Service was abysmal. Ordered well before kitchen closing time, then waited over 30 minutes for our food only to find out after asking that it was falsely taken by someone else. You're given numbers for your table yet they gave our food to someone else that "claimed" to have had OUR number even though OUR number was literally planted on OUR table facing the aisle. At this point in time it was past kitchen closing (which is also the same closing time of every other restaurant/bar in town except fast food). Imagine spending a fortune to go to QT only to be treated like this. Get it together. PS..Was in QT for one week and literally every other restaurant/bar was on top of it/great expeditious service. My friends recommended this place since all their entrees were only 20 nzd. We ordered 3 dishes to split among 3 people, the beef wellington, salmon fillet, and south island lamb. Each dish had meat, carbs, and greens, creating a well balanced meal. All the entrees tasted amazing, but the lamb was my favorite. The lamb only had a slight lamb taste to it. The beef was quite tender and almost too raw on some parts. The salmon fillet was crispy on the outside especially the skin, and still juicy on the inside. This is a decent place to come for brunch or lunch. Lovely outside seating by the park and overlooking the lake. You have to order at the bar and pay, then you get a number and bring it to your table. They have a nice selection of bar food classics like fish and chips, burgers and pizzas. But they also have their twist on tastes such as ugly bread and salmon pancakes. The former being a pumpkin chutney with different cheeses on top of a baguette, and the latter being a crepe/euro pancake containing diced salmon, green onions, and other veggies. Everything tasted fresh and was filling and satisfying. I ordered the vegan as burger which was a vegan burger made out of chick peas and corn it comes topped with hummus, ice berg lettuce, and chipotle mayo. The burgers and fries - absolutely inedible. We all ordered our own and independently said we've had food at bowling alleys that's tasted infinitely better. I have never ever had such questionable meat (texture was so tough and the taste was not like normal beef), and the fries were too hard and dry to eat. Tl;dr: Solid food quality with reasonable portions and prices. The service was not great but not terrible. Free wifi and clean bathrooms! Found this place on Yelp and chose it because it had reasonable prices and a kids menu. Strolled in at 2pm on a Sunday after flying in to Queenstown. Lots of seating available inside, but all of the tables outside with views of the water were taken. We sat ourselves inside and waited for a bit until we called over the waitress and asked her for a menu. She informed us that we order at the counter. Maybe it's because I'm a tourist/noob and unfamiliar with NZ restaurants or just restaurant-bars in general, but it was unclear that you order at the bar. During the rest of lunch, the service was fairly inattentive, but when we asked for things, they did the job. We waited for our food while using the fast free wifi (500mb per login, which you have to ask for). The bathrooms in the back were clean and next to a few slot machines in the back. I didn't use them, but it was a cool touch. Then our food came, and it all looked delicious and reasonably portioned. In our group of 5, we got the kids chicken nuggets, fush and chups, lamb backstrap, 3 hours slow cooked beef, and garlic loaf. Overall, really pleased with the food. None of us walked away hungry. The fries that came with the fush and chups and the chicken nuggets were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The slow cooked beef was very tender and moist and was essentially a steak; it came with roasted potatoes and coleslaw. My lamb was not really what I was expecting (I don't really know what I was expecting), but I still enjoyed it; the couscous was especially flavorful. I really liked the bread used for the garlic loaf, but I wish I had more garlic flavor. read more

Came here to meet up with European friends I met up in Rotorua. We were all leaving in a few days, so we picked this place for the live music and good location. We only drank, so the only thing that I can talk about is the pricing on glasses of wine or beer. I personally drank wine ($10-$11/glass) which, for me, is quite a bit considering I can buy a decent bottle of wine for $15. The beer drinkers said that their beers were $10 also, which, again, I think is a lot. It may be the bar, it may just be New Zealand... They had PLENTY of space available, both outside and inside, so if you wanted a large space for all your mates to meet up, this would be a prime spot. Large tables inside, benches along the wall, tables outside, live music throughout the week (our guy, Dave Arnold, was really good). And that's all I have to say about that. read more

It's a pub so there is zero service and you are going to order at the counter and wait for your food with the number. The lamb ramp was nice but cooked to a well medium. The beef Wellington was quite a bit better and I would recommend that. Limited service lent to sticky tables. read more

Fun lakefront bar for watching an All Blacks rugby game. The crowd is great, the food delicious and the beers and wine local. They have musicians perform and it's a different performance every night. We sat at one of the bar tables on the patio and had several cocktails watching the world go by after 3-weeks in NZ. Nice patio, good selection of beers, quality food at a good price. Pub on the Wharf definitely has the formula down. Asides from having a nice patio facing the Queenstown harbour, the beer prices are reasonable ($7.50) and all their dinner mains are $20, which is a great price to begin with in Queenstown, but is even better when you see what types of dishes you can get for the mains. I got the beef wellington which was pretty much the best beef wellington I've ever had - it was absolutely delicious. The portion wasn't very large, but I definitely think it's enough for one person, and me and my friend even split the meal and we were fine when we left (we both don't eat a lot though). read more
