Although we had a death certificate and proper identification, the incompetent bank manager would not release funds, and became near beligerent and extremely unprofessional when pressed to present the funds to which we were legally entitled. We were given a variety of lame excuses why not, and were never thanked for our mother's long years of customer loyalty nor were condolences offered, even though we were on our way to the funeral home. We all live out of the area and thus had some urgency to get issues resolved while in town despite the distress of the occasion. After going through a formal complaint process, we were more graciously received a month later by other bank representatives who were well aware we had filed a complaint with the state among others. Unfortunately we all had to make another trip (for two of us it was from out of state, for one, from 80 miles away) to conclude the bank business. Funds were released to us and apologies given, but when I asked for my travel expenses to be reimbursed (I had no other reason to make a second trip except their incompetence the first time) the request was flatly refused out of hand. Wouldn't even consider it. So I had to take a loss of $400 in travel expenses and 2 days of my time because of their mistake. Not good service, but since they knew I would not become a customer, they probably couldn't care less. This bank survives on the trust of small town depositers - putting your money in certainly isn't a problem, it's when you want to take it out. All in all, a very disappointing experience.
