When our original landscaper walked off the job halfway through, we had a really hard time finding anyone who wanted to finish a job that was done so poorly. There was a lot of replanting, redesigning, and replacing to do. Other companies were scared off by the magnitude of the job in addition to the negative rumors the other landscaper spread about us but Greg and Matt took a chance and gave us the benefit of the doubt, and they took the project on wholeheartedly. As soon as they began, we noticed how efficient and hardworking their team was - what stood out the most to us is that this isn't just a job to them. They clearly love what they do and it shows in their work and their attitude. After building a house from the ground up both here and in SF, we've learned a lot of hard lessons. I spoke with Greg in early July. I explain to him that his workers had broken a sprinkler head after their visit. I was not upset because these things happen. I also explain to him that I needed some new sprinkler valves and a new controller because none of the sprinklers are working because controller is dead. He had assured me that he will get his best guy on the project The following week! Because of the Covid situation I gave him around a month to get back to me or do the work.....? The sad thing is the landscapers see the broken Sprinkler head every time they come, also They are aware of the entire sprinkler system not working!! I flagged down my neighbors landscaper, showed him the work that needs to be done and he said he will have the sprinkler valves ordered and in by the following week!! ZERO STARS!! read more

I used Pua Lani Landscape (Greg) for some help with a french drain. My wife and I are new to the house so we also have landscaping needs. While at the house, Greg was very helpful. He was a great resource of information and clearly knows his business. As far as the french drain, they got it done quickly and without a hitch. They even scheduled it before an upcoming rainstorm so the timing was perfect. I really appreciated that and not having to vacuum water out of the house. Don't wait! I finally realized I needed professional help in keeping my yard under control. I have a difficult yard in Kailua, a large hillside, very lush, and labor intensive. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. They approach your job in a very professional manner. You have a supervisor assigned to your job so that you know your overall wishes are being considered each visit. I love the guys on the crew, really nice and polite. I think the pricing is more than fair. Pua Lani is the best! We had Greg and his team come up about 7 years ago and they landscaped our front and did our irrigation system. They did a beautiful job! I have had to call them for several issues (broken sprinkler head, leak in the old irrigation line, emergency hedge triming) and Greg has always gotten back to me that day for a consultation. Then either he or his crew would be there the same or following day. They were extremely helpful when I was selling a rental property. They came, gave me a proposal bid to clean it up and then also do maintenance until sold. Pua Lani is terrific and they are very friendly, hardworking, experienced, and a joy to work with! I stayed with this company for way too long. They started out great, but I think they were over-extended with their commercial accounts. A number of e-mails went unanswered. I had large brown spots in my yard, and finally had to hand water areas of the yard. Requests via e-mail to check the sprinklers went unanswered. My new landscapers found 2 busted sprinkler heads and 2 that weren't even popping up because they had let the grass get so long. Those were fixed by my new guys and no more hand watering. Yay! I don't know when the last time a supervisor or e owner checked my property, but it was apparent there were problems. The only thing I was made aware of recently is I could pay about $700 and have my sprinkler line hooked up to the main line. Nothing about the busted heads or fixing those. A number of times, plants died, and they just cut the plants out. Never offered to replace them. I would have accepted the additional cost for that, but I guess they don't need the business. read more

I let my former landscape guys go for not paying attention to the needs of the individual plants, they just slashing through the yard every other week. I talked to people in the neighborhood who had nice yards and asked then who they used.....Pua Lani Landscape Design Inc. I used them for about a year before I moved, it was hard to let the yard go,...they had it looking so good in such a short period of time. . Greg really is an expert with landscape design, he knows his stuff and is able to transform a yard beyond your wildest dreams. I know his business manages very large-scale projects, but I just have a very tiny home in Kaimuki with a little bitty yard and he still agreed to take on my project as well. He gave me exactly what I wanted (easy, low-maintenance yard providing coverage from my neighbors). He also far exceeded my expectations by adding in additional ideas that I never would have thought of like a little self-sustaining outdoor fish bowl and making sure my neighbors were taken care of during the process. His team is excellent, some of the best guys I have ever worked with here. And they have followed up regularly after the work was done to make sure my plants and yard are doing well.
