In the past I've mainly purchased herbal teas and remedies (fantastic selection, all organic and fair-sourced, great prices), but also occassionally picked up books, candles, incense, hand-crafted jewelry, and the like. I hear good things about the many classes they offer but haven't yet had the chance to sit in on one. They also have frequent events like psychic fairs with multiple readers on site. Again, I've never availed myself of these, but have been around when a couple of them have been going on. The definite sense I got was that people were enjoying and appreciating them. I'm happy to say that I did avail myself today of some new (for me) A Creative ApothaCare services, and I couldn't be happier. I purchased a package deal for time in first their infra-red sauna, followed by their salt cave. It was epic - and also therapeutic, insanely relaxing, and happily very affordable. I will certainly be back for more of the same. I understand also that ACA will soon have a sensory float tank up and running. I definitely want to check that out, and will post an update here when I do. A Creative ApothaCare - I just can't recommend this place enough. Between the herbal products (which also include CBD and kratom), and the spa services, they've got your health and wellness covered. With books and metaphysical supplies, they're addressing mind and spirit. The high-quality Pendleton blankets have moved upstairs along with a vintage clothing room. They have a resident photographer and multiple event spaces available. Love the candles, the interesting scent oils and specially curated books they sell. Prices were rather high though and it's kind of a hodgepodge of things. There is an attached music venue and bar counter where you can buy hard and soft drinks. Bought a bottle of water and soda for $9! Soooo yeah...crazy prices for bottled drinks! The downstairs is an art gallery with local artists' work that you can buy and jewelry and stationery items! There are other places near me that do professional framing, but none of them are as cordial or communicative. I place a great deal of weight on this. If I'm going to pay hundreds of dollars to have something framed, I want the process to be organically collaborative. At McKay Bricker, they review options, mats, and layouts in a way that informs and involves you. And they're just good people; friendly, patient, and willing to talk things through. In terms of quality and attention to detail, I have no complaints. When I brought in a mid 1900s etching, I wanted to frame it in such a way that you'd think it was original to the period. Cass nailed it. A few months later, they framed a page from an 1870 atlas. Today, I brought in a collection of army insignia. Jen took the time to find a mat that was nearly identical in color to a shirt that was issued to soldiers in the 1960s, and then did some math & design magic to make everything fit and work. Are you going to pay more here than you would at Michaels? Almost certainly. But the value you get in the decades of combined experience, the quality of the work, and the customer experience makes going to McKay Bricker a no-brainer.
