladder needed I was told there was a voicemail left and I should have gotten that. They said I should also know which test I'm getting...now mind you no one bothered to circle the test I was getting on the paper so that I would Know. I said I understand but I never received the voicemail only an email which I used to confirm my 10:05 AM appointment. I said that it would have been nice to mention when checking in. The way I was treated by the receptionists is not what I expect from a professional office taking my money for a service. i understand everyone has bad days but todays bad day was at my expense and with no regard or apology from anyone working in this office. A little kindness goes a long way... PS The technician was great and very kind.

** Update on the bill ***…read more Recently I received a bill for a routine abdomen ultrasound and I was completely dumbfounded by the bill. This imaging facility charged $2.6k for an ultrasound service and I ended up being responsible for half of the remaining balance. Later I found out that Cedars-Sinai (Torrance Memorial is an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai) charges some of the highest rates for abdominal ultrasounds (CPT 76700) in Los Angeles County for standard PPO plans and the median negotiated prices in Los Angeles County are lower than four figures. I did send a message through their feedback portal ( http://torrancememorial.org/patientfeedback ) and honestly I was not surprised that they didn't respond even after I had left my contact information and asked to be contacted regarding this matter. I ended up calling the billing department and the staff simply said that's how it is billed & the only action they took was mailing the itemized charges. Main takeaway message - only come here if you have HMO insurance. If you have PPO insurance, get a price check on the Torrance Memorial website on price transparency ( https://www.torrancememorial.org/patients-visitors/billing-insurance/price-transparency/ ) by reviewing the machine-readable file that provides pricing information before committing to an imaging service at this facility.

Most of my doctors work with Torrance Memorial so I've been to Polak Imaging many times. Pre-check in online makes the process much faster and easier once you arrive. Appointments are kept in a reasonable amount of time. Staff are predominantly friendly and efficient. The whole procedure was completed quickly and they had me out in less than an hour. Never a problem having tests done at this facility.

[NOTE: This post has been revised due to them trying to take it down. To the owner: If you try to…read moretake down the post again, I will put it back up. You can't ban future disgruntled customers from writing honest negative Yelp reviews and then lying about what they said. Future customers, be warned the owner will try and get your Yelp review taken down. So, this post had to be rewritten. See owner's comment on 4/18 date - this was rewritten and freshly posted on 4/21. Therefore, the owners response does not match this review because it has been totally rewritten and is 100% within Yelp Guidelines. FYI: I NEVER once mentioned the ultrasound technician by name because I never knew her name. Therefore, I NEVER shared private/personal info.] Terrible service at First Look. Original owners that owned this place over 6 years ago were much more professional and the ultrasound technician was better too. The new ultrasound technician was extremely patronizing and rude. In earlier visits when I wasn't far along, she discussed stuff that was VERY unprofessional and something she shouldn't be talking about to random clients. I felt very, VERY uncomfortable with what she was sharing with me and felt that she crossed professional boundaries. When I returned further along at 29 weeks, I expected to get better pictures. She kept saving and clicking pictures that were very distorted. When I shared my concern that everything looks distorted, she said in a very patronizing way: "Look, the baby isn't going to take the cord, move it out of the way, and smile for the camera." At that point, I told her she was being incredibly rude. They charged $142 + tax for pictures that did not show the baby at all. The owner claims that they allow people to return if the pictures are not good. However, if the ultrasound technician is very rude, then why would any customer want to return? I ended up getting my money back. Mothers to be: I highly recommend not going here. If the ultrasound technician is having a "good day" and everything looks good - of course, she's going to be in a good mood. But, if she's having a bad day - then she's been known to be very patronizing, condescending, and extremely rude. This is especially true when the "baby isn't cooperating." I've gone to them several times in the past when I was not that far along to make sure everything was progressing because I had a scare at the beginning of my pregnancy and was worried. To The Owner: No matter what you say or how you try to respond, you've made excuses in the past. The way you solve this issue is to listen to the client and if they felt that the ultrasound technician - your employee was being rude - you should believe the customer and take their word for it. It is your responsibility to talk to employees when there is a complaint about their attitude and professionalism. You should train your employees not to share things that cross professional boundaries. You should train your ultrasound technicians to put the client first and not their own personal lives/stories above the client. It is also your responsibility to not make false promises of 5D being like the "real thing, like seeing the baby in real life" when the images that were taken were 100% distorted.

The ultrasound tech was sweet and tried her bets to get good images however I still just got blurred ones and I am pretty sure its not updated equipment. But at this point I'm over it. The owner was there and said good morning to us but didn't even acknowledge us when we left because my my yelp review and the 10$ charge I said in my previous review. Apparently it was taxes or whatever she said. She is truly rude and unprofessional. I felt like I was being yelled at over the phone when I called to ask for a refund, its literally a waste of time.
