Absolutely terrible. This financial institution has failed to: 1. Make it easy to do business with them 2. Earn my trust I was originally a customer at Metro Shores several years ago. I eventually had no choice but to do business with Public Service. I still have a home equity line of credit that I haven't withdrawn from in several years. I have been paying it online and have never missed a payment. I make this payment from a bank account at a different bank, but until now it's never been a problem. I log in this month and find that I can't pay my bill online if the money is coming from an outside account. In the year 2024 I must either mail a check or take a payment to them in person to avoid incurring additional fees. When I called to inquire about this, the manager of the call center blamed it on other customer's supposed 'bad behavior' and said they're 'deciding' whether or not to allow their customers to pay that way again. If they are not capable of taking responsibility for and fixing their faulty and/or inadequate systems, and hiring/retaining technical staff that's worth a damn, how can I trust them? I recently purchased a vehicle and the dealership put my loan through Public Service Credit Union. I am trying to make my first payment and the experience has been HORRIBLE!! I have not received any loan or account Number info. I have tried self registering and calling them multiple times. All I want to do is make a payment! I have never encountered anything so difficult before. I finally got an account # and was told to self register, but it says I can't because now there is no email associated to the account and it cant. The chat is useless and it is almost impossible to get to a real person. I wish I had stopped the dealership when I found out is was a credit union I had never heard of before. read more

I've tried to apply for a loan for over 2 weeks with a co signer ready to go and every time i call they're "too busy". Okay, sure, no problem. Then, I wait on the phone for 15 minutes, mind you im first in the queue to be helped. After waiting 15 minutes im then told to leave a voicemail and they will get back to me. No problem! That is, until they never call back. I even had my co signer call on 4 different occasions, left voicemail each time just to not receive a call back. Is this place legit? I genuinely could not tell you. 1 star rating. would give less if possible. There is absolutely ZERO communication. I talked to them 1 time 17 days ago and now I cant get a hold of any office, from various cities. Extremely frustrating as it was already a process just to find a co-signer. read more

The Romulus PSCU has downgraded to the very worst. 3 yrs ago (I think her name was Rene) was the best ever at her job as the front desk receptionist. This Credit Union had a 5.0. Now you have a lady at the front desk that acts like she don't want to hear questions and smiling is non-existent. Now the ratings are at 2.0. I now am going to other locations of PSCU and they are wonderful. I will not leave this PSCU due to a lack of communication and kindness. If your Romulus PSCU branch doesn't treat people right all the other PSCU are going to suffer even though I haven't had a problem with them. Just did a home equity loan with Laura Matthies it was a great experience from start to end she was very helpful and Laura was just a wonderful person to work with. I've been with Public Service Credit Union for many years and have no aspirations of changing. They filled all my needs financially for quite a while. read more

I will be closing all my accounts with this bank. This credit union charges you a financial fees on your CC, if you don't pay the monthly balance. Also, they do not have a rewards program or any kind of incentive's for this credit card. Please do not apply for this card it's a rip off and it only benefits the credit union. read more

Don't choose this "bank". They have taken 2 car payments in the same month out of my account multiple times. Horrible business practices and customer service. My direct deposit will no longer go to this bank and I am closing my account as soon as the car is paid off. Protect your money and your peace and don't come here. Every time I called collections amanda is very nice . Today I called 7/8/24 a male name "terry" or something that starts with a T Is so rude! He Hung the phone up in my face when I tried asking questions. If you dont like customers service you probably shouldn't get a job that deals with people. I just applied for a loan to buy out my car lease and the process was painless. I want to thank Laura, the loan officer at PSCU, Trenton, MI for helping me through the process. She was very patient, even when she had to explain things a second time to me. I'm happy that I am doing business with this credit union. The people are nice and efficient. Absolute TRASH! After 23 years of direct depositing my paycheck, I left this institution due to their complete dismissal of my concerns after an identity theft incident. I wasn't notified until AFTER they closed, that there were suspicious charges on my debit card. This was prior to them allowing alerts to be set up. Someone filled up three cars, shopped for groceries twice, and then hit two malls the day after my payroll posted. Wiped out my checking and were well into my savings by the time I was able to cancel the card. By the time PSCU refunded my money, I had incurred 12 overdraft fees. No one I spoke with during those ten days offered me any advice on how to stop incurring more fees, nor did they refund them all. Just two. When I called a month later, a young woman named Amy told me 'it wasn't their fault' I got hacked and hung up on me. I eventually had to pull 10k from a long term account at another back just to get back upright. I left them and went to Huntington. It's like night and day. I wish I could leave ZERO stars! I hope Amy sees this. read more

In all fairness this credit union is only good for loans nothing else. I was ripped off by a business and they want me to drive out the way to file a dispute by getting a receipt. Takes a act of GOD to file a dispute, this credit union does not mind you as a customer being ripped off. I hope is happens to the members here so they can see how the customer feels. read more

Employees are clueless everyone has a different answer for the same question. When someone walks into your branch with a cashier check that is drawn off of your branch the knowledge on how to handle one of your own checks should be something that the employees know. When someone walks in and wants to make a deposit in anyone's account they should be able to do this without saying it can't be done when it's done every week. Your tellers are clueless! If the employee doesn't know the answer they need to ask to get the correct answer. Running someone credit in order to open an account with a very large cashier check that is drawn from your credit union should not be happening. I wasn't there applying for a loan I was there to open a savings account or maybe you guys have the "bank" mentality now. DO NOT USE THE ROMULUS BRANCH! read more

I have been a member for a few years. When I opened my account at the the main office I had some personal issues, and the staff was extremely helpful in assisting me in working out my financial issues. I live in downtown Detroit, so I started banking at the PSCU branch in the Milliner center. The staff is outstanding, pleasant, and also extremely helpful. My bank made an error and stopped my automatic payments to PSCU. (they stopped the payments on the wrong acct.). I discovered this when I checked my credit score, it had dropped 49 points. When I called PSCU I was told I was 2 months behind! I immediately issued a bank check. When I asked why I had not received a letter, email or phone call, I was rudely told they had sent out 3 letters. (Why not an email?) I never received any letters. I was told the letters are sent out by another company. This is the 1st time in 20 years I have ever had a late payment. The Gal said "just pay it and be dome with it." Please don't open a account here pscu is the worst credit union I've ever banked at SMH even if u call before you drive all the way to the location and confirm information you will get there and find out it was all wrong. The tellers at the Redford location act like they're slow and never no what's going on. If it's tax time and you call days in advance letting them know how much you will need on a certain day they say ok no problem but when you come that day of course that incompetent Redford branch say they didn't get that call smh that branch needs a new manager so I will be closing me and my children accounts soon and my husband account as soon as he done with his loan. read more

I got a vehicle loan through this company which I held through the 2020 pandemic. I uncharacteristically fell behind on payments. When that happens, they revoke your ability to get caught up through their online payments system. You have to call in or catch a call from them. If you have trouble paying, they make it harder to pay. This is just another of the countless examples of financial institutions kicking the little guy while he's down. Currently I am in search of another bank to take over my car loan. I find it very difficult to go in and pay a loan and have to wait 20 minutes when I am the only one in line. At one point, there was only 1 person ahead of me, I clocked it at wait time 47 minutes. ridiculous. when I got through to them, at that time they told me they did NOT have online payment methods. as of 3 days ago, I talked to another employee and was informed that they do in fact have online payment methods. Malaka at downtown Detroit branch was awful. Rude, and unprofessional. Told my husband and I she was on her way to lunch but "guess she could stay and help us". We then had to listen to her talk with her manager about ordering from Applebee's rather than Sweet water Tavern and how good their burgers are. We ended up leaving and going to another branch as getting a simple ATM card was too difficult. 2 staff members Rude, and the manager said Nothing. This credit union is a scam. My father went here because they advertised him benefits. Immediately after opening an account, mysterious utility bills were withdrawn from his account. they made him drive there to dispute the claims and sign a form. They did not lock his account or change his account number. The next month, mysterious utility bills again were set up to his account (same number!). They said they cannot do anything for the fact that the incompetent banker did not lock his account or change his account number, allowing the same company to set up fraudulent billing to his account again. I am appalled to read that PSCU, has received suggestive negative critiques. I have been a member for decades, going back to when the name was Wayne County Employees Credit Union. I became a member because I was disenchanted with that the rates and service at Detroit Municipal CU. At PSCU, I was given an opportunity to start a fresh credit record based on "merit", at a time when far too many financial decisions in Detroit, we're made based on an address; And living in the "city", carried its on deficits. "Redlining" was the standard, and working for the city, understandably required, "living among the people that you served, because they paid you." As some situations changed and some people were able to take advantage of "seemingly" changing perspectives, new opportunities appeared to open up. PSCU, progressed with the social changes that seemed to take place in this region but, they always remained a place that held a high tradition of integrity and treated it's members with respect. I am aware that some innovations have taken place in the financial industry that may not have as yet been adopted by PSCU, but I choose to view that as a cautionary move as opposed to incompetent action. I hope that anyone who has had positive dealings with PSCU, will both see this and speak up. I found out when I received my statement and when I called they informed me the money went to the State of Michigan. I was never notified that they were doing this and now I have to contact unclaimed property. read more

I have my car loan through them and it has been nothing but a headache!! When I first got my loan, I was waiting for all the information in the mail to arrive so I could make an account and a payment. A couple days before I have to make my payment, I call them asking for the information and apparently it got lost in the mail and so they sent me a new one. (I don't think they sent it to begin with.) They have been changing their "pay my loan" tab, and each time they do a new username and password combination is needed. This has happened to me twice in a years span, and each time I have to call them setting up a new username and password. Apparently my email is not registered with them?? (Does not make sense, since I get an email confirming my payment has been made.) Each time I try to get ahold of them, I spend forever on the phone trying to talk to someone about this matter. Last phone call, I waited 40 minutes to talk to someone! I understand being busy, but 40 minutes is absolutely ridiculous!! I have banked with other credit unions before and have loved them. Sadly, this is the worst experience I have EVER had with a credit union. I shouldn't have 4 different username and password combinations just to make my car payment. It is a hassle to try and make a payment. I would not recommend this credit union to anyone!!!! If you want a loan with a credit union, this is not the one. read more
