From the moment I was transported from Sacred Heart Hospital (after being there a week) with a few medical complications. I was brought to Encompass and the staff was remarkable!! I would highly recommend you making the right choice with Encompass!! If I ever had to go to any rehab. facility it would ONLY be Encompass. I was treated so nicely by rehab, staff, (a special thanks to Kayla Y ,Kayla S, Daniel, Holly, Lindsay PRN, Audrey Case Manager and Rachel OT.,) ,administrators who were amazing, the nurses were so thorough and careful, the Dr. on staff was detailed and the pharmacist was so helpful , and the food was fantastic too!! This is the 1st time I have done so. I usually go straight home. My friend and home health care physical therapist suggested I transition to a rehab facility prior to going home because of the challenges of being below the knee amputee on my right leg, it would be in my best interest and moving towards the best possible outcome. She recommended Encompass because she had heard good things. I can now personally testify to the EXCELLENT care I received over an 8 day stay. From the moment I was delivered into Encompass care until the moment I was discharged and on my way home, I received a quality of care that I have never experienced before. Every nurse, nursing tech, and physical therapist who implemented the care prescribed for me was exceptional. They listened to my concerns and reassured me as to the plans in place to meet my needs. Because this procedure is part of a series of steps needed to give me complete control of my quality of life they took care to explain clearly how everything would work together when the new hardware was installed and I was ultimately able to live my best life. And those were the folks I had minute by minute interaction with. My case worker, the doctors, and administrators were on point to ensure that they clearly directed the care my people implemented and made happen. I experienced the full spectrum of emotions from despair to joy, and my team was there and available to hold my hand or celebrate our victory. And that word TEAM is the most important to me. Encompass gave me a Team approach to successfully transitioning back home while continuing to progress to the new hardware installation. After which I will return to Encompass to complete this process knowing that my Team is there to support my needs whatever they may be in this next stage. I can not stress how incredible the people who make up Encompass are. From the top of the food chain to Mr. Bob in the kitchen to Hazel who cleaned up after me. After having an MRI of my brain and some bloodwork, my followup appointment with the PA resulted in no diagnosis and no further tests were ordered. Instead I was referred to speech therapy and told to come back in six months. I wasn't satisfied with my treatment so I contacted the University of Alabama Birmingham - who saw me in March 2024. The Dr. suspected ALS and ordered extensive testing including a needle test (which is performed on suspected ALS patients). As a preventative measure, I was prescribed RiluzoIe. After further evaluation and consultation, I was officially diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS in June 2024. If I had followed Emerald Coast Neurology's recommendation, I would have lost a half year of critical treatment. And with ALS, EVERY MINUTE COUNTS.

Equally obvious was that the thing I was…read morestruggling so hard to make work (the 12-step modality) was just not a good fit with my personal belief system, which made it exceeding difficult to stick to. I did not believe I was "powerless" (though I admittedly needed some help), and I instinctively knew that starting every sentence with "My name is Melyanna and I'm an alcoholic" was not healthy for one's self image, let alone one's sobriety. The search began for something that would work for me; soon my spouse told me about GBR (I was too involved in my isolation and substance abuse to do any research myself). She had combed the site, made a call to GBR, and after after speaking to Kat, told me she knew in her gut this was the place where I would find the healing I had needed for so long. So I summoned up the courage, called and spoke to Kat myself, and shortly came to roughly the same conclusion. I got on a plane and committed myself and the next 2 months of my life (as well as a bunch of my parents' money) wholeheartedly to whatever it was they were cooking up down there. This turned out to be the best and most significant decision I have made in my adult life. I was desperate for real change, and had high hopes going in. GBR exceeded all of my expectations. It is not an exaggeration to say my experience was transformative, and by the time I said goodbye, 8 weeks after walking through those doors, I was simply not the same person I was when I arrived- which was a great relief because that person did not and could not love himself and behaved in a manner consistent with that belief. It is difficult to nutshell the experience in a review-friendly sound-byte, and of course everyone who comes here is on his or her own path, but my personal experience at GBR was this: I was treated with compassion and understanding. Over the course of my stay, with a bit of encouragement, I learned to treat myself the same way. This long-overdue change in self-perception enabled me to organically arrive at an understanding of my relationship with my drug of choice (ethyl alcohol in my case) which made ceasing my previous behavior an intuitive choice. It was a deep understanding that I could not un-feel once I felt it. Early in my stay at GBR, one of the counselors said something which turned out to be prophetic, and at the time sounded simultaneously counter-intuitive, hopeful and refreshing. And she said it with a level of conviction that really got my attention and made it stick in my awareness: "Stopping Doing Something isn't what we do here". The focus was never on fixing something that a 12-step program would say is fundamentally broken about me. I was never told I have a disease, never led to believe the behavior that brought me there was something I would have to struggle and fight against for the remainder of my life. I was allowed to heal at deeper, more fundamental level, and my compulsion to abuse alcohol simply fell away with several other behaviors that were neither nurturing or nourishing. And that's the gift that GBR gives, if you do your part. You hear it in phrases like "getting out of your own way" and "connecting with the innate heath that is your birthright", etc. but whatever you call it- it worked for me. And I witnessed it working for others during my stay. As it turns out, 8 weeks (which admittedly scared me a bit at first) was just about the sweet spot for me. Rome wasn't built in a day, so they say, and I certainly did not become the mess I was before I reached out to them overnight. The counselor I matched with was perfect for me; our sessions throughout my stay were comfortable, edifying, and empowering. They have several counselors on staff, and they are all awesome, committed professionals who have their individual approaches and strengths, as I learned in group sessions with them. Mine, however, was the the awesomest. (Many of my fellow guests said the same thing about their counselors, but I knew the truth). Others have extolled the virtues of the location/environment/activities (all very conducive to healing), the food (I tried to take one of the chefs home with me but alas she was already in a relationship), the staff (all were phenomenally caring and compassionate), so I don't need to reemphasize any of that. GBR is in truth what others have described in that regard- a safe, loving place where you can heal from the inside-out. I went down there with a lot more baggage than I came home with, and for that I am eternally grateful for everyone whom I worked with during my stay. If you've made it this far, I sincerely hope you reach out to them. You are worthy. If you are a family member of someone in need, please do the same.

Dr Bin gave me a thorough traditional Chinese medical diagnosis and treated me with acupuncture and heat for more than an hour. I immediately had a sense change during the session. And you get no where because neither of them want to put in the work to find out where they screwed up. While the doctors are great, they are not worth the time I have had to spend dealing with their accounting fiasco.

Before finding this practice, I endured four emergency room visits and multiple appointments with my primary care physician, who repeatedly, and incorrectly diagnosed me with hypertension and prescribed medication I didn't need. My blood pressure remained normal at home, and I knew deep down that the root cause of my vertigo was being missed. Desperate for answers, I found an ENT on my own, who recommended vestibular rehabilitation with Dr. Watkins. I'll be honest: the first visit was difficult, and we had to stop early. However, I noticed immediately afterward that my dizziness improved when turning my head on the pillow-a small but significant victory. I was hesitant to return, but encouraged by my husband and my own intuition, I went back for a second session. After just 15 minutes of specialized vestibular physical therapy, my vertigo and dizziness completely disappeared. It felt like I was a new person. No one else was able to provide the correct diagnosis or relief until I walked into Legendary Performance. Dr. Watkins is incredibly caring, professional, and--most importantly--highly knowledgeable.
