Lousy, incompetent staff, including the manager. The staff were able to help reserve a unit. (that's the only star they get) My move coordinator and I both called and spoke to 2 office staff days before arriving their facility to verify that an 18 wheeler would be able to drive in. They confirmed it'd fit. On the day of our move in, we discovered their facility can't accomodate the 18 wheeler driving in. When I confronted the office staff on the day of the move, she denied I even asked the question! She told me it's a done deal since my husband already did the paperwork and there's no refund. When the manager was brought on the phone, he authorized the refund and told us to go to another PS facility that our moving truck could drive in but the rent would not be $1 for the first month. He could only give us a $200 discount for the 1st month's rent. When I informed him that his staff told me that our moving truck could drive in their facility, he blamed me for not being clear on the type of 18 wheeler that's arriving their facility! He claimed there are 2 types of 18 wheeler. type 1: 18 wheeler, type 2: 18 wheeler with a moving trailer attached. (Why would we bring an 18 wheeler to rent a 10 x 30 unit?!) He tried to cover his staff's mistakes by telling me that I'm wasting time many times throughout our conversation. We went to a different storage because they're not trust worthy. I really don't have to give business to people that lied to me. They didn't even have the manners to apologize for their mistake. And the manager had to jack up the price, not honoring their ad. A few days later, I received a postcard, saying that I owe them money after I moved out of their unit. The postcard was mailed the day after I was there. This is ridiculous. read more

It's always a pleasure coming to this facility. It's super clean and the employees are always friendly and helpful.

We were in the middle of making our home purchase when we realized we would not get our home in time for the move. We had already sold our property and needed to move within the week. We went to our local Public Storage, Hayward on Whipple/Dyer, and met Elizabeth who was not only helpful, she was AMAZING! She showed us a unit that we felt was too small for our needs. She didn't have what we were looking for so she looked around other locations for us. She took her time to assist us. She referred us to Darcy at Grove Way Castro Valley location. At this point we were already stressed from packing and the actual move but as soon as we walked in and met Darcy, our attitude changed completely. She was very warm and funny we just appreciated her service very much. She took care of us with a great smile and positive attitude. Every time we saw her the week of our move she was super pleasant and happy to see us. We knew we had made the right choice with Public Storage. We commend you for your choice of employees like Elizabeth and Darcy. They truly love helping people. Please forward this for them to see because we really appreciated them! read more

I wish they had 2 1/2 stars to be fair. This location isn't so bad. When I first got here I had a problem with pricing. Online says one thing you get there and it was another story and I reserved and paid for it online before I came. After a couple months I was able to get it straightened out (The manger/district manager at this location was cool -Jose I think is his name?) so I was good. The other issue was every time I came to pay my bill there was never anyone is the office (yes I could pay it online but I choose not to someone should be in the office it's a business for crying out loud Lol!). I mean not just once but almost every time I came and that wasn't cool. I'm guessing they only scheduled one person most of the time at this location?? But lately (last few months from the date of this post) Things have improved and the people who work there are really nice that has never been the problem. Just that they need to keep two people there at all times. One might have to go show a unit and one needs to be in the office. Over all the units are safe. I feel safe storing my belongs there. Prices are decent and they have units that are climate controlled and it's a nice convenient location. read more

I wandered into this public storage looking for a place to stash my things while i was in between places. As i entered their office I was kindly greeted by the manager, Lizbeth. Its the first time i'm getting one of these storage units so i asked her to explain how it all works. She explained the 1 dollar move in special they had on some of their units and i was sold. It ends up being a bit more than a dollar but she explained the whole process so there wasn't any surprise charges coming my way. She was more than willing to show me a unit when i asked. I mean i didn't want to just want to stash my stuff anywhere, i wanted to see the unit where i would be placing my valuables. She awesome and gave me a quick tour showed me my unit it was clean as expected so i said why not. All in all it took about 30mins or so and i was set up with my unit, my code and my lock, which i didn't even think about getting but good thing they had some handy i could by. i had my roommate come by and grab a unit as well since he was in need of once as well. Once again everyone was really helpful in the office and after 30mins or so he was set up and we were on our way to move stuff in. I rented from this location. I had a great rate for the first 6 months. Then the price went up. Price is not locked in, so keep this in mind. Lizbeth is very helpful and knowledgeable. I did have an issue with someone backing into the door, and that was resolved but I did not like that the location cut my lock to make repairs before I or a friend was able to be present. No break in or anything lost during my 18 month rental, but I was unhappy about the price increase, but found that is a normal policy. read more
