In April, I took my…read more20-year old red patent leather pumps to get new soles because the old ones were crumbling off. I chose to go here because of the good cobbler reviews and the location was convenient. I picked them up 5 days later and when I got home saw that significant damage had been done to the uppers of my shoes and the soles that had been applied were already coming off and were smeared onto the bottom of the shoe. Even the heel caps were unsecured. The damage to my shoes had been covered in red shoe polish, which came off when I touched it. I was devastated. These shoes were a gift from my husband early in our relationship and are my favorite. They are not replaceable and have high sentimental value. I called the store and they did acknowledge that they knew something had happened to the shoes, but didn't tell me. They gave me the cobbler's information and I left him a message. When we talked on the phone he said he had sanded the upper because it had gotten some of the old sole on it and then covered it up with the polish. He said he could make it right. I went back to the store and talked to the cobbler in person. At this point, I didn't have a lot of trust in his judgment given that he didn't fix the original damage when it happened and didn't tell me what had happened. After a bit of back and forth, I asked for a refund. He said the owner would cut me a check. I also asked for compensation for fixing and/or replacing my shoes, but he insisted he could fix it. Given the lack of judgment and lack of honesty and accountability, I refused. I had to follow up with The Cleaners twice about the refund check only to find out that they had directly credited my original form of payment, but no one communicated with me about any of it. I ended up taking the damaged shoes to Dardano's in the hopes that they could repair the damage and they were amazing. I should have gone there in the first place (they were appalled at what had happened to my shoes). I cannot recommend Frank the cobbler here at The Cleaners and suggest extreme caution depending on what you need.

This place rocks it well. April was working when I was there this visit and she was a pleasure to engage with during my visit. She not only handled the counter for supplies, she worked fixing machines also. Never missing a beat she engaged with the customers and continued to keep things moving. The machines today are similar to the machines of my youth. I love the new technology of using credit cards instead of having $20 in quarters in a zip lock. This place is clean, fresh spelling organized.

It's now Urban Laundry, and the looks of the place are definitely more upscale. However, there doesn't appear to be anyone working here. Both change machines were broken. When I called to report the broken machine, I got a long and tedious blah, blah, blah message that was unnecessarily boring and included lots of blah blah about other locations. You can use a debit card in lieu of change. Uncomfortable metal stools, one per folding table, are chained to the table. The TV was off. An elderly gentleman, apparently a regular, tried to hit on me. The manager and employee finally showed up, but not to fix the bill change machine. They did clean the dryer lint screens. The washers and dryers work well. I used one giant washer and two dryers. They cost $.25 for 6 minutes. They also have "regular" machines and a small seating area. They have a "Night Owl" club that lets members access the laundromat with their smartphone. It's an odd vibe. I think that if they redid or painted the scary floors, it would be REALLY nice. They did a great job with the walls. It looks nothing like the old Speed Queen. However, the bill changer there was never broken while I was there. I brought rugs and comforters about twice a year. It cost $1.25 to dry each load of towels. Not bad.

I just got my wedding dress back from Green Care Cleaners and I am so impressed. I had stains from…read morethe dirt and sweat from almost a year ago. They were super friendly when I came in and were very upfront about the price and that it would take about 3 weeks to be cleaned and preserved. I'm not planning on wearing the dress anytime soon. I got a text with pictures on the day they told me it would be ready and it looked just like it did on my wedding day. Truly an awesome place of business. I plan on bringing my dry cleaning here for sure.
