Full Circle Productions is a new theater company founded in December 2025. Their mission is to help…read morebuild the local theater community by primarily using local talent for high quality summer productions. The team consists of a local couple, their son as the artistic director and a musical director who has done work with several local theatre companies and across the country. The President is a retired attorney. Her husband has worn many hats during his years in Coastal Virginia returning "Full Circle" to the entertainment sector. The couple and their son are the perfect team to begin this venture. I recently saw their production of Stephen Sondheim's "Assassins" at Zeider's American Dream Theater in Town Center. The production was excellent, especially with the innovative staging of director / performer Conor Crowley. Bio's of the performers are available via a link on the Playbill. The ones I knew personally grew up in the local theater community, some now based in New York. Each did a beautiful job in a role that required aquatinting themselves with events that happened long before they were born. The director must have done extensive study before the staging because he brought back the emotions of my real life remembrances. Using performers as stage hands was an excellent way to maximize the space. The use of a camera, projected on a large screen above the stage, gave us a close up look at the faces of the assassins that were in their manic mode. The camera was passed between the actors smoothly. The presentation by the ensemble/stage hands, with one light lit, regarding remembering exactly where they were when they heard the news of the assassination was emotional. All these decades later I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news that JFK had been killed. We were sent home from school and spent the next week watching the events play out on television. It was humorous having the Gerald Ford character trip up the steps to the stage, which he did often in real life often. Before the production began the Director/Proprietor issued a warning that there would be violence, profanity and gunshots. After the performance the President Karen Crowley gave a short speech about mental health. She indicated that there would be a table in the lobby afterwards with resources for those in need of help. This was an excellent way to end the performance, since mental health contributed to the actions of the characters in the musical. The one criticism I have was the sound with two particular actors. The mic was too hot when one went into his maniacal mode. The other was during a character's solo. But as the late VMT Founder used to tell people "I'm a hard sell." I have been in the theater community so many years that I notice things others might not. I was very impressed by the production, the casting and the orchestral work. I hope the company does many more productions , not just during the summer season, but all year long.
