Public Service Solar has impressed me throughout the process. I started looking into solar in late August 2024 and after careful scrutiny of several vendors decided to go with Public Service Solar (PSS). They impressed me with their industry knowledge and use of technology in our initial meetings. I felt their foundation in roofing and electrical was well placed, especially after having spoken with others who had solar installed that had issues in both areas. Any solar project is going to be expensive, and PSS was not the lowest priced offer I received, but I felt with the level of equipment offered, small extras such as critter guards, strong warranties, experience of the team, and being locally based, they offered the best value. After a site visit and preliminary plan with pricing, I made my decision and notified them of winning my business in mid-September 2024. Since then, PSS has taken care of everything. Their team created a comprehensive plan that was thoroughly reviewed by an engineering firm and then with me. The plan was tweaked after our discussion as they made good recommendations for my property and included my input. They filed all the permits with my township, and made necessary contacts with my electric utility and appropriate inspectors. My solar system was installed on November 1, 2024 and while they needed a second day to sort out my battery back-up system, the solar part of the project was available to be online the next day and allowed me to produce clean solar power (note: I was aware my home already had a net-back meter which helped in this situation but may not apply to all. Tread cautiously if you're generating solar power without a net-back meter.) Inspections were completed in mid-November under the on-site guidance of a PSS representative and required only a minor adjustment to the electrical panel, which was quickly completed and re-inspection passed. My township and electric utility were automatically notified of the passed inspection. With the holidays fast approaching it took a little bit for the utility to inspect my meter and establish my account as a net-back account, but that was recently completed in early January. With utility permission to operate I am in full solar mode, generating my own electricity and getting credit when sending extra to my utility (note: I'm in PA and the processes may be different in other states or localities). With few hiccups along the way it was a smooth and quickly implemented process. From my timeline you can see this took approximately 4 months from the time I committed to PSS to completion and full permission to operate. I haven't had the opportunity to use my battery back-up, but I'm comfortable knowing what should happen thanks to the time the staff spent preparing me for when that time comes. The PSS staff is also in the process of setting up my account to receive SREC credits and helping monitor my system to make sure it's operating as expected. PSS has a website/app that allowed me to follow the installation and approval processes and now serves to provide me daily and historic data on my system production. Between the planning, installation, inspections, and few hours reviewing data and asking questions, I've encountered about a dozen PSS employees and none have disappointed. They have all been friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to work with me to keep me informed and ensure all my questions and concerns are addressed. A review of Public Services Solar. We had our solar installed on January 31, 2023. A month latter Met-Ed (our electric company) changer our meter to have met-metering. From then to know are bill has been first 10.28 and for the last year 11.28 a month. In addition to no longer paying a $275 monthly bill, we have received back from Met-ed $451 the first year and $426 for the second year, plus the certificates that we get for every 1k of power we create. This has added up to about $612 each year, plus as a surprise we receiver a small check form PSS due to not making 40K of power (due to a very cloudy winter). Now as too why we went with PSS. We started to look into solar in early 2022. After going through a large number of different ones (maybe 45-50) we hit on PSS. In every one prior to PSS we were not told things such as real cost (lots looked cheap until saw that they did not include lot of different items, such as cutoff switches , mongering, grantees of making amount of power, just what paniles were being used, who would install, peppermints needed and so on) all of which would have driven the cost up, or not provide us what we were looking for. When we gave PSS our wants they came back with a cost that we could handle and it included everything. We had to do nothing and we got a fully installed system that worked from day one, and had everything that were add ons by others. From PSS was very easy to work with. They kept us informed as items such as permits, OK by Met-ed, loan needed, etc. The install was done in one day, . They cleaned up everything, and tested the system before living. When we had are first 1K they were very helpful in setting up our account with the broker who sold them. They also helped up setup our mentoring subsystem. A short time after we were up and running they had an installer show up to replace an inverter that was not working 100%, and then again to put in a better data module. Next-Level Quality and Integrity: A Highly Recommended Solar Install I'm an engineer with seriously high standards for quality, and I can't recommend Public Service Solar enough for our roof replacement and solar install. Seriously, they were professional, totally competent, and completely focused on making us happy. If there was a tiny hiccup, they owned it instantly and fixed it flawlessly. What really set them apart was their integrity and smart, technically sound approach. Right off the bat, they were honest enough to say we weren't a good fit because of shade--unlike other companies who just wanted to push huge, pointless systems. After we got a generator installed by a third party, Mike actually sent a technician out at no charge just to inspect the solar wiring, even though they're located pretty far from us.
