Horrible communication. Waited 4.5-5 hours in the wait room with little to no communication the entire time. There were no water cups available to even get water during the 4+ hour wait. I understand having to wait, but the lack of communication was uncalled for an ER. read more

Don't waste your time. After today never again. The ER doctor, Mr. Christopher Smart was not so smart today he screamed and yelled at me running out of the room, then botched my medical records to say that I was just in a mental health crisis and physically and aggressively attacking him, which is a straight up lie The only person in a mental health that crisis today was him. He was the only one with irrational behavior. Even nurse Carly wrote when she came in the room I was just taking off hospital leads and I was and I let her take out my IV and then I gathered my belongings and I quietly walked out to my car and left stopping to catch my breath and even that worried me that security was gonna chase me down for stopping to breathe. I am over these doctors in hospitals that keep botching medical records and blaming patients and neglecting patient care. I have since requested to file a grievance! I want copies of the security footage. The incident report at the hospital since security had to be called because the only person running around screaming and yelling was the Dr. Smart but he is blaming me And then when security called back, there's conveniently no report filed. This doctor can claim I physically and verbally assaulted him in my medical charts but no report was filed about it? Don't waste your time clearly all they care about is intimidating and insulting patients and then falsifying medical records and sending them out the door. I left that hospital crying and scared of the doctor, calling them, asking them for a copy of the security report only to have head of security be rude abrasive and hostile as well and yes they got a complaint about him as well. I go into my medical records to find out this not so smart guy then falsified medical records and made up tons of lies in my medical files about me to dismiss his behavior and blame me. So I had to call them a second time and add to my first complaint other than his intimidating behavior and had to call back a third time to report the head of security being a jerk. I had to call them back and say that he falsified my documentation on top of it all.Unethical and unprofessional don't waste your time with this place. If that's the staff they have. If this guy wants to have a smear campaign with his lies in my medical charts, I'm gonna have a smear campaign with his name because he was the only one that acted unprofessional tIday and because a patient accidentally talked over him and so he walked out of the room screaming like a toddler creating a scene because I told him I didn't want his cough syrup. He was trying to prescribe because I can't take codeine with all my other medical conditions, but he failed to acknowledge that before he got mad and stormed out yelling and called security on me. I want the videos I want the reports he claims I assaulted him show me the paper trail. I will be seeking a lawyer like their own stupid head of security told me too, but it won't be just to obtain the videos it'll be to go after them for my medical records and this guy's negligence, irrational, erratic verbal assault and behavior towards me the patient and then blame it on me by botching my files With outrageous lies. This is illegal. I won't sit still for this by this guy's behavior and other complaints across social media. This guy is a loose cannon that treats his patients like crap and the hospital needs to do something about this guy's behavior toward patients because it's unprofessional unethical and breaks the laws and standards of care. I have had two urgent cardiac episodes that required immediate medical intervention. Staff at Providence Seaside managed both; they effectively and efficiently addressed my medical issues, listened to my concerns, and seamlessly coordinated care with my out-of-town doctors. The level of professional and personal care could not have been better. read more

I was very ill. Body aches, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, hallucinations. Could barely move my head without throwing up, had little strength. I have very little memory from March 23rd to April 5th. My parents were having to take care of me completely. I went to Seaside ER 5 times. I was an EMT, I know how that sounds. My parents and psychiatrist expressed concerns about lithium toxicity since I am bipolar and on lithium. The staff told my parents they had seen lithium toxicity before and I wasn't experiencing it. They said they would run the test if the doctor thought it was really necessary, but it would take 42-78 hours for the results to get back. There is an I/H test they can run. When I called because I saw the word 'lithium' in my medical records but no result they informed me that my blood had been placed in the wrong vial and nothing had been done from there. Short and sweet, because my original review was much longer than this, I went to another hospital where I was treated for severe dehydration and lithium toxicity. I had waited to post this since April because I had been wanting to work with whoever at Providence handles these situations. Just a meeting in regards to the staff and policies they have for these scenarios. Not unreasonable, no real interest in monetary gain. They turned down my request through their administration and also through the Oregon Patient Safety organization. I got a letter stating they were sorry this had happened, but all of their investigations are confidential. If someone is to read this and has questions in regards to my experience (because this is the short and sweet version) please feel free to reach out. *** I am not advocating for anyone to avoid their nearest ED in the case of a life-threatening emergency. Unsure why the walk in clinic is closed when they advertise they are open 24/7? I had higher expectations from Providence!

Was vacationing and ended up in the ER with a rash and bruising on my forearm. A walk in urgent care visit earlier in the day recommend the ER For an ultrasound. Check in was quick and the triage nurse was wonderful. I was seen by Dr. Rebecca Samet, who I found to be very rude and annoyed as to why I was there. When I explained that the urgent care doctor thought I might have a blot clot, she examined me for 2 minutes and very rudely said "I don't agree with her, that's not what you have ". I wanted an ultrasound to rule that out. She left the room and I waited over an hour for the ultrasound technician because she was on call and not in the hospital. The tech was very nice as were the other nurses who checked on me. Thankfully I didn't have a blood clot. When the doctor finally came back, her diagnosis was that I must have bruised myself grabbing my luggage from the overhead compartment or hanging a heavy bag on my wrist! When I questioned the rash and the fact that it was spreading, she snidely said " I've been a ER doctor for 30 years, as we get older we bruise easily, you must have banged it". Fast forward a week later, when I arrived home to NY, I immediately went to my PCP who quickly diagnosed me with cellulitis And put me on a strong dose of antibiotics!! Because of Dr. Samets misdiagnosis, I went a week without any medication because she clearly wasn't competent enough to diagnosis my symptoms. Even my sister, who has no medical background, thought it was something more. Her discharge notes stated "we were not able to find the exact cause of your pain and there's no sign of serious illness and in many cases, pain like this goes away by itself " really?! How could you miss it? Cellulitis can be very dangerous if left untreated, and as a doctor for over "30" years she should have realized this!!!! I feel bad for the people of Seaside who have to rely on this ER doctor, they definitely deserve better! Maybe it's time she retired! read more

I went here at 3 pm to be seen for chest pain and upset stomach and I wasn't seen for over 4 hours when there was no one here to make it busy, they did a EKG test but won't tell me if a doctor reviewed it.the waiting room is extremely freezing with very rude receptionists. My husband had to go in for a hernia surgery by Dr. Ritter. The appointment was at 6:30. We were quickly in the preparation area with Jeff being attended to. His attending nurse was Anthony. Anthony was great as was everyone who participated in the surgery. Dr. Ritter even stopped into see how he was and joked a little and told him what to expect when he gets home. Wow. I've been coming to Cannon Beach/Seaside area for 32 years now and this time we stayed an extra night and I forgot to put in my heart medicine. Sophie(sp?)at the Providence Hospital(along w/others)was so efficient in getting me some extra pills to carry me during my visit and the people are so friendly at Providence. I'd called my pharmacy, doctor, etc, but being a Sunday none of them were open and the Pharmacy here took care of me and I didn't miss a dosage. my wife says, YEAH! and thanks....rich bb read more

went in to er after waking up with severe headache and drenched in sweat with abdominal and back pain, accompanied with ongoing chest pain and breathlessness that I've been suffering from for over a week. Christopher Smart the ER doctor just looked at me and listened to me with a clenched jaw before telling me "the er is for life threatening conditions that need to be stabilized" I told him I'm out of state and haven't had these symptoms before. would like to make sure im healthy enough to fly back to my home state. instead of assess me he went on to lecture me and then rudely dismissed me and discharged me without proper labs to prove I'm STABLE - or address my high blood pressure. one star is putting it way too high. I had an appointment for a heart monitor to be placed. I made my appointment a week ago. When I showed up I was sent to three different areas. Finally I went to the office on the the first floor, the receptionist or possibly an imposter with absolutely no knowledge sent me to Warrenton where she said my appointment was. Well, the only way to phrase it Idiot. I drove to Warrenton to find out she was wrong. being very frustrated I called the Seaside location where I discovered I did have an appointment. Being their negligence, they wouldn't get me in and now I am without a monitor. This establishment does not care about the wellbeing of people and not accepting responsibility for the idiots making mistakes that can endanger people. I would not trust them with any type of care. The hospital staff is very friendly in the ER! We had a great first experience as out-of-town people with receiving medical help for our toddler and getting him treated right away. We chose to travel to Providence Seaside Hospital again after the wonderful experience we had with our first C-section delivery, and once again, they all did an outstanding job on delivery number two (absolutely worth the seven-hour drive to get here). We are very grateful for the very professional and tender care provided by Dr. Adler and all the delivery staff at the hospital. A special thank you goes to our nurse Courtney; we are so blessed to have had her amazing care for both our deliveries. She truly embodies the perfect nurse for both mamma and baby! An additional thank you goes out to Dr. Adler who did a fabulous job on both the C-sections we received here, allowing for a fast recovery for momma in both cases. Just as was the case with our first baby: after two nights mom was home from the hospital, only three days after surgery mom was off pain medications, and on the third day after surgery mamma and family were already walking on the beach. Our son could not be more handsome and healthy. We would definitely choose Providence Seaside Hospital again if we have a third baby! read more

Respiratory therapist/pulmonology dept: Condescending and uncaring. I asked what the giant gas tanks next to me contained and used for and she said "a bunch of stuff." Also she refused to wear a good mask even though she required I take mine off and do a bunch of deep breathing in a small room with her standing right in front of me. And I assume with other patients having done the very same thing before me. I specifically asked her days in advance to wear an N95 due to my immunocompromised situation. She acknowledged my request but did not specifically agree. And she did not in fact wear an N95 as requested. It was like it was a big joke to her. What is wrong with these health workers who don't care that they put at risk patients at bigger risk just to avoid their own tiny inconvenience? People: You need to stand up for yourselves and call these creeps out! If they don't care about patients they should not be working in heathcare. OBVIOUSLY. Stick with Portland, Vancouver, or other major hub if you need serious medical care. And research carefully before you trust them. read more

I was in the ICU for 3 nights because of diabetic ketoacidosis and the ICU nurses were truly amazing. They kept me calm when I felt like I was quite literally dying. Being in the ICU is not a good experience but they provided everything I could possibly need to be as comfortable as you can be while under intensive care. I hope to never have to be in the ICU again, but if I do I know I'll receive excellent, life-saving care. read more

There is not enough time or room to write about my GREAT experience at Providence Seaside Hospital! We live 45 minutes away but chose to have our baby in Seaside over our local hospital (Columbia Memorial). Dr. Greco was amazing, thorough, patient and there for us from our 11 week appointment all the way through delivery. Our appointments were always on time with minimal waiting. When we arrived in labor, the nurses were ready for us with a room, water, and everything we would need. They checked us in and made us comfortable and then got around to the dreaded paperwork. Our visits to the ultrasound department were wonderful and Bonnie always took time to take lots of pics of our little girl in utereo and answered questions as best she could. The nurses were the most amazing of all. They were there and never seemed bothered by our silly - first time parent - questions. Day and night they were there to offer help, support and encouragement. Although I can't speak for the other drs, the ER, or urgent care...I can speak of my experience as an OB patient of Dr. Dominique Greco: AMAZING. PERSONAL. EXCELLENT! read more

Nothing is worse than being a long way from home and your little one gets sick. You don't have access to your regular medical care, or the urgent care centers or emergency rooms your accustomed to. It is terrifying. While we were on vacation, our little one spiked a 104 fever and became very lethargic. We gave him Tylenol, but nothing was touching that fever. We decided to take him to the local emergency room. We were processed at admitting and quickly taken back to a bed. The nurses and the doctor on duty were very nice and showed lots of care and concern for our little one. They ran lots of tests and checked him from top to bottom Every technician involved in those tests were also very caring and took good care of him, doing their best to make sure he was comfortable. Since we were out of town, they gave us good instructions to follow for his care overnight, and then had us come back the next morning for a recheck with the same doctor. Everyone was just as kind and professional the next day. As it turns out, it was just a reaction to a vaccination he had a few days before we left for our trip. Based on our experience here, we would definately trust this hospital in caring for our family again. This was our first trip to an ER with our son and it was very scary, so the care, concern and professionalism shown by the staff in the ER here were very comforting. So, if your here on vacation or just passing through and find yourself in need of emergency care, you can feel comfortable that you will get quality care here. Billing was a small issue and kind of a pain to get corrected, but it worked out. They were very quick to send a report of our visit to our regualr pediatrician upon request. read more

They SUCK. Overwhelmingly, I was warned not to deal with anything serious at hospitals on the coast. And I'm sure they're not all bad......but my experience has been AWFUL. With no insurance, low income, no financial help from them, and 3 visits to pay for with zero resolution and/or direction given for my issue. Here I am. The kind of medical experience that has left me feeling super vulnerable, not taken seriously or listened to and treated like a number. RECEPTIONIST-seemed burned out & bitter about having to do her job, treating me bitchy, un-caring& rude. Then PLEASE be a receptionist somewhere OTHER THAN a HOSPITAL. She was the cherry on top of this piece of shit pie, you could say. FINANCIAL "COUNSELOR" never returned ONE call except to tell me that I need to literally be ready to die for them to help me. A "life threatening condition" was all she could help me with. Really? Financial help is only available if your dying....this is hard to believe. I confirmed with her on the phone that although my issue is KNOWN to NOT get better & only worse, require surgery and quickly ruining my life at 38 yrs old, that they would NOT help. She replied in a condescending tone, that, that was correct & that "we're not even sure you have" what you say you have!!! I understand needing proof, of course, but AGAIN.....don't work at a HOSPITAL unless you possess compassion for someone who is/has been suffering. And if you DARE say that to someone in my position, before even an ultrasound has been done...you probably shouldn't be in this particular position. SURGEON seems like a very nice man who means well......BUT did not listen or take me seriously. He is not into the asking questions & investigating part of being a dr......which I see as KIND OF important. There is more but I've wasted enough time on this bullshit. My honest opinion & experience is this: I AM IN PAIN, SOMETHING IS WRONG & SPH HAS NOT HELPED ME. And I now have to begin making payments to them when money is already tight. I was not at all impressed with the professionalism of the staff, nor services rendered by the Emergency Room staff at Seaside Providence. The triage nurse was abrupt, rushed, rude, failed to listen closely to my medical complaints. Dr. Smart was a typical doctor filled with hubris and no bedside skills. I was given a typical American "door - knob turn" visit by him and the typical, "here's Vicodin for the pain, call your regular doctor in 3 days." When I protested that I didn't want a narcotic, he just gave me a blank look and walked out. Not all quacks fly south I suppose. The coast is filled with drug seeking, pain med junkies and doctors like this are one of the reasons behind it. American medicine has turned to profit driven crap, and this hospital (or at least this experience) just illustrates what is wrong with medicine today. Definitely the best within 100 miles in any direction. The staff is amazing I have never seen such knowledgeable, skilled, professional, kind, friendly staff. From the cafeteria, to house keeping, to nurses and doctors. Simply the best!! Our baby Isabella was born here October 28 2015, and my wife came here her entire pregnancy. Dr. Adler is amazing, very highly regarded by me again I can't express the skilled nature and confidence of him and his staff. Had a total hip replacement by Dr Benz. Was hesitant as have had medical care in Portland for 30 years. I can honestly say any hesitation was completely unfounded. Incredible surgeon and team. In addition the aftercare in the hospital was outstanding, attentive and responsive. The food was better than most restaurants! Turned my friend away with a five inch cut on her knee and did not dress or bandage it. Cited troubles verifying her insurance (which is a very common, popular insurance mind you). They cleaned the wound for free, but probably only because they thought she was going to pay. Just gave her a couple sterile pads, medical tape, and packets of antibiotic ointment and sent us on our way. I dressed and bandaged her wound in the parking lot and we drove back to Portland. On 8/9/19, I rushed my wife to this hospital's Emergency Room. She was experiencing massive pain in her head while camping, and this was the closest hospital. She explained to the nurse that she had just witnessed her dog being mauled and that she was very upset. I rushed our dog to Seaside veterinary clinic to be x ray'd, sedated and stapled up. I left the dog and returned to the hospital about 20 minutes later to find my wife in an ER room alone, shaking uncontrollably, screaming, crying and puking. A nurse came in and prepped her arm for an IV stick. I asked her if the ER Dr. had seen my wife yet and she replied "no". I asked when the Dr. would see her, she replied "in a few minutes". Then I asked how long a few minutes would be, the nurse obviously irritated with me said "look, there is only one Dr. on duty, she'll be with you shortly". After watching my wife suffer in the ER for approximately a half hour longer, I opened my wife's curtain, saw the Dr. go into a different patient's room, and noticed 2 nurses laughing in the nurses station. I then stated to one of the nurses that you've got to be kidding me! Only 1 Dr. on duty, in a Providence Hospital Emergency Room? Nurse Mary then rushed over, shut the curtain and told me to "calm down". She also stated that my wife had said that she had seen her dog get attacked and that she instantly got a head ache which is known as a panic attack. I said "take a look at her, this is obviously not a panic attack"! She asked if I would like to speak with the Hospital Director "Joe" and I said yes. Joe came in about 10 minutes later, along with security and a different nurse. He explained to me that "this is a huge problem with rural hospitals all across the country and that yes, it is common practice to only have 1 ER Dr. on duty at a time". Meanwhile, the nurse had given my wife a sedative, which calmed her down. They then took her back to do a CT Scan. I apologized to Joe for causing a scene, but just a few days earlier, my mother had suffered a stroke and complained of pain in the back of her neck. Coincidentally, she was treated at Providence Hospital in Portland, received outstanding care there, and was released the next day. So my train of thought is: How is it I come into a "Providence Hospital", "Emergency Room", and service is so poor? The ER Dr. on duty (Katrina Godderz) never even saw my wife the entire time she was there. And her "specialty" is treating patients with life threatening conditions, shock and massive bleeding?? Not to mention she was dressed entirely inappropriate for a "Doctor in an Emergency Room". About 10 minutes later, a different Dr. opened the curtain and asked me to come with her. She led me to a consultation room where she proceeded to inform me that the CT scan revealed that my wife had a "Brain-Bleed", and that it was a life threatening issue. They had "already contacted Life-Flight, it takes them 22 minutes to get here, and that they need to do another emergency CT scan right away". This was the only competent associate for Providence I experienced. She was "Life-Flighted" to St.Vincent's hospital in Portland. The Surgeon there contacted me while I was driving in and stated that he needed to "drill a hole in my wife's head, insert a drain tube or she would die within a few hours". Words I will never forget. "Panic Attack" are also words I will never forget. Seaside Providence Hospital should not be allowed to employ such undependable, unreliable, incompetent, irresponsible employees. The fact that you do, sets you up for failure. I see other recent poor reviews and it makes me wonder...How is it that these behaviors continue?? My wife BARELY survived your ER, and the only reason she is alive is because I made a scene?? I would have to agree with previous posts...Stay far far away from this hospital, they need serious help! read more

I came in a few months back with some problems with my reproductive organs. Fast fwd to Aug 1, and I'm having a full hysterectomy, abdominally. The doctors, nurses, and medical staff are attentive, warm, and completely competent in patient care. I drive to Providence even though it's much further from where I live than CMH because Providence is just that good. read more

This review is specifically with respect to Kimberly Radda, FNP. I am from Los Angeles and was spending the week between Christmas and New Year's with family members in Cannon Beach. It turns out I had accidentally forgotten to take my medicine with me which included a drug that caused severe side effects if you stop taking the pills. I went to the Providence Seaside Hospital Pharmacy within the hospital to see what could be done given that my pharmacy chain was not located in the area. I explained my situation and told them I was starting to experience these side effects and needed four pills for the time I was in Oregon. I gave them my CVS pharmacy in Los Angels and asked them to call and confirm that I did have a prescription for the medicine in question which my pharmacy did confirm. The pharmacy under the direction of Ms. Radda refused to give me any pills. I then remembered that my internist worked for the Providence system in Los Angeles and that they could look up my record to see that I was taking this medicine, though the internist was not the doctor prescribing the drug.They confirmed that the drug was on my medical record. No Go, despite the fact that my symptoms were getting worse. At no time would Ms. Radda come out of her office to speak with me. At no time did she make any effort to guide or help the pharmacist in the pharmacy who was trying to help me and who, you could tell, did not understand the logic of Ms. Radda's decisions. I have never experienced any treatment by a medical professional like this and hope never to again. I sincerely hope Human Resources at Providence takes note of this complaint. read more

It's shameful that this hospital has two gastrointestinal surgeons but not one gastroenterologist. Not even a visiting one. I'm being forced to go to Portland to see a doctor that i don't know so I can get approval for a infusion medication that keeps me well. I requested a ride service for two weeks but that ball was dropped apparently by the social worker. Please note that i have full insurance coverage. I'm a senior citizen and suffer from essential tremor. So I have to drive myself. Obviously this stress only exacerbates my condition. read more

This review is specifically for, Dr. Ben Cockroft at Providence Seaside Clinic-- and more specifically the Suboxone program I walked into the waiting room on april 10th, of 2011 for my "initial" appointment, to get on Suboxone. . . four days later, was my actual induction appointment, and now almost THREE YEARS LATER,,, I'm still going to Dr. Ben, and get along with him very well... You may "hear" harsh comments about him, from upset/unsatisfied patients, but I think people need to take going ON this drug, seriously,, and they need to research whether or not it's the right choice for them. As a pure-blatent pain pill addict, then graduating to methadone and finally heroin,,, I can tell you that suboxone was kind of a "last chance" for me, and my LIFE.... Dr. Ben has specific and cut & dry RULES, that he doesn't budge much on in the begining...... One of the things he told me, was "how long have you been on the Amber program??" I was silent, he says, "and how's that working out?? so far? .... hmmm can you just TRY it my way for awhile? please give it some effort, and I bet you'll change your mind." that was the day I told him he was being unfair and just plain ass-holish... Must have been sometime in the first 30 days? Those days are pretty hazy. Anyway, I've been able to get on patient assistance for other meds I need, and providence financial assistance to help with appointments, and other check-ups, since I have NO insurance, and my employer does not offer it. Dr. Ben, his assistants, especially Mindy, I whole heartedly believe SAVED MY LIFE. along with Providence Seaside Clinic, and all the other countless staff who treated me like a HUMAN, not an animal, were totally NON judgemental .... Exactly what I needed those first few weeks, and pretty much since then..... Just make the call, You can CHANGE YOUR LIFE..... if you work for it. It's definitely NOT EASY,, but it sure IS WORTH IT.... read more

This review is for the Providence Hospital (walk-in Clinic) in Cannon Beach. The Cannon Beach hospital/clinic is not listed in Yelp, however, I believe the review contents would be applicable for Providence facilities in general. I visited the walk-in clinic in order to have a prescription refilled. Since I had recently arrived from another state, this visit was necessary in order to have prescription refilled. An assistant took my blood pressure, pulse and temperature and then I spent about 10 minutes talking to the doctor about my medical history. That was the full extent of my visit. The bill I received for the visit was $235. This INCLUDES a discount of $30 that given to clients who pay in cash. I have visited several walk-in clinics in Oregon and Washington for the same purpose, and never been charged more than $60 when paying out-of-pocket. This facility may have qualified docs and staff, but they are making people ill by grossly over-charging. read more
