We contacted the Public Storage on Country Club Road in early June after having a problem at another storage facility in town. Our call was handled efficiently and they were able to accommodate us by renting a 40' pull-through space for our cargo trailer. We were able to head directly over and complete the necessary paperwork. We gained access to the gate and our trailer was safely secured. This was a temporary solution for us and it worked well. The worst storage facility I have ever used. No bathroom, hardly any carts and in the 2 years I was there they raised my rent from $150 to $282. Management never does what they say they will, as in providing credits they promised. I have found a facility with the same exact size storage space climate controlled for $50/ month. Public Storage Facility, unit 3415 at the 5155 Country Club Drive, Winston Salem, NC 27101 location. I had a moving company move me out of the storage facility on December 4th, 2020. I explained to the manager of that property on Saturday December 5th, 2020 two things: 1- Almost all of the overhead florescent lights in the facility were out making it virtually impossible to see in my storage unit. This unit was on the third floor in huge, indoor, supposedly climate controlled building. On Friday, Dec 4th, I discovered water damage on my fabric chair seat cushion and on my memory foam mattress protector/cover once these items were moved into my house. I was able to unzip and wash the mattress protector with regular laundry detergent and Oxiclean powder and the stain came out. When I called the facility manager Saturday the 5th, The manager said they only way she could back up a complaint about water damage to my furniture is for me to have seen evidence of a water source in the facility. I explained to her I wasn't in the unit moving items out of it rather the movers I had hired moved everything out. I would hope that if there was standing water in the facility, the movers would have alerted me. I explained to her that my chair and mattress cover absorbed the leak and that water, after time dries out. It had not rained in the Carolina's for weeks when I was in the process of moving out of the facility. The damage on my chair, photos attached, was a dried out stain. My items were in storage for a total of four months. 2- I also mentioned to the facility property manager and to the person taking notes about my claim that I filed on Monday, December 7th, 2020 through Orange Door, Sedgwick Claims Management Services, that as a female coming into a storage facility building and going through a very poorly lit maze to find my unit number with three guys from the moving company whom I don't know, this poses a tremendous risk to my safety. What if I was assaulted or worst case scenario, raped and killed by one of them in that building? Nobody would find me for hours, there is no cell phone reception in the building, and there was nobody else in that building while I was moving out of it. When I mentioned to the property manager about my concerns about the bad lighting and water issues in the building she said something along the line that, "the poor lighting and water leak issues always comes up in reviews for this location and the owner of this property won't do anything about it." The property manager was very nice and attentive but it is not good that there are known problems at this facility and nothing has been done to address it by the owners of this property. Because I could not prove where the water source came from, my claim through the extended insurance coverage I had paid for through "Orange Door Sedgwick Claims Management Services, Inc." denied my claim. I took my chair cushion to professional upholstery cleaner and they mentioned that the stain looked like a rust spot which likely came from an overhead metal beam in the building. The stain would not come out! My only option is to have the whole chair reupholstered or simply turn the cushion over and pretend it does not exist. I chose the latter because I am not willing to pay hundreds of dollars to have my beautiful chair redone. It is in good shape other than this stain. For the anyone who happens to read this review my word of caution to you is this, if you have to rent from the indoor facility, get a unit on the first or second floor. My unit was on the top floor and I am certain the roof leaked. Also, do a full inspection of the unit before you move your items in it and take pictures of the empty unit. Look around for any visible signs of stains on the walls, floor, or ceiling. Always have pictures of what your furniture looks like before you move anything into the facility. When you move your items out, be there with your moving company to look at items as they are being moved out and if you notice any water stains on your personal belongings that you know were not on it before you moved your items in, stop the move and go to the main office immediately to report the damage. Take pictures of your water stained items INSIDE your storage unit! This is the only way you can prove your items were damaged while they were in storage. I would be posting this same review on the Better Business Bureau, Winston Salem, NC page but the only Public Storage reviews that come up on BBB in this surrounding area are for units in Greensboro, High Point, NC and the corporate office. It speaks volumes that on BBB, every Public Storage Facility I read about had very unfavorable ratings, 1.4 out of 5 stars! read more

I just rented a unit this evening. I was so impressed with the tour I was given and the level of thoughtfulness I experienced. I rented a a climate controlled 10x5. It is cold in the building.....bundle up if you are cold sensitive. When I was first quoted the price, the administration fee, and rental insurance I was hesitant. However, the tour really made me feel the unit was worth the price. Bathrooms, floats, elevators, and a large loading dock were a part of the renting experience. I was really pleased with the level of cleanliness along with the well thought out details concerning the moving and storage process. I have another building at another local place and the rent is 50.00 That unit is a 5x10 and the door is very rusty at the lock and is not climate controlled. I felt like I have upgraded to a mansion (LOL) and I believe we will be bringing our stuff from that unit to public storage very soon. As for Rebekah in the office, she sincerely seems to love her role at the storage unit. She does a great job giving the tour and working through the contract. She made sure all my questions were answered. While I was waiting, the customer in front of me was having a bad day. Rebekah did not let the customer upset her. She was truly empathetic. She was still helping that customer while showing us the unit. Exceptional customer service was provided. I highly recommend thus location. If anything changes, I will update my review. read more

The storage unit itself was fine. However the manager Rebekah was the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL person I have ever encountered. I could not believe a manager would behave in such a discourteous way. She rolled her eyes, slammed stuff and said "let's just get this over with" when I went to view the property. Prior to this I had spoke to someone else on the phone who was very pleasant and helpful. Had I not been in such a time crunch I would not have rented from this place. I later found a unit on Jonestown that I wish I had rented and the staff was great. We have used the storage location for years and it has always been well-run, clean, safe and organized. We have not had one issue and much of our positive view is because of a superior property manager, Rebekah. Our check-in was fast and efficient. She explained everything completely. Recently she went above and beyond expectations. Somehow I put the lock on our unit gate but it was not in the lock position even though the gate was down. I was completely unawares but I received an e-mail from Rebekah at 9:30 at night to advise me of the problem. I promptly showed up the next morning to lock the gate properly. When I first move to Winston Salem N.C. in 2006 I WAS LIVING IN A TOWN HOUSE In Austin, Texas and I move over here on Counrty club in a condo and I came in and Rebekch was the first person I meet and she has been wonderful to me every since. We rented a climate controlled unit and have been paying over $200 a month for it for over 2 years. The unit leaked and ruined the furniture and personal property with mold and that is irreplaceable. We have spoken to the property manager and the insurance company. They keep telling us we can't move the items out of storage until the insurance company pays us, and they want us to continue paying them $200 a month! I rented a unit 25 years ago on Gun Club Road for $39.00 a month and have never had mold on anything!! I don't feel we should have to pay them another cent, plus feel we should be reimbursed for the entire time we've had the unit. read more
