Small orchard. Came all the way to Thurmont to pick blueberries. Cactoctin was closed so the next closest one was here. The blueberry bushes weren't that great. The had a selection of peaches, apples, other berries. The price of the blueberries were good. The lady there was helpful and nice. Make sure to wear a hat during summer picking time and protect yourself from insects.

The apples ARE good but I am salivating for tomatoes. A few more weeks and I will resume the weekly trip from Rockville for great tomatoes.

The cherries were 5 minute walk uphill, with this other guy eager to offer golf cart rides.

Americans tend to eat turkey only on big holidays. Which is a bummer; it's a great protein choice…read morewhether it's roasted, grilled, smoked, ground, or made into broth. The better the bird the better the end result - and Hillside Turkey Farms has the best fresh birds around. I've been coming to Hillside since my dentist (a local who worked there as a kid, many, many years ago) recommended them. My Thanksgiving tradition involves picking up a fresh bird a few days before The Big Day after standing in line in the cold/rain/snow waiting to get in the store. Besides turkey (whole, breasts, parts; raw and smoked; sausage and broth and other finished products) they also offer chicken, duck, pork and beef. You can find cheaper (frozen) birds at big box groceries, but you will never find a better bird. Hillside has limited hours so check out their website before making the trek from wherever you are. Trust me, it'll be worth it!

Hillside Turkey Farms opened in 1939 and is family-owned and -operated. It is a processor,…read morewholesaler, and retailer of fresh turkey and poultry, and it consists of a farm, plant, and retail store. Their menu of foods is large: many types of turkey, chicken, duck, pork, beef, venison, bison, elk, cheeses, eggs, prepared foods (e.g., meatloaf and cornbread), and more. From Hillside Turkey Farms, I purchased a turkey pot pie for several dollars. Its serving size was enough for one person. I ate it at home, and it tasted very good. Pickup, home delivery, and shipping are available.

Came here on a Saturday for the fall festival. Had bought tickets online which is a bit cheaper…read more Everything's pretty spread out in a large open field. On one end they had hard cider, beer and wine for sale and a stage with live music which was nice. They also sell apple cider, apple cider donuts, and food. The fries were good but crap dip was a bit watery. There's a fire pit area for groups that you can reserve ahead. Great spot for date night or a family outing- there's a lot for kids to do- a pile of tires to climb, barrels for them to play with, a giant inflated pillow bounce area. They have a good variety of farm animals you can feed (goats, horses, bulls, etc). You can also pick sunflowers/wildflowers, go on a hay ride, do the corn maze, and there's a little train for kids. In the main building there's a small farm store with fresh kettle corn you can watch them pop on site, pastries jams etc. Only suggestion is to improve the crab dip and add more activities for adults. More of a one time visit spot, probably would only come back if they are other activities next year.
