Best thing about Pruett's is the cafe and bbq here! Easy place to get something for lunch or dinner when being lazy. For some reason I thought this market was going to be a small mom and pop store but it definitely is not. I went there to purchase Sequatchie Farm eggs after I saw them listed as a location that sells their eggs. Because I didn't need much more I purchased eggs and bacon. They seemed to have a full butcher counter but the three men working behind the counter were enthralled speaking to another customer so I just purchased a store brand. I used the self-checkout lane and since the eggs did not have a barcode a cashier came over and assisted me. read more

What a wonderful and attractive grocery store! Grocery shopping generally can be a chore if your store is boring. There's nothing boring about Pruett's Signal Mountain Market. It is a great pleasure to walk into this store and find unique items. Their flowers alone are worth coming for, as you will find a plethora of unusual choices, as well as whatever else you need to go along with them. You will have choices such as house plants, herbs, soil, flower pots, vases, small gifts, and other items you didn't know you needed. The meats are unparalleled for freshness, flavor and tenderness. A specialty item here are the Springer Mountain Farms chickens. You can't find them everywhere. They are brought here from the local State of Georgia. These chickens are the most tender chickens I've had in Chattanooga, or for the most part, ever. I would compare the SMF chicken's cleanliness in taste to Jidori chickens, and even though Jidori is a different type of chicken altogether, it's a close second. I used to buy the Springer chickens at Publix, but lately, Publix has had very little SMF chicken in stock. Pruett's whole raw SMF chickens are a tad larger at about 4-5 pounds, while other grocery stores run around only 3 pounds. You can also get the whole chickens rotisserie-baked and ready to go in a section by the specialty items. They sell local ground beef, as well as two additional cuts of ground beef, and all three are delicious and tender. The juicy and loose grind makes for healthy-tasting ground beef meat. Hamburgers and cheeseburgers are delicious! Salmon, as well as shrimp are also good choices. These are my mainstays, but I'll pick up new items whenever they are available. Cheese is one of my favorite foods and Pruett's has all of them, including some hard to find cheeses. They even have ready-made small charcuterie boards not badly priced compared to others. Love that. Fresh sushi, pizza-by-the-slice, or Springer Mountain Farms chicken nuggets can all be had to eat on their outside patio. Inside are brewskis at a newly-designed bar. They even have scheduled tastings. Everything you see here is unique. Why? Because they themselves are uniquely different than all the others. All of the fine people who work here have always been friendly and ask me if I need any help finding things. That is always a plus at any store. Good customer service goes a long way here. What I love the most is Pruett's has everything you need and the store isn't as big as some of these warehouse conglomerates that require so much walking, which is always a pain to me. I love the small town feel and always enjoy my time here. That's a lot to be said as for the tedious chore of grocery shopping. Pruett's takes the raw edge off that feeling! Stop by if you're in the area and need some groceries. If you go on a rainy day, a much appreciated added bonus are the views of the waterfalls as you climb the mountains! Shopping for groceries while on the road can be tricky but a friend recommended this market, saying it was like a local Whole Foods. We arrived ravenous after a day of hiking and were immediately drooling over all the possibilities. We loaded our cart with what we needed for the road and then decided what to eat. There was no more BBQ for the day and although there was no veggie sushi, one would have been made for me on the spot. We finally decided on pizza fresh out of the oven and some garlic knots. Although the knots were just ok, the pizza slices were very generous in size and tasty. We gobbled them down in our van but did see there was a screened in porch where we could have eaten. We decided not to cave and have fresh ice cream or dessert as we were meeting friends but otherwise would not have resisted the temptation. The store was light and bright with beautiful displays. Yes, prices are higher than we would like but this is a case of you get what you pay for. Employees were very nice and polite. read more

Gem on the Mountain -If you are looking for a mom and pop style Whole Foods, this is the place to go. From a great beer and wine selection, fresh produce, flower arrangements, vegetarian/vegan items, fresh cut meats, and so much more. You can't beat how great of a spot it is to visit. I love to hike up at Signal Point with my friends every other week, so we always stop for a bite to eat because they have sandwiches, salads, and even fresh sushi available! Plus they have draft beer, can wines, coffee and more to go with your food. The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable on products. This is a must stop and shop place. read more

A lot of things are over priced. Some employees do not seem to care about customer service whatsoever. Have ordered a couple deli sandwiches and each time they have hardly any meat or the correct ingredients. When you talk to managers or supervisors they still lack customer service and compassion. We spent a week in signal mountain and must have been at Pruetts at least 5 times! Great little local grocery with lots of prepared foods -- like a breakfast bar and a pizza bar -- and great selection of produce and quality goods. If I am ever near signal mountain I will stop at pruitts for provisions! Oh and we were accidentally overcharged for our meat but didn't realize until we got home. I brought my receipt back the next day and gave me the difference in price. We had already eaten the meat of coarse! They were very kind and understanding. read more

Soooooo I really had a craving for Pizza. I ordered at 7:15. The guy on the phone told me there was a 1 hour and 15 min. wait. I said OK. So that would make it 8:30 so I get there at the time I was told. Front doors locked, so I go to the side and its closing up. Pizza was there,cold, guy cuts it and tells me I have to check out up front because its closed in the back no big deal. I go up front and the lady in the veggie section says, in a rude voice," For future reference we close at 8:00 pm." I really didn't know this because I usually shop off the mountain. Her attitude was horrible and I took it out on the very nice girl that checked me out. The lady at the deli was so rude to me 2 months ago and this was may second visit since then. read more

Vegan options! They have vegan deli meats (we got some yummy vegan pepperoni made from seitan) in the frozen section. Pruett's is an awesome grocery store on the top of Signal Mountain. It's the only family owned store on the mountain and they just celebrated 40 years! They have a ton of local options for things like produce, breads and sweets and flowers from a local florist. It's a pretty cool thing when a family store can remain successful as long as Pruitts has. The other thing I like about Pruitts is the events they have. They are always doing something like having a cookout or movie night. There's a little cafe attached to the store where you can sit outside. They also have a sushi chef in house that makes fresh sushi AND a brick pizza oven where you can order a delicious hand tossed pizza. If I were you I'd follow them on Facebook to see the events and while you're here grab some snacks for a hike and check out Signal Point or Rainbow Lake! read more

Prices are a little spendy, but you get convenience if you live up here. Make sure you watch what the cashiers are ringing up... I've had several items mispriced for more. 5 Star meat department: splurge on the dry aged ribeye once in awhile! It's to die for. The best grilled burgers made using their dry aged hamburger meat. And sometimes they'll have local trout! Sushi is okay, but nothing spectacular. Their salmon doesn't have much flavor. New food service items are okay. Pizza was good, sandwiches good, but the hot foods at 7 pm was looking a little old. Great beer selection. They support the local farmers market in their parking lot on Thursday's. Thanks! It's just a fun place to visit! We go here often and it's nice because we can all grab whatever we want to eat, head out to the patio, and the kids can run and play while I have time with my husband and friends. The sushi is amazing, beer selection is off the charts, they have great expresso, the meat choices are amazing. The Good: Great to have a locally owned grocery store with quality meats and some local produce in season. The Bad: The catering and deli is disorganized. I had a catering order two years ago that I was to pick up for a post Thanksgiving celebration. I was told when picking up the order that one of the pies was not available. It would have been nice to get a heads up so that I could have made other arrangements. After all, usually when you are picking up a catering order it is for some occasion happening soon after you pick up the order. When I was in the store earlier this week, I asked if I needed to place an order for some seasonal items and was told this year they would be available between Thanksgiving and Christmas in the deli. Well, when I arrived today, I was told by the person in the deli that these items were in fact not available. I did have an order for a pie and they were not able to find it at first but then finally found it. I live 5 minutes from Whole Foods and 15 minutes from Pruett's. I would prefer to shop at Pruett's but the disorganization is getting old. read more

It is painful to have to pay such high prices at a grocery store when the deli lady literally rolled her eyes at me and tossed the sliced cheese on the counter and turned around before I could say thank you. I didn't even say anything other than could I please have *order*. Guess ordering 2 hours before close is annoying? The counter service is veryyyy hit or miss. They could be cool or they can make you feel like you are really annoying them with your presence. I kind of wish they would always have chicken breast stocked in coolers so I don't have to ask at the butcher counter for this reason. The sushi guys are so cool. Fresh produce can be out of stock so make sure to check that they have core ingredients for recipe before putting everything in your basket. The pizza is fire! The patio with the fireplace is amazing. They even have beer on tap. I am thankful Pruetts is on the mountain. read more

As the only grocery store up on Signal Mountain, sometimes you just have to go to Pruett's. It's actually a very nice store and they have most everything you want or need. They actually have a great cheese section and their in-house sushi is pretty darn good too. The staff are always pleasant. It has a small town feel to it, well, mostly because it's in a small town. This most recent visit (Jan 1, 2019) was our 4th or 5th visit since the renovations. The Good: Love the new aesthetics of the grocery store and the addition of the coffee, fresh deli sandwiches, and fresh pizza area. They have what also appears to be a small sushi kiosk which we did not try on our visits. The Bad: The staff here is young and incompetent. If you're able to catch them when they aren't goofing off with one another, don't expect stellar assistance with whatever inquiries you may have. It seems that there is very little discernment with the hiring here. It seems anybody no matter what your work ethic will be hired here. On our most recent visit we ordered from the deli and coffee area. Chaos seemed to be in full effect even though we were the only 2 customers in the entire area. The staff was plentiful, but most were preoccupied with fooling around. The only adult in the area was also joining in on the joking around and even in the midst of customer presence, she spouted off a number of expletives over and over. They were all laughing and carrying on. All we wanted was our sandwiches and coffee. The young man who rang us up was polite, but also seemed preoccupied with his co-workers and failed to notice that the coffee we had ordered had run out. We opted for a different coffee which was satisfactory. We received very little attention though and we didn't require much, we just needed ringing out for the 3 things we had come to purchase. The outdoor seating area which seems to have been very nicely built was beyond filthy. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week or more. (Not an exaggeration). There were various liquids spilled all over the ground, the chairs and tables had debris of food and condiments all over each of them. We decided to clean our own table and just try to enjoy the outdoors. We figured the nice addition of the outdoor space heaters would be on, being that we are in the winter season, but we were wrong. It was warmer than the store, but still cold. This grocery store has a lot going for it, but management may want to take a very serious look at the choices in staffing and leadership (there seems to be none) with this location. It seems like a lot of money has been spent on the new decor, but I can't imagine this business can survive with such atrocious service. Like I said this was our 4th or 5th visit here since the renovations, and service has just rapidly declined. I will be forwarding this message to management in hopes that there is a possibility of fixing the major customer service issues that currently plague this grocery store as it's the only grocery store on Signal Mountain as far as I know. Fresh brick oven pizza, fresh made sandwiches to order, and burritos with cheese sauce, homemade cold press juice, coffee from local roasters, draft beers, fresh gelato, sushi, cold and hot food bar, the list goes on and on. I can't believe how much they have to offer. They even make their own nitro coffee. You just grab or order whatever you want, head to the outdoor seating with fans and enjoy. Feels like every time you go into Pruett's they have improved something or added something new! This has always been a great resource on the mountain, and the work and passion they've put into it shows in the quality of the products and customer experience.
