I've been to Grand Ave for dining at the large dim sum and seafood restaurant for celebrations over…read morethe years. Grand Ave is a busy street with restaurants and other businesses and street parking, which is metered, is hard to come by and I've never found a space there. So grateful that there's this garage on Miller Ave. that is a short walk to the middle of Grand Ave. It's a four level garage with two elevators, one on the north side of the garage and one on the south side which leads to the walkway to Grand Ave. Remember your parking space number. Rates are $1.25 per hour and free parking on Sundays. You pay at the pay kiosks on the first floor next to the south side elevator. You enter A for English or B for Spanish, enter your parking space number and the amount of time you wish to park, pay by Visa/MC or coins and press green check to finish transaction. You don't need to put your receipt on your dash. If you can find parking on the streets, Miller Garage is a good option for your parking needs for the area.

The roof spaces provide a beautiful views of the city, the mountain sign and nearby San Bruno Mountain. However, I had a strange incident today. I had to be in the city for a meeting at 2:30 PM. As I arrived to the garage, I noticed an officer checking vehicles and giving tickets. I continued driving until I parked on the third level (where I don't need a city permit but only pay the hourly rate). I immediately walked down the stairs and paid using the machine on the wall (next to the northeast elevator). I selected MAX TIME (which goes all the way until 6 PM). After I paid, this same officer approached me. He saw me pay and then asked which space I parked in. I told him the space and he wrote it in his little notebook. He mentioned the problems that they've been having with the machine. He then thanked me and told me that I saved him time because he wouldn't have to check my vehicle. A couple of hours later (around 4:45 PM), I walked back to my car and discovered a parking violation under my wiper blade. I thought that it might have been a mistake, but my vehicle's license plate number was included. I immediately went downstairs and typed in my parking number. Sure enough, my space is still good until 6 PM (Max Time). So, I took photos of the screen (showing that I was good) and the location of the machine (with my space, time remaining still show and listed on the screen). I then took photos of my vehicle with the space listed. Unfortunately, there is no place on the ticket listed to call. So, I went home (to Palo Alto) and visited the website. I logged in with my violation number and immediately appealed. I included the photos of my vehicle/space and the machine's screen and location. I don't know if the officer simply got confused by it and gave me a ticket in good (albeit incorrect) faith. It is frustrating that I'm stuck appealing a ticket when there is absolutely no violation. Hopefully, this will be resolved rather seamlessly. I've never received a parking ticket in my entire life. I am always extra careful for it. In fact, I've parked at this lot many, many times. I've always paid for my space using "MAX TIME" and I've never had a problem before. It's a shame that a single bad experience like this can change the perception of the parking garage. I'll come back and update this once I've received a response for my appeal. I'm confident that all will be well because, well, I did everything correctly.

It's quite pricey but sometimes you have no other place to park your car. Garage 2 has 24 EV stalls on Level 1. Levels 2-6 has 18 EV stalls on each floor. The elevators to the AirTrain is on level 5 so park on level 5 if available. If you have a Tesla, remember to bring your J1772 adapter. I also 3D printed a small piece so nobody can disconnect the ChargePoint charger from the J1772 adapter. This was my very 1st time using ChargePoint and there were no issues at this parking garage. PRO TIP: Download the ChargePoint app and create a free account. Add the ChargePoint card to your Apple Wallet. I've heard bad stories where people are trying to find the correct ChargePoint stall by trying to find it on the app. Since there are so many stalls, it can be confusing to find the correct stall. I simply used the Apple Wallet ChargePoint tap on the stall and was able to unlock the charger immediately. The EV charging is FREE also. Just plug it in and leave your car there. It charges periodically throughout the day. It's not fast like a supercharger but you don't need it to be fast when you're parking long term. The parking garage is nice and clean. I parked there for 7 nights with no issues. I just walked to the AirTrain on level 5 and easily went to my terminal. It took about 15 min to get to Terminal 1.

It's…read morekind of a barebones type of station -- offering very little in terms of anything besides benches, Clipper Card stations and ticket kiosks. I suppose that if the goal was to create a station devoid of loitering, then this was a great design. It's simply....basic. However, the best part of this station is the basic design. The old station required passengers going west (along Grand Avenue) to walk a large flight of stairs onto a busy overpass, cross that road and then walk down the overpass to Grand Avenue. The new station has a pedestrian underpass -- allowing you to get to Grand Avenue or Airport Blvd. much more safely and quickly. It really is appreciated after the sun goes down! I used to hate the old station. In fact, I preferred to drive from my home (in Palo Alto) just to avoid the hassle -- even though I had to pay for parking. This station has caused me to prefer taking Caltrain to any meetings in downtown South San Francisco. It's close enough (on foot) to most areas of the downtown that I don't need to bring a bike on the train. While I think that the station is simple (and the cost overruns and construction delays were annoying), this is a very nice and basic train station that might be overlooked for its simplicity. However, sometimes, "basic" is better than complex. It is in this case.
