This is not an indictment of this Publix or any other Publix in St. Pete. My comments are in reference to All Publix markets. Their prices overall compared to Kroger/King Soopers are much higher. Their selections much more limited. And their produce prices, especially for organic options, are Way More Expensive than any Kroger store and, limited as well. They were selling 3 lb bags of navel oranges. I looked on the label. The oranges were grown in South Africa! Seriously?! We live in Florida! I sure wish Costco was not so far away. read more

The employees that work here are discriminating and bullies. I've been approached on numerous occasions regarding my service dog. A small hypoallergenic and non shedding dog who accompanies me every where I go do, stays by my side and follows every command. I have him to prevent panic attacks. I told them I have a service card and rather then ask me to present it, I was told to leave and they will not allow me to shop. I'm not required by law to show it but told them I would and they still said no. I can't leave him in the hot car or tie him up outside. He is always by my side. They have cornered me while walking in the store and embarrassed me on more than one occasion. I'll take my money else where. Horrible service. read more

Not long ago, I could purchase a small frozen package of peas or broccoli and other veggies for $1.99 per package. I went in today (9/2024) and found the same exact item for $1.19 more. So the item was $3.19. So what is that a 60% increase in the price? I used to love Publix, but not anymore. They are screwing consumers over with their price gouging and I don't appreciate it. this is, pure and simple, an example of corporate greed. Corporate greed is what drives the economy. It's a free market and they do whatever they want and answer to nobody. I find the difference in prices at Walmart is often huge. Another example is Ragu spaghetti sauce... it's a dollar more per jar at Publix. Another one is soy milk or almond milk, it's at least a dollar, or $1.50 more per half gallon at Publix. Does Publix not realize that their increases in pricing add up? So you used to be able to get good deals in the "two for one" offers at Publix but the store is making that less and less true. read more

I was in Florida for the first time and I just had to try some pub subs and I was so glad I did. The service at deli was a little slow, they hadn't started the sandwiches by the time they should have for pickup but one of the workers was sorry for the wait and the other one was busy making the sandwiches just as I asked, so I can't complain about them. There were some other workers behind the deli counter who never once inquired as to why I was standing there so long as I waited to be acknowledged. Other parts of the store also had some nice employees but some very unfriendly ones too. I bet this location would be much better if they only had the ones who actually know how to interact with humans working there. read more

Convenient little sandwich counter inside of Publix. Everything on the menu is a meat sandwich, but fortunately for us vegetarians, you can build your own. I had a whole wheat wrap with pepperjack cheese, lettuce, spinach, tomato, cucumber, jalapeño, green bell pepper, banana pepper, and pickles, with a sprinkle of parmesan and oregano. Tasty. There are also other bread and wrap options, various deli meats and cheeses, and countless combos of other ingredients. The girl making it was friendly and rolled it up surprisingly well. Nothing fell out and the wrap did not fall apart while eating it, though stuffed full of veggies. It cost $4.89 for a nice fresh meal, and I will come back to get this again. read more

There is a aggressive begger at the corner of the parking lot. He3's been there for months. Complained to the manager, I was "thanked for my input". There is a crazy man who shows up EVERY day at noon, stands in front of the store and SCREAMS for two hours daily!!! Management does NOTHING. This is hands down the worst publix I have ever been to. This location is located in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg and for that reason there's a lot of loitering that takes place outside this store. The layout of the store is awful and there aren't enough cash registers. As soon as you enter the store there is customer service, deli, and bakery to the right. This causes the door entrance to become crowed and you can hardly get a cart through because people are standing in line. I have stopped here multiple times in the past to get one of their famous publix subs(they really are the best). However, at this location the deli and sandwich workers are EXTREMELY SLOW. There is always a long line and the workers seem to be in no rush what so ever. I would avoid this location at all costs. read more

I love Publix. Why I don't know. It must be because of the insanely good deli sandwich I bought one day that was super-customized and had a billion toppings. It surely was not because of the produce, which was nothing special and more expensive than prices in the Midwest, and the selection of goods at this particular location was a bit to be desired. But the people working there were friendly and check out was pretty speedy. I will dream of that turkey sandwich with the sport peppers and the spicy mustard until the next time I am down in that area though, that's for sure! read more

I recently had a workmens comp injury. The pharmacist at this Publix went above and beyond to give me a few of the pain pills I needed even though she did not have all the paperwork. I could tell that it was an extra crazy day when I arrived. What she did for me in the face of all this was beyond excellent customer service. Why 4 stars? Because this is one of the better Publix's. --- --- --- Publix is Publix, so there's not a ton to say, but this is one of my favorites. I don't know why, they carry mostly the same things as the other locations, but it just has that cool, downtown vibe to it. Probably because it's located downtown, but that's neither here nor there. I always love any grocery store with a sushi chef in-house, and meat/seafood departments that offer more variety. I'll continue to frequent here fairly often as long as the girlfriend lives walking distance. read more

2 Stars for multiple reasons Ok, some positives first: - The store is usually very clean - The selection of seafood is consistently fresh Now the negatives: - A tiny parking lot that is shared by at least 6 other businesses. The lot is patrolled by a towing company which is hired to sit in the lot ready to tow cars for $250 each - Super high prices because people have no other choice for groceries in the area (Locale is even more $$$$) - Super small selection of everything - ALWAYS very busy and lunchtime during the week is just chaos. This leads to them being out of items very often. Want a rotisserie chicken? Get there before 6pm. Want quinoa salad? hahaha yeh, right. To make things even worse, there are at least 6 other high-rise condo projects finishing in a year or so. This Publix is going to have to go to a second story to accommodate any more customers that are forced to shop there. read more

While I think Publix has a decent reputation for customer service, the selection is underwhelming in my opinion. I do like this location since it's downtown and better for sustainability, but I wish they would carry much more organic, fair trade, and/or locally produced items. Publix's deli and bakery items make me less inclined to come here: it seems they are usually loaded with excessive sugar, white flour (it's rare to find whole wheat), plus dairy (very hard to find anything vegan). Finally and most important to me as a consumer, they are still refusing to sign the Fair Food agreement. I think it's important for customers to know how Publix's core business affects migrant farm workers in Florida, and I will not be shopping at Publix until they sign it. read more

I'm not one to leave a review but I sincerely hope this feedback makes it to whoever is running the store so that they can work towards improvement. I moved into the apartments next door a few months ago so I've frequented this store often. Each and every time I go it disappoints. The staff is always rude and unprofessional, especially behind the sub counter. Furthermore, every time we have ordered subs there they are never made properly- the worst scenario being when my bf ordered a meatball sub and they did not warm the meatballs (they toasted the sandwich but didn't actually heat the meatballs). Also, I went to the counter to order a sandwich and stood for a while before someone yelled over to me " we ain't got no bread" . I've always loved Publix sandwiches and the experience of shopping there because it's such a great experience. I know this is not the normal for a Publix store so I really hope whoever is managing this store gets it together. yesterday I bought 2 pounds of ground beef- today the beef is grey and smells. I also ordered a sandwich to pick up while in store and got home to find the sand which was roast beef not Turkey. this is the last straw for me, I won't be returning to this store. read more

I love lunch at Publix.They have the best deli sandwiches ever! And they have sweet tea in 1/2 gallon sizes. And for $6.99, their spicy tuna rolls are to DIE for. I eat a sushi roll everyday for lunch. 12 pieces for only $7?! It is fresh and super yummy. The stores and clean and everything seems fresh. I have not ever had a bad experience at Publix. read more

So here is my deal, I live in friggin Manhattan, there are NO supermarkets (unless you count Wholefoods as a supermarket - which I do not - they are more like fancy highway robbers with pretty clothes). I come to St Pete for work and stay over the road at the Hilton. Unsafe location. They employ a full time officer and still no law or order in the store or within a 2000 ft radius. My first visit I walked past a marijuana smoke cloud lobby to find two homeless people pushing each other within the store. Customers give me predatory vibes and staff are rude, I was told "outta the way" by a guy with a broom. Was a shocking experience for anyone raised to obey laws and be polite. I was in the area for a conference and saw there was a Publix nearby. I decided to come in because I love all the Publix stores back home. My experience in the store was great, but a day later I found some of the items I bought were subpar. I went in the evening on Wednesday, and the store was fairly busy. However I was able to find parking just fine. I bought some deli slices and chicken tenders from the deli. I was attended to quickly, and the staff members helping me were very nice. I also bought some sandwich and salad supplies from the rest of the aisles. My problem happened when I noticed the next day that some of my items were questionable. My B1G1 goat cheese was covered with fungus; I noticed that the pumpernickel croutons I bought had a hole in the package; and the ready-made popcorn I bought from the deli was peppered with burnt stuffs from where they were cooked. I had to throw out the items due to safety concerns. To be fair, I didn't contact the Publix to ask for any sort of refund or exchange because I didn't have time while I was there. Based on my previous Miami Publix experiences, I'm sure they would have been happy to help me, but they didn't have the chance to. At the same time, I go to Publix because I know they have a very high standard of cleanliness. I consider their products guaranteed great. To find so many problems with my items was disappointing and inconvenient. Just thought I'd let others know, so they could be vigilant next time they stop there. read more

I suffered a sprained foot due to the slippery paint during a rain storm and brushed it off but I didn't realize it would affect me weeks later. I went back to this Publix and heard the cashier saying to another "omg someone else slipped on the paint outside just now" So you're telling me you know this is a problem and you haven't fixed it and people keep getting injured??? I'm not here to review a damn grocery store. But I am here to tell you that the deli counter here is the bomb. They make the freshest subs I've ever tasted. Unlike Subways, they load your sub with cheese to the max. The bread is freshly baked, the veggies hit the spot and the price doesn't leave a dent in the wallet. I love my little downtown Publix! It doesn't have as big of a selection as the Publix up on 38th Ave, but it has enough. It is great for small shopping trips or picking up a missing ingredient. Before this Publix was built we had to drive about 40 blocks to get to a grocery store. Now we have our own Publix downtown. I do wish that they had a pharmacy, but I know that they didn't have a lot of space. Service is friendly here and they are normally quick and efficient. I am going to miss this Publix when I move. Bonus: You can use the Publix parking lot for easy parking for Push or Red Mesa Cantina :) read more
