Took their CNA course and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The instructors were very kind, funny, and went in depth into the material. I felt extremely prepared for the state exam. Not only does the school provide practical knowledge, but also hands on experience as they have connections with a nursing home/long term facility. The staff is amazing at this school. Ricky is super helpful. The instructors are awesome too. They try their very best at teaching you the material you need in order to pass. Thank you Ramon/Priscilla/Jimmy. I will still recommend anyone to this program if they want to become certified as a Nursing Assistant. I learned everything I needed for the state exam, and they do push you in passing their class. It is really hard to fail. But after the program ends your value to them diminishes. You're most likely not going to get a letter of recommendation. But given a number so they call your reference. My job said they never picked up or it was unreachable. Maybe they called at a bad time or something, but really if they cared about you then the problem wouldn't have occurred at first. During my stay there I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ramon Ubaldo who I believe is the Nursing Instructor at Providence Vocational school. He is such a nice man and I feel he goes above and beyond to instruct his students. I dealt with some of his students and was impressed of how professional and nice they are with dealing with the patients at the Rehab facility. Unfortunately, I cannot remember all of their names. Super ghetto. Staff is not that welcoming especially a smaller Filipino man named Rickie. He is completely lazy and is straight out rude. I called to ask what CEU they offered and he wouldn't tell me. Just gave me a website. I needed to reprint certificates I previously taken and he snapped at me staying I shouldn't have lost mine. I told him I didn't mind paying for the copies but he still sounded annoyed. People chit chatting loudly during class so badly that I had to tell the instructor to deal with them or kick them out because other people were paying to be there. They handled it but that wasn't the only issue with noisy people. Ramon is nice. Always polite when I see him. And they lady at the desk as well. I just feel like a number here. I took my BLS training in May, and was told that I would receive my card within 10 to 14 working days. The class was excellent, but I still have not heard anything from them. I have left messages, but they have not responded. I cannot work without the card, so they're costing me money every day. I usually get the Card on the same day as training at other locations. Don't know why it's taking so long, or why they won't call me. read more

The place needs to have a make over. or get new chairs. sitting in that room all night was awful. zarah conception was AWFUL AWFUL what a not nice name (wont put it) took the cna class and the acute care certificate. if you plan to take this do not buy the book from them, go on half.com or something and save yourself some money. the owner of this school works at mills hospital in burlingame as a psych rn and her husband works at sfgh as an lvn. zarah is an lvn. i passed (duh) without trying. easy-peasy class. i just needed this to put on my nursing school apps. - yay i got in! read more

Excellent staff, great experiences all around. I took the CNA (certified nursing assistant) course here last summer and finished in June. It was an intense 6 weeks with night classes 4 nights a week and all day clinicals during the weekend. But the people you meet are just a bonus to the wonderful joy of health care. Mr. and Mrs. Chua are great instructors on top of being approachable and welcoming people to just talk to. Ms. Zarah was my clinical instructor and she was a hoot to be around. She's so friendly and outgoing. I wouldn't hesitate to refer this vocational school to anyone who wanted to make sure they got a hands on experience as well as be surrounded by others with similar life goals as yourself. Today I feel so great because of I passed My CNA at Providence School. I want to say a little about my experience. First, English is my second language so i have more difficult to learn and study for me. So i had to do extra efforts and i had attended regularly to class and went to the clinical also. So I got different environment and experiences. And the School pushed so many exams to practice every week after teaching. I had to do over 1000 questions and work book also. And I failed 10 exams and i had to retake again all failed exams. During the written test and Skills test demonstration at school, I got so tired and so nervous. And i was so worry although i had a lot of practices. But today I passed my written test and skill test with super easily. As soon as i answer in written test I went to say "Thanks a lot " to Mrs. Priscilla. I know she did super teaching and detailing to me. Sometimes i mad at her because of she pushed a lot everything not to forget in State exam and reminded again and again. But i misunderstand to her. Today I super Thank to her for polishing a part of my life. Now i confident myself to do a new job about health care in anywhere. And another thanks to her lovely hubby Jimmy and her son for teaching patiently to me in skill test again and again. After researching CNA programs in the bay area for months I finally decided to go with Providence Vocational School in Daly city and am so happy that I did! The staff is incredibly thorough and professional. It is apparent that they truly care about each individual student and are willing to work with you one on one. After working all day the last thing you want to do is sit in class, but they make it as fun as possible. Regardless of the mood I was in when I entered the school, I always left with a smile. If you are looking to become a CNA and enjoy working with smaller groups, you should definitely sign up for this program. I am currently applying to nursing schools in the bay area and took the course to gain extra experience. I feel that I gained much more than I could have imagined when I thought about what it meant to be a CNA. Their website is often down and out of date. English is not their first language, so it is hard to understand what they are saying over the phone and in person. Providence Vocational is the best Nursing Assistant School that I have attended... Not only did i take the course once, but twice now & that's only because I let my certificate expired. I took it when I was 18 years of age back in 2001 and again recently in 2010, and Both times I have passed the state exam with Flying colors. I thank the School, Mr. And Mrs. Chua for teaching us the skills, and theory we need to know to become a Nurse Aide. I also have taken the acute class, that as well was very informative and I learned from a lot. I recommended the school to 10 other students within the past few years and they all have came out the school as graduates and passed the state board exam. I highly recommend the school. The instructors are very experienced in what they teach you and no doubt you will come out as a graduate with your certificate in hand. Getting my CNA license at Providence was an amazing experience! Priscilla and Jimmy Chua are incredible and patient instructors that will teach you all you need to know to perform the skills of a CNA as well as to pass the state exam with ease. Priscilla, who is an RN, MSN and part-owner of the school with her husband, was a phenomenal instructor. I took the evening class, and night after night Priscilla's warm demeanor, silly sense of humor and upbeat attitude helped make learning a true joy. I highly recommend Providence Vocational School! This review is for both Priscilla Chua and my experience with the evening CNA program. The school is well-located; if you have your own car, it's right off the 280 and there is plenty of residential and street parking. If you rely on public transportation it's within walking distance of both Junipero Serra and Mission (Daly City Mission Street area). Priscilla is a fantastic instructor. She is realistic and truly wants the best for her students. There are some days/nights where you may think you don't need her guidance, but you are very wrong. Priscilla is knowledgeable and really gears you not only for the CNA license exam but also for CNA work in the real-world. I met some really wonderful people here - we were all so sad to see each other part ways after graduation. There are times where you do feel overwhelmed with the lecture and clinical, but enjoy those times. it will go by fast and before you know it you will be an official CNA. There are a couple of things I want to note to set realistic expectations: --The classroom is outdated. This isn't Stanford. Don't expect laser pointers and brand new desks. HOWEVER the education and knowledge you learn is invaluable. --Student homogeneity - I am Filipino and so were the rest of my classmates, albeit a couple of other students who were of other ethnic backgrounds. If you are the type of person who is uncomfortable with this, just be prepared. In fact, it's really nothing to worry about more to be mindful of. Everyone from students to faculty and staff is very helpful. --Clinicals = don't think you are getting away with clean administrative duties. Yes, you will be changing diapers, etc. This is a good litmus test to see if you are really cut for the healthcare industry. Not every patient encounter is candy-coated as you see in hospital pamphlets. Overall, if you are looking to get your CNA license, go to Providence! read more

Providence Vocational School is a good stepping stone for those who want to go into the field of nursing. Their CNA program teaches the basic fundamentals of nursing, which is a must have if you are planning on becoming a nurse. I love the small class size because this allows student to get the individual attention they need from their instructors. I graduated in February. Priscilla told us to get our acute care so that we could work in hospitals knowing that hospitals don't hire new graduates and to work in facilities you don't need your acute care. I don't recommend that you get your acute care because all they want is to make money. Ramon isn't a good instructor as well. She and Ramon also don't like giving good references. The only people that do their job well is Jimmy, Ricky, and Joanna. Priscilla and Ramon don't pick up the phone or when they do they give bad references. So, I don't recommend anyone to go here because of Ramon and Priscilla and it is too expensive. read more

All star Instructors and staff at Providence. I took the certified nursing assistant course here during 9/04/12 and graduated on 10/21/12. I am so proud of myself because I accomplished one of my goals by working hard. Beside that I was taking classes at City College of San Francisco full time, work, and also attend Providence. Priscilla Chua I highly respect her because she is a great instructors and also funny. I learned everything I need to know to be prepare for the Nurse Assistant Skills and Written State Competency Examination. There is no excuses not to pass at all because Priscilla is there to help and allow you to practice as much as you want. Her class is design to help you succeed all the way. That's why I was always there on time and never miss a day. All you have to do is pay attention and take down notes and read your book. It was a great experience doing clinical at Pacifica and Ramon was my instructor. He is cool and I have fun with my other class mates. Zarah was one of the clinical instructor she is very sweet and funny to be around. I highly recommend this school because I currently taking Acute care right now since I got my C.N.A license on 11/02/12 one of the happiest day of my life!
