My 2.5 year old son has been going to Compass Schoolhouse since he was 12 months old. He loves school. He started in the infant room for 2 mornings a week. This year is in the 2's class. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Every time I drop my son off, the head teacher greets him and he dances into class. The staff are nurturing and some of the caregivers/teachers have told me that they sent their kids to Compass originally. Parents are kept informed with weekly emails reviewing what the kids did that week. I just can't say enough. It's wonderful to be able to count on Compass for a safe and stimulating atmosphere where my son plays and learns at an age appropriate level. Next year, both of my kids are attending and I couldn't feel better about it.

Bryan H. I wanted to pass along my experience at the…read moreFanwood NJ Goddard School. My second daughter was enrolled there after the covid-19 pandemic had lessoned. Prior to the pandemic, my oldest daughter had attended the school, so I am able to compare. My first daughter's pre-pandemic experience there was good, however my second daughter's experience was terrible. It started with a few months after enrolling her there I found out for two months they had been serving her the frozen lunch I was sending her to school with. They were no longer heating up lunches in the microwave like my first daughter. I found out from my second daughter telling me why she didn't eat her lunch "it was too cold." For two months they had been giving her frozen chicken nuggets and it was my fault (after confronting them) because we did not see the message that lunches were no longer being heated. Next, when I would pick up my daughter the teacher, or helper was coming out and saying she had a bad day today. I was clueless until after a few weeks of this she refused to go back (and I mean refused). She had lost all confidence to go anywhere or see any strangers. It was terrible. We took her to see help and we were told that she had gone through a regression, like a three-year-old going back to a one and a half year old. Confronted the school and they said it was her fault, she doesn't listen and goes around the classroom. That sounded like all three year old to us. We asked the school for her teacher to meet us and show affection to her, but she was cold to her. We felt so bad for her we took her out of the school. It took us months to bring her confidence and self esteem back. When I grew up a three year old was accepted unconditionally and supported to stand on their own. Not so at this place.

We are absolutely thrilled with our experience at WLS. Frankly, we don't know what we'd do without…read moreit. Our daughter comes home every day excited and beyond happy with her experience there: reading books, playing games, singing songs, making new friends, going outside, eating healthy snacks, and doing so much more! All of the teachers are incredibly kind, dedicated, wonderful people who truly care about all of the children. The school uses the Creative Curriculum, meaning the kids are always making wonderful art projects (they have drawn a school bus, a pumpkin, a lizard, etc.) no matter their age. There is also a great music enrichment program. The Summer "Splash and Play" curriculum means lots of fun time in the sunshine. They use the Brightwheel app to keep us posted throughout the day with cute photos and updates on what the children are doing. The school is also very cautious about health and safety, notifying us whenever a child is sick and making sure everyone is OK. I believe almost all other parents feel equally excited about WLS - Teacher Appreciation Week had to be extended to two weeks this year because so many parents wanted to bring the teachers baked goods and other treats! No daycare is perfect, but this place is very close. It was a little bit challenging to schedule a time for a tour, but we are so glad we did. We have had moments where our daughter has been fussy, and the school is very strict about labeling everything, but that just really reflects their incredible attention to detail. We love the "home"-style environment here - there are no security cameras, which we very much appreciate, as we trust our child's teachers 100% and do not feel a need to monitor them all day nonstop. As first-time parents, we were extremely concerned about daycare - but our biggest problem now is that our daughter loves it so much there, she doesn't want to leave! The teachers are exceptional (Ms. D, Ms, Hill, Ms, Suero, Ms. Robertson, Ms. Williams and the rest of the staff in the toddler room), they communicate well with parents, and my child comes home happy every day and loves to share about his day. The only areas for improvement are that the parking/drop off situation could be better, and would love to have a class list shared so we could socialize with other families. That said, with daycare the most important thing is the development, safety, and happiness of your child and Apple nails it on these!
