I was a little nervous but it was so fun & the instruction was very clear. We got in plenty of reps practicing on adult and baby manikins, in different "scenarios". He went over so much information: CPR on adults & babies, AED, how to even communicate and check time during emergencies, how to recognize heart attack and stroke, Heimlich maneuver/ choking, administering Narcan, Epi-pen, putting on wound dressings, tourniquets... John was a great & entertaining teacher and stayed late to answer all of our extra questions. Would highly recommend!!! I plan to renew in 2 yrs. read more

I would STRONGLY advise anyone in need of CPR certification/recertification to seek out any provider other than Safety Training Seminars. Their lowest price guarantee is a bait and switch tactic. They are incredibly unscrupulous; their form to report lower prices tries to scare you into staying with them by essentially outright stating that other lower cost providers are scams, and you won't be certified. I signed up for a class offered with a "discount" code for a total of $100; $120 class - $25 "discount code" + $5.00 to actually get your card (not sure what the option would be here if you didn't pay it. No card to prove you ever certified I suppose). After this I found two classes with other providers for $70 and $79; when I inquired about price matching the $70 one, they refused, saying the company was based in Ohio, even though the class was offered in San Jose, clearly the Bay Area. As for the $79 one, they refused to match it because they said it was BLS CPR not Pediatric, implying I had signed up for a Pediatric course, which I hadn't. And for good measure, they said they also couldn't match it because it was instructor led and theirs wasn't. Apparently it's more expensive to provide classes without instructors versus with instructors; who knew? Just another example of what a disingenuous money-grab this outfit is that will do anything possible to avoid honoring a price match, citing some absurd differences between courses and overly stringent requirements. They've written an impossibly complex price match than that allows them to deny any while saying they're honoring it in wording when they are most certainly not honoring it in spirit. And if they can't find a reason they'll just make one up by saying you're taking a different course when you're not, etc. So it's really not a price match at all, just a bait and switch. That and the willingness to lose a repeat customer, and any other customers this review may dissuade from using Safety Training Seminars, at $70-$120 a piece in order to avoid a $30 price match, shows the complete lack of business sense and utter disregard for their customers that this business holds. So if you want to be treated like a piece of meat, a number, simply someone to bilk for whatever they can Safety Training Seminars is for you. If not, then I would strongly encourage you to seek out any number of other providers that will value you as a customer and provide a better experience for nearly half the price. There are much more affordable options in the Bay Area, including Lifework for $70 and Cascade Training for $79, you also get the added benefit of actually having an instructor. And hey, you might even find those other providers actually remember customers are people, and should be valued. read more

Horrible. Is this organization not geared around courses for healthcare workers? I fell extremely ill the night before my class and needed to reschedule the day of. They charged me a $30 dollar fee for needing to reschedule as there is no sick policy in place. Not to mention this class is already $230 which is robbery. They would have preferred me to show up to the class anyways, risking getting the other healthcare workers in the class sick. It's clear this organization could care less about the safety of healthcare workers, patients, and their customers in general. It is so disheartening to know that a "safety" training seminar could care less about safety and more about generating income and business. Disgusting. read more

This was my first experience with it, but it was worth it. Essentially, it is a self-paced skills assessment that takes 40 to 50 minutes to complete, at least for the BLS certification. This review is for ACLS class with online class and then in-person skills with voice assisted manikin. I've done BLS here in the past but that was when there were in-person instructors so disregarding that. Pros: -lots of options for time slots for various certifications -if you prefer to learn on your own pace, then you can start and stop online course as much as you want. Reviews questions you marked "not sure" on. -skills portion is a breeze. For me, took under 15 minutes but you should definitely watch the video on tips to succeed and pay attention to the prompts from computer. Cons: -ACLS was quoted to take for up to 4 hours, which is highly inaccurate for people who would be taking an initial certification. If I have to guess, it likely took me about 12 hours to complete the course. I was stuck at 3.5+ for HOURS. This course adds more time when you get answers wrong incorrectly which what not stated. I was also taking notes which added to the time for completed. I was getting super frustrated as I got anxious about not completing in time for scheduled skills. My hand was cramping as well from all the writing. -I called to waive fee since course took me longer to complete than anticipated. Was able to get approval to reschedule without paying the fee. -some of the algorithms were cut off and information not reviewed for the questions. -if you like in-person instruction, this would not be for you. There's no instructors for this course. Tips: -If you're doing an initial ACLS, give yourself about 1 week time to complete the online portion. Will need to do 1-2 hours a day. Took me about 12 hours to complete -Watch the video they provide in tips to succeed for in-person skills. For me personally, I think I would prefer in-person class. This is good option though if you don't have a flexible schedule and need a class that would work for your schedule. read more

This was the cpr course without the live instructor. It was supposed to take me approximately 30 minutes total to complete but I was stuck on giving proper ventilations to the manikin. I'm pretty sure the issue was mostly due to how most of the masks provided in the facility were either leaky or would break on me while I tried to give ventilations. I tried calling the office team (they stayed on the line with me for 30 minutes) and they only told me to try different techniques to get the air volume up but I'm sure it's because the masks were leaky and broken. For a class that costs $120 they need to do better with providing proper masks that won't break on me. Because of this I was stuck at the facility for 1.5 instead of the supposed 30 min which was very frustrating. read more

I had a similar experience to Julia. The room was tiny, hot, and lacking proper air conditioning. The two person CPR needs a lot of work. It was exhausting, my hand was hurting (and I even have slight bruising) and I was icing to avoid further injury, and it was challenging to get the right support on the phone. I didn't have the best experience because the genius before me turned the sound off and it took me a while to realize this and turn it on. On top of this, it is a blended course where you need to complete an hour of modules and quizzes before you practice on the manikin. Overall, knowing about the modules and quizzes before hand and turning on the sound would've cut my 3 hour session down drastically!!! This session really pissed me off because of the no sound and the Cali of the comp was really slow so I had to keep resetting the task at hand and the room was super stuffy! 4/10, would not recommend read more

this is my third time taking ACLS from Safety Training Seminars and they are highly recommended for all your certification whether it is ACLS/BLS/PALS/NRP/CPR (initial or renewal). prior to coming to STS, it would be a sleepless night before the day of class and nervous during the class. Since coming to STS, all those worries and anxiety are gone. I actually enjoy coming to the class vs taking their online classes. I have also taken many BLS classes with them. took my renewal ACLS today on a Monday afternoon during COVID times. STS did an excellent job of structuring the class with CoVID safety measures. the class size is small and each table had disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer. One student per table and all student and instructor are more than 6 feet apart. mask are required and lots of hand sanitizer were used during the class. all equipments were sanitized prior to class. the test mannequin were sanitized after used. I felt very safe and comfortable throughout the class. I was so happy to get Kaaren as my instructor today. I will always remember her because she was my instructor when I first took my ACLS here. She is very personable and friendly and has a way of making you feel as ease and relaxed and not pressured. I'm a nurse so I have taken many classes. I have felt pressured with other company (I won't name names!) we all had a good time during class, Kaaren told us stories and we had good laughs. Thank you Kaaren! see you in 2 years. Came here to renew my ACLS. There was a great variety of medical workers in my course which I appreciated. I'm a physician but there were also a few ER nurses, Tele nurses, nurses aides, paramedic and an ICU nurse present in my class. The instructor was Karen and she was amazing! She's really funny and enthusiastic. I actually registered for the wrong date and was supposed to be the next day but Karen was nice enough to squeeze me into that day's class. She was really nice about it and I also lucked out that two people didn't show up. The course is listed as 6 hours long I believe but it only took about 3-4 hours. Most of the course is video based which were very helpful! Even as a physician who see's codes pretty often, I learned a lot from the course and I felt more confident in my abilities after completing it. Karen does a great job highlighting the important items on the videos that may show up on the end of course exam. She also has loaner AHA books which you can borrow for the day so don't sweat it if you didn't buy one or forgot it at home. The course was COVID safe where we all had individual desks with hand sanitizer and about 6 feet apart from one another. Everyone wore a mask and we wiped down every surface between participants touching anything. Overall, highly recommend this class. There is plenty of free parking outside. read more

The amount of time taken to the read online info., take the test, and the 'TOUCHY MANNEQUIN', was the same amount of time taken in the classroom. The mannequin was RIDICULOUS. Compressions were too deep, too shallow, too fast, too slow. Walked out after 4 tries. The company did call me to help rectify the situation. I took it at another local place with a GREAT INSTRUCTOR. I made a same day appointment only to find out I had to wait for an online form to be emailed to me so I couldn't complete same day like I planned and I had commuted all the way there on a bus. Had to complete an online test at home which I easily could've done there but they don't have control over when the form gets sent to you. There is no one that works in the office you open the gate with a code and you have to speak with online representatives if you need assistance they were very friendly and helpful but I find this very unprofessional not to have one person there manning the office. The second portion of the course is followed by an in person seminar on dummies it went very smoothly but still would not recommend the only reason I'm giving it to Star is because I did complete it over the weekend on a last minute notice. read more

This is my third renewal here. My first experience was in-person class and skills, it was excellent. Second was online class, then skills in-person with instructor, also excellent. My third, and last experience, was online class, and mannequin with computer for skills. No instructor. The online class was fine, but the skills portion was negative. I was in a building alone, which made me a little nervous. The mannequin was on a table, with a stool to stand on. The setup was uncomfortable, there is minimal instruction from the computer, and you just go for it. I failed multiple times, my back hurt, I was frustrated and exhausted. Eventually I got it. Both times I've been here in person, I've never had any problems with finding street parking. Overall, it's also an easy process to register for classes online. The virtual BLS Heartcode and ACLS Heartcode classes were $120 and $290, respectively. The BLS online portion was roughly 1-2 hours, while the ACLS online section was around 4-5 hours. Both in person skills sessions were less than an hour for me to complete. Only took a star off because it was a little pricier than others and they didn't offer CMEs, otherwise I'd definitely recommend utilizing their services as they made it easy for me to recertifiy my licenses. read more

I have been coming here for many years to renew my BLS. This is the first time in my 35 years in my medical career that I failed to renew my BLS. It was a very frustrating experience! The voice activated mannequins were very difficult to do compressions on, much more difficult than if you had to do CPR on a live person. This is true because the mannequins were probably very new and have not been broken into yet. This company even admits that you will not pass the first time, that it may take up to perhaps four times. There is no instructor on the premise. There is a camera with people watching on the other side to make sure you don't cheat. They don't help you. After two hours of not passing, the lady behind the camera asked me to leave, although there was only one other person on the site. I went to Revive CPR, and had a wonderful experience and pass with flying colors. read more

Super easy super fun! Very informative training for CPR. You don't need to buy a new cpr book and one person actually came in with a library copy. They have many available days. I came on a Sunday and there was a lot of people. There's a mixture of new and renewal people, but everyone goes through the same course. You spend some time watching the video, watching the instructor and skill check. At the end, you take a 25 question quiz. They aren't tricking you, so make sure to pick the best answer. read more
