I started my business with basically no clients. I was not a known Hair Stylist in the area. The East Cobber was one of my major sources of advertising. After about 5 years I was informed that my advertising costs would go up 100+%. I felt I was paying a fair price for my continuous monthly ad. The costs were going to go up 100+%. Wow! That was way out of my business budget! I thanked them and moved on. It was difficult to lose my main advertising source, but I felt the extreme jump was way to much for my business to absorb. I tend to spend a lot of lunches reading over the papers at Whole Foods and noticed Skirt! a few…read moremonths ago. It's free, it's monthly, it's upbeat, and I find myself looking forward to new issues. I am not aware of any other local publications that focus on women, and it's nice to be able to pick up a paper full of essays that range from pleasant to touching. They did have a recent feminist issue. My opinion is somewhat slanted (I have often wondered in frustration why "feminist" is stigmatized here), so I have to admit that this really cemented my loyalty as a reader. Reading Skirt! is a great hour-long escape!

Or simply walk into the CORP Office and pickup one. FREE always gets my VOTE of WOOHOO! Second of all, I love that they have events around the city that are FREE from time to time! I just left one last night that was taken place in Dunwoody..yup yup FREE yet again. ;-) The look and feel of Jezebel makes you want'a read and explore what's inside that's for sure. I consider it an easy read magazine compared to most. You are updated with the latest hotness in the city and you can find out the most loved events that are partaken around the city of Atlanta. The magazine also focuses on celebrities, chefs, authors, designers, musicians, business owners, a food and drink guide and fashion and beauty, books, and travel but unlike many other city publications features models, not celebrities on the cover. I usually skips over advertisements but even the ads printed in the Atlantan are colorful and appealing, When I travel to other cities I find it more difficult to find localized Modern Luxury publications. An online guide on where to pick up free copies would be a great addition.

I like to read this magazine because it has a large amount of pages devoted to travel. Though I do not take as many road trips as I used to, many of the destinations are within a couple of hours driving distance from Atlanta. The magazine also features overseas travel, places I dream of having the opportunity to visit one day. I have learned about many area restaurants by reading this magazine. I also like that every issue features a colorful and interesting cover picture. This is one of my favorite local magazines to read because the articles feature a lot of information about events and stores that are in the northern suburbs of Atlanta.
